You see it everywhere every day. One of the most disturbing things to me is when you see a thread on Reddit for example where a guy has done something bad (but not that bad) and a huge amount of comments call for violent acts to be done to them, wishing for people to get raped in prison, castrated or burned because they "deserve it" for being a douche, and those comments always get tons of support.

People act like they're morally virtuous people and white knight every chance they get for the sake of social justice but when it comes to men there's no tolerance: you fuck, up people will fantasise about killing you and thats socially acceptable..

My favorite debate. The more socially “disadvantaged” you appear; female, gay, non-white, trans, handicapped, the more society defends you in all situations with no questions asked. A black man will be held more accountable than a black female, a white man will be held far more accountable than a trans Indian man, etc. The less perceived obstacles you have to overcome, the more inherently guilty you must be.

This is not new news, nor does it highlighting anything we didn't already know. It just does that little thing that is often disparaged by those who reject irrelevant things such as scientific fact.

This information is not the enemy of men, It should not make you angry at women, it proves men make more sacrifice in society, these facts are the enemy of feminism because it shows that society worries and throws itself in front of the proverbial bullets shot at women in much greater proportions and severity.

Whilst the data is imbalanced women are still not treated as "equals"

If any movement needs to fight how society actually acts to achieve its spoken aims, its feminism because whilst this continues they are seen and treated as weaker. They are the ones who need this data to become level to achieve their aims.

I don't see it as mens problem or burden society is like this (we all have the ability to opt out), we tend to be good at it and showing we care as much about all humans to the extent we will risk ourselves for strangers, be those children or women, only highlights those that don't or won't

Why bring ourselves down to the level of a group that is the cause of such disparity in empathy.

This data only shows that one gender is prepared to sacrifice across the board. If those words were being spoken to a feminist right now, the smile they would see would be one of total moral superiority, when nobody gives you sympathy or kudos, no matter what you do, every act you do for others is altruistic.

All this tells me is women need to do better

Agree with the sentiment, but 'hardwired' doesn't look to be what this proves. It could simply be societal/cultural factors that cause the bias, not necessarily genetic or biological. More evidence would need to be presented to prove that fact.

We predicted a bias in typecasting, such that women are more easily typecast as victims and men as perpetrators. In Study 1, participants more readily assumed a harmed target was female than male, but especially when the targets were described as ‘victim’ and ‘perpetrator’. Study 2 participants typecast animated shapes perpetuating harm as male and victimized shapes as female. In Study 3, female victims were expected to experience more pain from an ambiguous joke and participants desired harsher punishments for male perpetrators. In Study 4, managers were perceived as less moral and fair when they fired a group of female (versus male) employees. Across four studies (N=1,319), harm was evaluated differently based on victim and perpetrator gender, suggesting a gender bias in moral typecasting.

There are a lot of very good evolutionary and psychological reasons for this bias.

Be grateful that you can see it and acknowledge it for what it is - proof that men and women are so different socially and psychologically that any claims for equality are built on a foundation of sand.

You can either try to change this fact or adapt your own philosophy and behaviour to the world that is and not the world that ought to be.

Is there a way to get a cross cultural study done so we can get a rough measurement of how much this bias ("gynocentrism") is a result of sociological factors (which may come from feminist narratives) versus biological factors (which may come from patriarchal instincts that males are more natural leaders and therefore held more responsible)? I'd like to be able to tell how much this is a reflection of the belief that broad gender roles are purely arbitrary social constructs that unfairly and disproportionately disadvantage women and how much it is a reflection of the reality that broad gender roles are social constructs build around natural tendencies that both advantage and disadvantage both men and women depending on what part of nature the culture wants to reinforce or counteract in regulating their mutual interaction.

Limiting a study like this to western or heavily westernized cultures is more practical but it doesn't tell us how much society is to blame for it all. If a similar study could be done that included a variety of cultures across the globe with varying levels of westernization we could understand the relationship between biological and sociological gynocentrism.

Is artifical feminism that consistently disempowers men to blame for the discrepancy? Or does a natural patriarchy that empowers men include this as a balancing factor to ensure women are treated fairly under the system of natural relations? A cross cultural study like this one could answer the first question, making the second question much easier to answer and the answer much easier to prove.

Note: I am not using the term patriarchy as in the specific context of patriarchy theory, which posits that male leadership is both entirely artifical and inherently harmful. I am not supporting blaming men for women's problems or supporting the idea that women were always more opressed. I am merely using the term in the limited sense of "male leadership", whether institutional or informal.
