Contrary to the overwhelming perception in society, numerous studies and statistics recently published from a variety of disparate sources have indicated that women are more likely to be verbally and physically aggressive to their partners than men, and are increasingly participating in serious acts of violence against other men, women, the elderly and children.

[+]BBCradiosussex -441 points-440 points-439 points 5 years ago (79 children) | Copy Link

It’s beyond pathetic that you believe this. Get a grip, google domestic murder figures.

[–]Mutoniumortalis 221 points222 points223 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Aggression ≠ murder

[–]StudentOfTheTruth0 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

True. But what does that have to do with this post, exactly? The post is NOT about murder.

[–]Mutoniumortalis 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's a reply to the other comment??? That's why they're chained and all that, you know

[–]Ensifror 178 points179 points180 points 5 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

So DV is OK if it doesn't end in your partners death? Noted. I'll keep my aggression to maiming from now on.

The most abusive relationships are lesbian ones. The least abusive? Gay. I’ll let you fill in the blanks, dumb fuck

[+]skepticalbob -31 points-30 points-29 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Not according to the article. Gay male relationships were the most violent.

[–]AnonyDexx 24 points25 points26 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm assuming you mean this part:

Women were revealed to be more likely to be physically aggressive to their partners, and men were more likely to be physically aggressive to their same-sex partners.

You're not comprehending that correctly. It's comparing which relationships each gender is more aggressive is in. Males are most aggressive in gay relationships out of all of their relationships. It's not comparing male vs female gay relationships.

[–]Hyochang_Park 10 points11 points12 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Men are more willing to hit other men than they are women. What a revelation.

[–]Cookiedoughjunkie 22 points23 points24 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You're really not understanding that correctly.

Women were far more likely to abuse other women, just like men were more likely to abuse other men.

But when it comes between men and women, women were more likely to abuse men.

[–]5particus 91 points92 points93 points 5 years ago (37 children) | Copy Link

And it is beyond moronic that you dont believe that this is happening when you have the study right in front of you that says that it is happening.

[+]BBCradiosussex -177 points-176 points-175 points 5 years ago (36 children) | Copy Link

Oh I didn’t realise fathers4justice was a reliable source, my bad. But you don’t have to do much research to discover that 1 in 4 women experience domestic violence, compared to 1 in 7 men, the latter of which is mostly in same sex relationships.

[–]5particus 121 points122 points123 points 5 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link

And that is because the vast majority of female on male violence goes unreported because people like you mock and belittle the men that do report it.

Besides, the website links to the survey done to collect this information. That is the link that I was referring to.

[+]BBCradiosussex -99 points-98 points-97 points 5 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

You’re talking about 1 (one) very limited survey compared to all of the other studies and statistics which prove the opposite, not to mention the thousand of women that die at the hands of abusive men. The idea that it’s women who are aggressive when every war in human history was between men is a joke. Get a fucking grip.

[–]5particus 68 points69 points70 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

DV is bad. The difference is with female on male DV the male usually doesn't need to go to the hospital, with male on female DV it usually does mean a trip to the hospital. These are the statistics that you usually see and hear. Simple fact is that men are bigger and stronger.

You should take a statistics course to try and learn about biases before you try and incorrectly make assumptions from statistics.

[–]Cain592 61 points62 points63 points 5 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

The fact that you'd resort to the "war is caused by men" argument not only shows you have nothing better to resort to but also proves you're an ignorant mysandrist who would rather ignore the fact that the statement you just said is in complete denial to the actual facts.

To make comments about war and history you need to know wars and history(who would have thought) but yeah go off lassy

[–][deleted] 21 points22 points23 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What makes it funnier is that queens were actually more likely to wage war than kings.

[–]NiallTheSheep 23 points24 points25 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Mysogony is "I hate women" Misandry is "I hate men" Just a little heads'up matey ;)

[–]Cain592 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Damn. TIL the word I always thought was hating the opposite gender is just "hating women" lol

[–]duhhhh 53 points54 points55 points 5 years ago* (7 children) | Copy Link

You’re talking about 1 (one) very limited survey compared to all of the other studies and statistics which prove the opposite

.

Almost 24% of all relationships had some violence, and half (49.7%) of those were reciprocally violent. In nonreciprocally violent relationships, women were the perpetrators in more than 70% of the cases.

Src: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1854883/

Behind a paywall I have archived around, but Harvard research that women are more likely than men in starting or escalating domestic violence and those women are by far the women most likely to be injured in DV. That doesn't say all women injured are perpetrators themselves, but it does indicate the problem goes beyond the feminist/pop culture model of "violence against women".

