Why is it so difficult finding true love?

I loved her truly, the problem is she didn't love me back.

In my case I feel attracted to women with fucked up relationships with their father and are probably damaged beyond repair emotionally. It would almost be funny if it was not tragic at this point.

I know nothing about her, I like her, then later find out her father is dead, a narcissist or just bailed never to be seen again.

They all looked completely different from one another so I'm really confused why this is happening to me.

I am very cynical about it. I am old, and I was married for 18 years until the divorce. Still, I do not completely dismiss it because I know a few couples that seem to still be in love after over 20 years.

Love is a human emotion just like hate. Think about it: think of someone you HATED years ago, someone you couldn’t stand……. Do you still hate them with the same INTENSITY years later? Most people would say no.

Love is the same thing. People are under this illusion that love only goes In an upward trajectory, never fading, never losing intensity… AND ALWAYS GETS BETTER!!!

And that….. my friends, is complete nonsense. Love fades and leaves. And being destroyed financially and emotionally in court just isn’t worth “TRUE LOVE”

True love was always just a marketing scheme. I don’t think humans are suited to mating for life.

We go through so many changes, and there are so many internal and external stresses, and we have so many needs, that having a few long term relationships across of lifetime seems to be the limit.

Love is a choice. I guess some people think it just strikes them and is kismet. That is lust. Lust is passionate and addicting. Choosing to love someone after that has worn off and investing into them is a choice and it is HARD. finding someone with grit that will weather life's storms with you is true love. True love is that first 18 months when we're drunk on a new woman. After that it's a lot of work by both parties. It's like the term "soulmates." It's not real.
