this is the most telling part of this womans predatory nature, "When I found out there was a tape, I was in shock. I felt betrayed. There are several states that ban teachers having sex with their students because it's too easy to manipulate them.

Teachers have a lot more power than people give them credit for. They're given extremely wide discretion and their word's typically taken over the word of a student.

Her actions are indeed illegal as far as I can tell. She plead guilty to an improper relationship between teacher and student.

Some important quotes from the source:

Even if the relationship is consensual, an improper sexual act between teacher and student is illegal.

The law covers the employees of public or private secondary and primary schools. It is illegal to engage in sexual contact or intercourse with any student that is officially enrolled in a public or private school.

Under the law, it isn’t necessary for the student to be enrolled in the educator’s class or be under the age of 18 for a violation to occur.

A sexual relationship between teacher and student conviction is punishable by up to 20 years in a Texas prison and a fine of no more than $10,000.

Let the record show that she was fired for having "an inappropriate relationship with a student." Further, that student was not HER student. And, most important of all, 17 is legal age of consent in Texas, so maybe you should all put your pitchforks down.

She isn't a rapist, the student was legally able to give consent to having sex with her. She is, however, a fucking idiot for screwing a student at her place of work. That is why she lost her teaching certification and likely will never get it back.

Now, if you have examples of male teacher/female students OF LEGAL AGE in the STATE OF TEXAS where the male teacher went to prison, feel free to share them.

I don't care if the teacher was a man and the younger one was a girl, in my eyes 17 is an adult, most places the age of consent is 16 anyway.

I'm not hating on anyone or anything like that, but from the article (and from that only) the kid seems to be the guilty one. I didn't read if there is evidence of the teacher having sex with other students, but the kid is of age - he can consent. Now I know it's immoral for a teacher to have sex with a student (I don't know if it's illegal, im guessing, in the states), but she isn't a "sexual predator" and she, in my opinion, has the right to sue the kid for taping and especially distributing a video, no matter how short.