It includes:

Almost 25% of the people surveyed — 28% of women and 19% of men — said there was some violence in their relationship. Women admitted perpetrating more violence (25% versus 11%) as well as being victimized more by violence (19% versus 16%) than men did. According to both men and women, 50% of this violence was reciprocal, that is, involved both parties, and in those cases the woman was more likely to have been the first to strike.

This is a long meta study that shows we've known domestic violence isn't gendered for decades.

Popculture article -

Most domestic violence research today is research of "violence against women" from grants specifically looking for data on violence against women, not gender neutral research.

oncefa2 has posted lots stuff on this topic with academic references. I think the best two for references are...

https://old.reddit.com/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates/comments/f604hw/some_sources_on_the_severity_of_domestic_violence/

not to mention the thousand of women that die at the hands of abusive men.

This one is interesting because usually as soon as I point out that DV isn't gendered someone explains it is because more women are killed by their partners than men. It wasn't always that way. Women got better options and stopped killing as much. Perhaps if we actually cared about women, we'd give men and children the same protections as women.

[–]LettuceBeGrateful 8 points9 points10 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

every war in human history was between men

What a misleading way to frame it. Most men involved in war were expected to fight and die on the battlefield. They weren't responsible for the wars.

[–]theromanshcheezit 11 points12 points13 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, literally every study/comparable survey shows that violence against men (IPV) is significantly underreported compared to violence against women. It’s also pretty undisputed that women have an easier time getting help for IPV than men do. It is also undisputed that women tend to be more satisfied with social services that help them in these situations as well.

[–]LawExpress 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Fathers4equality is just the publisher of an independent research paper. The research is from independent sources, not from F4E.

In any case show me research supporting your views that all men are violent and I will show you the govt funded feminist group behind it.

[–]StudentOfTheTruth0 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Both figures are complete fakes. They come from telephone "surveys" that intentionally lump together completely distinct issues and report this "combination" as "rape" or "sexual assault". For example, as part of the same question (with a list) they ask if you haver been raped (very few "yes" responses) ending the list with "have you ever felt sad, embarrassed or anxious after a sexual contact even if it was consensual"? (zillions of "yes" responses). Then they report the grand total of all these "yes" responses as "rape and sexual assault".

BTW even that fake survey found only 1 in 5 NOT 1 in 4 (which is sometimes even reported as 1 in 3). And nobody ever claimed "mostly from gay relationships". The only known thing is that lesbian relationships have the highest percentage of violence.

I think you are just a radical feminist intruding here with simping and attempts to trivialize extremely serious true facts, just because they are about men, and are inconvenient to your radfem narrative.

Shame on you. Now go away and take your simping someplace else.

[–]GoblinLoveChild 12 points13 points14 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

this is just a sample of the evidence.

Please provide any that contradicts this so we can actually debate it intelligently rather than anecdotally.

It's beyond pathetic that you believe this. Get a grip, google the different between aggression and domestic murder.

Or in other words let's talk about issues that exist and not act like just because one exist the other can't.

That's like saying: how can people be fined for wrongfully parking and driving to fast??? One contradicts the other???

Issues exist independently from each other but can be correlating or causing each other. And if you want to solve those issues it's in your interest to get down to the source of it and eliminate it.

Aggression has many reasons. And the problem no one talks about is that it's the mother that often causes it. So it is one of the factors mentioned here. That women are often more willing to harm children then men, and or also apply psychological abuse. Is it ok to only blame women here? No this issue is bigger can can result from other issues. Like women being the housewives and taking care of the children and just having more chances to result to violence. It can also result from being stressed or abused thelself. And here we start to potentially have a circle of abuse with many people towing gas into the fire.

Our goal should not be to blame just one side but to find out why the act like that and how to fix it. And if you continue to only see the issues in one gender, you get people fed up with your bullshit and only make it worse. If it's that what you want. Go on. But don't be shocked that the world will continue to turn to shit, and that the people once willing to be the change just turn around and be there for themself living in a world of "survival of the fittest".

Like this you mean?

  • Men still represent a substantial proportion of people who are assaulted (50%), injured (30%), or killed (25%) by an intimate partner.

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2011/jun/07/feminism-domestic-violence-men

  • Men assaulted by their partners are often ignored by police, see their attacker go free and have far fewer refuges to flee to than women.

https://www.theguardian.com/society/2010/sep/05/men-victims-domestic-violence

  • New Zealand mothers kill more children than any other group in society and men are victims of domestic violence as often as women, a police investigation has found.

https://www.odt.co.nz/news/national/children-most-often-killed-mothers

  • Overwhelmingly, children are killed by those who should be looking after them. Of the cases where the killer's relationship to the victim is known, 27 per cent were mothers, 24 per cent were fathers, and 17 per cent de facto fathers.

https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/112918992/mothers-fathers-and-stepfathers-are-the-most-common-killers-of-children

All too often efforts to support men are stifled by self interested organisations, dismissed as the ramblings of men's rights activists, or straight up denied.

