Do nothing, certainly for a month, take the time to let this sink in.

For the ring, put it in a box or on a shelf and come back to it in a month, but for now do nothing, just take some time for yourself, this is major

You've won, you got out without facing jail time or being homeless, that's a major victory for all men, so just take time, have a beer, go running, hit the gym, see friends and family.

But do nothing, don't act on anything at the moment as everything will still be very raw and you'll act in haste.

I have watched a movie about throwing a ring into a volcano and seems to be a pretty long walk.

I told my ex to keep hers. I hope it haunts her! The ring I had was just cheap and holds no emotional value to me.

I’ve kept my wedding ring in a drawer by my bed since the divorce was finalized 2 years ago. I keep it to remind me not to make the same mistakes again. Eventually going to have it embedded on a sign that reads “Never Again” (with the ring as an interpunct between the two words).

Might mount it on a wall in my garage or something 🤷🏻‍♂️

Crap, I put mine somewhere and forgot about it. Couldn’t tell you where that thing is at all. That’s the best policy. I will find it again one day and maybe give it to one of our sons.

I just threw mine in a box with a few other things....I don't want to make and rash choice that I'll regret down the line. I got out pretty good so now I just have to deal with emotions and I don't want to make any choices based on emotion right now.

Its all about milestones, getting through the 1st (insert uncomfortable scenario) soon they dont sting as much, then all the sudden you don't even notice, and view her like an ex employee - still once someone you knew more intimately, but now someone you have to know/see only because of the kids connection. She'll get out there and live her life and sadly realize that the grass isn't greener, but will still likely adapt a little easier as they at a surface level dont share the same pair bonding effects that us men do. Life moves on in a weird way, good way but always a little weird or sense of something not right, or missing - with that man, congrats, relax now, do whatever you want to do, I say get out there and have fun ASAP view no woman ever again as THE ONE, but more so 'for now" live your life for you and the kids, learn to be happy alone

I sold it, but it was a weird process. I couldn't get back anywhere near the amount I'd spent on that ring (around 12k). I held onto it for months thinking I was gonna make an effort to sell it for the right price. Then one day it just hit me....I was still trying to find value in my old marriage. That thought was like a light bulb that let out a flood of existentialism. I realized that I needed to let go and stop trying to find value where there was none left.

So I drive up the road to the nearest jewelry store and sold the ring for a whopping 300$. It was a huge relief honestly. Before I sold it, I thought about that ring all the time. Once it was gone I never thought about it again (prior to this post lol).

Oh and actually, the jeweler was pretty cool. He let me come to the back and smelt the ring. That helped a little too.

Take time to savor the feeling of being burned alive. You'll feel so much better when your zero is calibrated in hell and you're a year into your journey.

I got into philosophy, self improvement and discovery. Therapy, dredging up wounds and working on myself hard. I got a psych eval because my ex accused me of being a narcissist and it turns out that I have a pretty clean bill of health.

Worked on my entire situation. After a year I started dating a woman 10 years younger and 80 pounds lighter than my ex. She's grateful for what I do for her, patient, kind, and down for me.

I'm buying guns, working on old trucks and enjoying a new higher paying job I jumped for that's much less stress. I'm not drowning in debt because of my exes spending problems.

And now I'm so happy and grateful for every morning I wake up next to this beautiful woman and getting to face each day with humility and a sense of calm satisfaction.

I was crying in my car every night for 4 months before and after work. It does get better. I went through a CEAP program and some other stuff so I wouldn't off myself. I ended up canceling my life insurance policy as the temptation to eject was too high.

Life is good now.

I'm much stronger and harder than I was before. My ex is with some limp dick loser or another that she's playing for a fool here and there and I couldn't care less. Onto the better parts.

I sold my ring to a local good/silver shop. They paid me for the weight/carat of the gold and gave me the stones. Lost the stones along the way because I didn't care about them.

Your situation turned out pretty well. Take time off, hit the gym, maybe get a FWB or side chick for a bit. It'll help you forget about your ex. Don't get married again. Unless you want kids there's no reason to. All it is is a way to make a normal breakup difficult, painful, and expensive.
