She’s trying to reestablish some relationship with you.

Unless you suspect she’s that whacked out on drugs or booze by 11am, it seems like she’s trying to stay in your mind, which seems to be working.

What do you want out of a relationship with her, if you want one at all? Be honest with yourself about what’s realistic and what you truly want. Unfortunately, you’ll most likely have to continue interacting with her on some level because of the kid.

I'm so sorry. That all sucks. Perhaps she is trying to receive some form of vindication over her shitty part in this by making sure you see "how much she cares for your child". Maybe she thinks "I am sending him proof that I care for our child" through them. Maybe it's something completely different. I just wanted to give you an option you may not have already considered. Could be legit accidents. I removed my soon-to-be ex wife’s name from my phone pretty early, as I didn’t want to see it but need to stay in occasional contact as we share a daughter. So I changed it to ‘daughter’s mum’, however this puts her right beside ‘daughter’ in my contacts. Haven’t mixed them up yet though.

Just delete the texts. They are pointless, fake, and she clearly doesn't care about her son. Plus your son will be even more confused as to why she is texting him during the day. Don't let that druggie anywhere near your son.

She is sick—it is a mental disorder. It’s called NPD. There is less than a 1% chance of curing it, and the person has to acknowledge the disorder and want to change it. This will not happen. So, learn the grey rock technique. Do not answer her. Do not engage her. Isolate yourself from her as much as possible. Do not talk about her to your son. He will figure out who and what she is when he is old enough. If you give her any type of supply, positive or negative—either, it won’t matter to her—that will fuel her. She will eventually come back to you with apologies. This is when you really need to run!!! I cannot emphasize this enough. Do NOT fall for it. The NPD person will try to get you to come a little bit closer—just to they can slap the emotional snot out of you some more. It’s fun for them. Ask me how I know. Do. Not. Respond. To. Her. Under. Any. Circumstances. Communicate only through a parenting app, keep it impersonal and cold, and speak in third person. Ignore content that doesn’t have to do with your son. For example you might get, “John needs xyz for school, but I suppose you’re too uninvolved to care.” Respond, “xyz has been handled.”

I interpret this as her “talking right through you” as if you don’t even exist i.e. the digital version of talking and pretending like you’re not even in the room. I would document but ignore these messages, do not respond.

How old is the child? If they are old enough to read and write get them one of those phones designed for children which basically just allows them to text / call their parents.

Whatever relationship she's in is either on the rocks or has ended, and she finally realises that she royally screwed up with you because you were the only one who gave her security.

She is now a single mom with nothing with another son she barely sees. Whatever fog there was has lifted, and the reality isn't good, so she is testing the water with you.

Sorry to hear about all the pain she is causing you. In my opinion, if she barely even remembers to call her own child unless you make sure it happens - maybe she is just haphazardly texting these things throughout the day without much thought.

I would Test her. Have your kid ask her for some school supplies. Then, you'll know

You don't have closure because you are looking for the smallest sign that she still cares about you. Tell her to stop texting your phone and stick to those boundaries. Stop trying to figure out why. You will never know the real reason.

Obviously, your living rent free in her head. She parces it as contacting your son. Just delete the texts unless it actually is something requiring attention.