You seem to have a reading comprehension issue. The post does NOT talk about "murder". It is about aggression and violence. Repeat after me, slowly:

N-O-T M-U-R-D-E-R.

The post doesn't even have the word "murder" in it once.

So, NO, googling "domestic murder figures" is not what this post is about. It is beyond pathetic that you comment on a post you don't seem to have read.

I absolutely believe it BTW. I consider Google biased and feminist controlled. Have you seen a previous post about "DeGoogling"? It is because Google is biased and not trustworthy.

[–]BBCradiosussex -4 points-3 points-2 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Haha you’re retarded. I know the post doesn’t report on murder figures, which is why it’s a horseshit article. Get a grip, stop being a victim. It’s pathetic.

(1) The fact that feminists have such crude and vulgar manners and language shows best who they are. Barely a comment without the "f" word or some personal attack. Who the crap you think you are to dare to insult me? Do you have no shame?

(2) I will most definitely NOT stop being a victim, because I AM the victim in this society. Men and boys are systematically victimized, demonized, abused, hurt, discriminated against and traumatized by this society. All the numbers speak volumes (men die 5 years younger, 95% of the homeless are men (once you count in "rough sleepers"), 94% of work fatalities are men, only 40% of college students are men, 60% are women, 3 times more money is spent on women's health issues, even though men die younger, 6 times more money is spent on breast cancer research, even though more people die from prostate cancer, there are 2000+ women only homeless shelters - for that 5% - and zero for men - or the 95%, the list goes on endlessly). And you think women are "oppressed" here? Are you really that delusional?

Even this comment of yours was designed to traumatize me. You are a horrible bully, like all of your ilk. But, surprise, I am not the man who takes insults just because you are a woman. Your usual privilege stops right here, right with me.

I don't give a damn about what you call "pathetic" but I tell you privileged Western feminists being that delusional - now, that is pathetic.

Stop trolling this reddit and go back to FDS. There is no need here for feminist simping and feminist stupidity, like yours, here. Go away.

I am afraid the person who is both retarded and very, very pathetic here is you.

Listen moron: when you are a victim you don't just "stop being a victim". The victimization, i.e the abuse are done by other people to you, the victim. Only they stopping (or made to stop) the abuse you "stop being a victim". The abusing female perpetrators in this article are shown who they really are and why.

Yes, you, who I am convinced is a woman, yes, you and most of your fellow women are the perpetrators of the sick psycho crime of controlling other people. Yes, you people are that sick, yes, you in particular.

Are we going to pretend that murder statistics alone are evidence of something? Because if that's the case you should know that despite making up less than 13% of the population...

[+]BBCradiosussex -13 points-12 points-11 points 5 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

No idea what point you are trying to make. Are you saying murders aren’t relevant? I know it’s inconvenient but men kill women this much in the US.

[–]8MRunner 12 points13 points14 points 5 years ago* (7 children) | Copy Link

Because you're both equating violence to murder when it's far from the same; you're also removing context. Removing and ignoring context is the the same thing that causes idiots to believe African Americans are inherently and disproportionately more violent, which was my "Despite being only 13 percent of the population..." comment's reference.

[+]BBCradiosussex -11 points-10 points-9 points 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Okay, so this entire exercise is completely pointless, including the OP study. You ask for context for male violence, but you don’t need any for female violence. In any case your point about black violence is totally redundant. Socio-economics don’t factor into gendered violence in the same way as black violence. Men of all classes and races murder women every day. What context do you need?

[–]duhhhh 15 points16 points17 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

You ask for context for male violence, but you don’t need any for female violence.

You make excuses for all female violence and attribute all male violence to the idea that, unlike women, men are inherently evil.

Even if you don't care about men at all, you should stop women from raping because the majority of men convicted of raping women were sexually violated by adult women when they were boys. Multiple studies in the US, UK, and Canada have shown this. Around 10 of them cited here.

http://empathygap.uk/?p=1993#_Toc498111528

So women not raping, and rape by women being acknowledged as traumatic and treated with compassion, would probably stop a lot of women from getting raped in the future. That should matter if the goal is to stop women from getting raped rather than to demonize men. I have a feeling you, like most feminists, are more concerned with demonizing men than preventing sexual violence.

