Request the female only bathroom be changed to unisex as well, now that the other unisex bathroom has more traffic.

You're making me nervous with that "safe space" talk. I'm reaching for my mace.

Would you like this one or this one?

Safe spaces are my trigger. Checkmate.

[–]motoko_urashima 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Almost as anger inducing as Settlers of Catan.

[–]DoItLive247 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Does that safe space have puppies, cookies, crayons and juice boxes?

When I was in college, some of the older buildings didnt' have doors on the bathroom stalls. So if you had to crap, you basically had to make eye contact with other people while you did it.

10 seconds of investigation revealed the womens restroom directly next to it had doors on all the stalls (I looked through the doorway when a girl came out).

I complained to the campus facilitites office and was told there were no funds to purchase doors (and apparently hadn't been for over 100 years) so I suggested maybe they could take half the doors from teh womens room and that way both bathroom woudl have SOME privacy.

I was told that if I continued to harass the facilities office I'd be put on academic probation.

[–]TheRealMouseRat 36 points37 points38 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

trying to give men equal treatment as women is seen as "harassment" these days..

[–]khal534 15 points16 points17 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Smells like a privacy and title 9 lawsuit waiting to brew.

Are these the people who have to clean up the shit from the floor next to the toilet?

[–]LaughingAtIdiots 117 points118 points119 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Title IX complaint. Make it.

[–]wd64 16 points17 points18 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

title ix and state laws as well. many require = number of men only and women only bathrooms. of course, of the other floors have a unisex and mens only, there really isn't anything wrong with this

[–]guimi2 28 points29 points30 points 11 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

No men's bathroom?

[–]gannex[S] 16 points17 points18 points 11 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

not on that floor. There are men's rooms on other floors.

[–]guimi2 14 points15 points16 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You should complain

[–]gannex[S] 7 points8 points9 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

to whom?

[–]Tmomp 8 points9 points10 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If you're in the U.S. and there's a Title 9 officer. Otherwise you might try the media.

[–]guimi2 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ask to your teachers. i don't know how your school works.

Probably to the head teacher, even threat with denounce them if you would actually do it.

[–]5HourEnergyExtra 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Is that discrimination? My university's like that too except there's always a men's room somewhere nearby. There isn't always a men's room where the women's room is and there isn't always a women's room where the men's room is. I've never counted but I'd bet it's basically an equal distribution across campus.

[–]PM_ME_UR_PLANTS 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

It depends. What you are saying isn't, but some schools are handling their 60-40 ratio by getting rid of men's bathrooms rather than making honest efforts to support men/boys.

[–]5HourEnergyExtra 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Hmm, do you have a resource showing which schools?

[–]PM_ME_UR_PLANTS 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There have been posts on this sub before. I'm guessing they were real since plumbing codes are designed around fixtures per person, and so there can be problems when coed dorms don't have balanced populations.

[–]gannex[S] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

what's the 60-40 ratio? Every school I've ever been to beyond high school has had more girls than guys (granted I'm only 20).

[–]PM_ME_UR_PLANTS 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, the ratio in most colleges is about 60% women to 40% men. I was lazy and didn't label since it's a common figure.

Because "equality."

[–]keeb119 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just from a pure observational standpoint, men seem to urinate quicker then women. And that means less lines and less waiting. Which means women can get back to class quicker.

[–]jimmywiddle 9 points10 points11 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

why indeed.....

[–]PM_ME_UR_PLANTS 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, there are more women, so how else are they going to be pay if there aren't more grants for women?

[–]Tmomp 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The same reason we're in this subreddit.

[–]yourotherusername 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It depends. My universities library had men's bathrooms on 1 and 3, and women's bathrooms on floor 2 and 4. Or maybe it was the other way around.

[–]ExpendableOne 53 points54 points55 points 11 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

This has essentially been feminism's definition of equality from day one.

[–]gannex[S] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

that's what I'm saying. The bathroom itself is not that much of an affront to equality, but it is a really good visual representation of the problem.

