Hey everyone, I’ve been wrestling with a clause in my MSA that I can’t seem to overlook. It states that my ex-wife will have final say on all major decisions concerning our children, covering everything from education and healthcare to extracurriculars and religious upbringing.

I’m concerned that this grants her disproportionate power and effectively sets up a sole custody dynamic within what’s supposed to be a joint custody arrangement. It’s important to me that our children aren’t treated as possessions but as individuals caught in the aftermath of our failed marriage.

I fear that my ex-wife may abuse this privilege to assert control over me and manipulate my time with the kids. We already have a subscription to OFW for communication, which helps document exchanges, but I’m seeking advice on how to address and prevent any misuse of this authority. Am I overanalyzing the situation, or are my concerns valid? Any suggestions on how to navigate this situation and communicate effectively with her when I feel this authority is being abused?