[+]BBCradiosussex -6 points-5 points-4 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

So many assumptions you made there are totally wrong. I’m not a feminist I’m just sick of this bullshit. My comments aren’t ideological they’re just plain facts. Male violence is a huge problem. For all the perpetrators of violence and terror, the single common denominator is their gender. They’re almost all men. Now you’re talking about rape. You won’t let me talk about domestic murder yet you go on some weird rape tangent where it sounds like you’re making excuses for rapists. We’d better not go there.

Also that article isn’t even peer reviewed. It’s a joke.

[–]duhhhh 12 points13 points14 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

For all the perpetrators of violence and terror, the single common denominator is their gender

What % of all men perpetrate violence and terror? What percent of abused or socioeconomically disadvantaged men that can't get equivalent help offered to women perpetrate violence? Think there could be other factors?

Also that article isn’t even peer reviewed.

The ten studies they cite are.

[+]ShoddyWitness1 points 5 years ago* [recovered] (17 children) | Copy Link

The latter half mentions Australia and I'm just laughing. Whoever did the cited 2012 study has clearly never met lower class Australian women.

Being aggressive is half their personality. You literally only have to turn your head in their direction and they'll try to rip it off.

Sexuality aside, I've seen more women get abusive with their partners than men, and the partners will just sit there and take it which is absolutely horrifying.

[–]FinallyReborn 62 points63 points64 points 5 years ago* (8 children) | Copy Link

If they speak up they will be ridiculed and blamed, "what did you do?", "you probably deserved it."

There are next to no consequences for women who abuse their male partners, if some woman was abusing her husband in public, nobody would bat an eye, if the genders were reversed, the husband would be arrested before he could lay his pinky finger on her. So women are more encouraged to abuse men since it isn't seen as an "issue" the way male on female violence is.

Had a huge guy show up with a black eye to a class I went to. We thought he was kidding when he said his girlfriend did it. He said he'd rather getted punched because that's over quickly whereas the bitchy arguing would go on for hours. I remarked that it was never right for one partner to hit another during an argument. The old lady in our class said, "Well, it depends. What did he do?" SMH

[–]Werwet10 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I do agree with the what did he do part! But not with the hypocrisy. In my all-boys school. The stronger boys were usually average in academics and the others who were strong in academics were in the good books of the teachers and it created a very strong bias that it led to actual blackmails. There were days when the academically strong students would go too far...so far that if the teachers even believe 1% of it...it would be a huge deal...and they would proceed to punch them in the face! They would never ever wonder why they hit...or listen to the person who punched. I think this is a very serious issue in this world...traces of physical violence is penalized harshly...but mental violence are let free...one of the main reasons women have an advantage over men...they pretend to be victims of physical violence and mentally gain sympathy...and have a mental advantage over men because of the laws and mindset of the society.

But...the hypocrisy when they don't ask this question when a man hits a woman...that's a no-go.

[–]Amazing_Rope_Police 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The response to blackmail is punishment, not violence. I understand wanting to punch someone like that, but mandating or legitimizing violence as a response to perceived minor trasngressions is just as bad as not doing anything about it at all.

[–]Werwet10 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But nobody were lending a ear. Everyone would try to convey everything but nobody would listen. It was only when we grew up my friend didn't give a shit and punched my classmate in the nose and he was bleeding. The teachers took measures against the boy...but nothing much happened in the end. But the teacher did ask after everything was over..."What did you do to him? Nobody will hit for no reason." All this while...they were all literally celebrating that he was caught. But when this question was asked...and they were penalized too...nothing happened after that. So...I still don't know what stopped everything...getting punched in the face...or when someone asked a valid question of mental harm instead of just physical harm.

[–]TitsOnAUnicorn 14 points15 points16 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because in societies eyes women can't abuse men so they get to do it without judgement or punishment.

[–]Stray_48 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As an Australian, yeah I’ve met some real nutjob women. Though of course not all women are like that

[–]Cookiedoughjunkie 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

part of the reason why it's more common for gay relationships for men to be abusive is because there's that whole thing where society believes 'men can't hurt women'. because of that whole punching down mentality and that men are inherently stronger. So, male on male is equal so not as big a problem.

Edit: The other big part has come from... fear of leaving a relationship. hetero relationships think they have it bad, but there's that other factor with gay relationships. CAN you find someone else. It's not that easy to find new 'gay' people in the dating pool. so if you are willing to leave this one, will you be able to find another and are you willing to put up with the abuse just to BE in a relationship.