[–]Eurydemus[🍰] 10 points11 points12 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm sure there's a colored bathroom down the hall. Why the hell are they discriminating against those poor students. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

[–]Davidisontherun 9 points10 points11 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

OP should put a sign under the women's one saying "white women only"

[–]yourotherusername 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I mean, if you look at the signs they do depict white people...

[–]lloyddavis57 20 points21 points22 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because who gives a shit about mens privacy and comfort of going to a bathroom? -__-

[–][deleted] 27 points28 points29 points 11 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

First chick that gets hit on for going in there, that shit'll end.

[–]CarbonBlob78 9 points10 points11 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True that.

[–]Arby01 26 points27 points28 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

nope. the kids that hit on her would be up on harassment charges - which wouldn't necessarily be wrong.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

True. I guess they could just piss outside.

Oh no wait, then they'd be regarded as sex offenders.

Time to homeschool.

[–]Areddoorpaintedblack 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Probably not, the chicks that would actually use it are more manly then most of us.

[–]InBaggingArea -2 points-1 points0 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[+]Frankly_George 11 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

Dirty protest.

It's not a protest, that's how women pee in public restrooms.

Source: cleaned restrooms at a popular restaurant. Womens rooms were always filthy compared to the mens.

[–]PM_ME_UR_PLANTS 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[–]InBaggingArea 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

PM_ME_YOUR_PANTS. Reading error, context driven.

[–]ExpendableOne 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Realistically though, the logic of "if you allow men and women in washrooms together means that they're just going to have sex all the time in there" is kind silly. By that same logic, sex segregated washroom would be bad because "gays and lesbians would be having sex in them all the time".

[–]InBaggingArea 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes. Comment not serious.

[–]Azothlike 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

96% of the population is heterosexual, so those two hypothetical risks do not hold equal weight.

Those just indicate dress code. Go into the one to the left in that dress and you can enjoy using pee-pee among wee-wees.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

What does the sign say? Men need to leave if a woman enters?

[–]gannex[S] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm pretty sure it's 2D....So you know what school I went to? I guess if you've been to that school you know that SJW issues are a serious problem there (moreso than any universities I've ever been to).

[–]ilovemagicmush 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

yeah haha, my gf goes there. i remember looking at that and thinking "wow this is kind of sexist", but i dont really mind to be honest. just dont piss on the seats please.

look like discrimination if you ask me.. forcing the men to deal with the trannys

[–]gannex[S] 9 points10 points11 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

isn't the whole point that transexuals want to go to the women's bathroom? The unisex bathroom is used by 99.99% men, so the trans people wouldn't even get what they want -- which is access to the ladie's room.

[+]HappyGerbil88 11 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

well the trans-women want to use the women's bathroom, and the trans-men would want to use the men's room. The thing is, nobody ever complains about transmen using the men's room, so the only problem is really the trans-women being called creeps for using the women's room. I support more gender-neutral bathrooms for trans rights (and other reasons), but having one gender-neutral and one women's room is definitely sexist. I know some places have done alternating floors (eg, the next floor would have a gender-neutral and a men's room), you should push for that.

[–]Azothlike 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Transwomen outnumber transmen at least 2 to 1. So, those two issues are not exactly weighted equally.

[–]modernbenoni 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Was this actually done in consideration of trans people?

Watch the South Park episode Cissy (S18 E3) if you haven't already. It is shockingly on topic and presents the downsides of this in a way far better than I could explain.

This is probably meant to mitigate overflow from the women's room.

Edit: Downvotes without reasonable explanations or retorts will be interpreted as upvotes.

[–]scanspeak 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because women spend too much time staring in the mirror and gossiping.

[–]Endless_Summer 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Is this a predominantly women's school? How many stalls are in the women's room compared to the other? If you don't have these answers, then your statement is purely speculation, adding nothing to the conversation. That's why you're being downvoted. And because you're a troll.

[+]InWadeTooDeep -9 points-8 points-7 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Those questions are irrelevant, speculation is fine, fuck you.

It makes perfect sense to have an overflow.