[–]ShivasKratom3 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think that’s cuz abusive towards women is hidden. Abusive towards men is seen as kinda a joke or deserved so we can see it happen to men more

[–]real_smoky 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Well, yeah, but on the other hand, not all women are plain evil. Women also get indoctrinated by other women and some men even into believing all men are evil. So they don't see the facts while thinking they are paying attention. I hope such studies make it to them somehow. :/

Sadly feminist are very strongly against this as they think this lays the blame to alcohol instead of men and feminsts support ideology over you know actual real things and inteerventions that would help the lives of men and women. Its better to have more victims of domestic violence to them, as long as man = bad.

Alcohol companies are some of the biggest funder os "research" and adverts etc about toxic masculinity so people do not associate alcohol with its staggering link to violence, domestic violence and ill effects and instead blame men.

Eh, my male bosses have been across the spectrum including my by far best and by far worst boss. My female bosses have been clustered towards either end. I've had a few that built trust, worked hard, and got the team to collaborate internally and externally. We were happy productive workers and the organization respected us. I've had a few catty backstabbers. They were awful to work for, we weren't productive, we weren't happy, we weren't respected. The women on the team had even bigger problems than the men. These female bosses were either promoted by other catty backstabbers above them or left the organization because no one respected them. Depended on the personality type above them in the organization.

Fish are wet, water is a wetting agent.

[–]Kojima_Ergo_Sum 8 points9 points10 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It depends on how you define it because "wetness" is a super nebulous nebulous term describing the emergent property of water and other liquids that we perceive.

If we define it by the way we perceive wetness, that being its look and feel , then water is certainly wet.

If you define it as something being covered in, or saturated by water, or even something with water molecules clinging to it then water fits the definition.

How do you define water to come your position?

[–]brokedown -2 points-1 points0 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Water is simply water. Something that is wet has water (or other liquid) on it. And you can't just say that putting water on top of water makes it wet, because it just makes it more water.

Also, a hot dog is neither a sandwich or a wrap, it's a type of taco.

[–]Kojima_Ergo_Sum 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Your point being????

If and when feminism use 'historical facts' to justify women's rights today there is no good reason why we cant refer to studies from six years ago...

here's another one for you. It started 40 years ago, was originally only going to last a year, but it's still ongoing today. And note that the facts about female perpetrators of domestic violence haven't changed at all in the forty years this longitudinal study has been going on...

  • Professor Lynn Magdol and others from a Dunedin cohort found nearly twice as many women perpetrated violence as men. When the violence was severe, this ballooned to more than three times the rate.

http://www.stuff.co.nz/stuff-nation/assignments/facing-our-greatest-shame/13094512/Domestic-violence-debate-dominated-by-womens-perspectives

  • They found that 40 per cent of male members in the study had perpetrated at least one of a list of 13 physically abusive acts, ranging from slapping and kicking to forcing sex and use of a weapon, while 50 per cent of women had.

[–]ultimateformsora 13 points14 points15 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because when women do it, it isn’t a bad kind of control. It means we are doing something wrong and they are doing the “right” thing to fix us. Like when we have female platonic friends, they just automatically know they’re secretly in love with us and won’t let you hang out with them because even though you’ve admitted numerous times you aren’t attracted to her, she’s afraid something might happen.

Now if I were to say some shit like “I’m not comfortable with you having naked pictures on OnlyFans” I would be immediately met with insults about having oppressive behavior and that I’m not supportive and would be deemed a misogynist. It’s all fucked up.

okay so if factual data is misogynistic, does that mean that misogyny is the truth? Lol. And for the record, I don’t mind when feminists bring up facts that show men in a bad light (eg more likely to be rapists) and I don’t mind when MRAs bring up facts that show women in a bad light (eg more likely to be manipulative). The problem sets in when they use that to generalize half the human race and say “see, look at that! this is proof that all men are born rapists and all women are natural sociopaths!”.

No we wouldn't, because that is true. Now if you want to tell us over 98% of rapists are men rather than under 60% if rapists are men because you are choosing to bury women raping men, THEN we will challenge it.

You feminists literally call for 90% of the male population to be killed and get triggered over 1 study showing you're not absolutely perfect. Color me surprised.

Are you actually 12 or do you just act like it?

This sub is all about clutching at straws if you want people to take you seriously then post actual new studies instead of things from nearly a decade ago and claiming it’s new, nearly every post on here is old news you’re just as bad as extreme feminists trying to use old or miss information.

Yes the guys who just want a tiny bit of recognition about things like the male suicide rate, family court drama, the college degree gap and more are just as bad as the women who share hashtags like #killallmen and #ibatheinmaletears. You totally got us.

Because the information hasn't changed. In fact things have just gotten worse in recent years.
