I have to remember the dates of the article but I still feel like we have a way to go with womens rights and treatment. He did this because he knew it would cause her emotional distress. He also treated her like property and wanted her to suffer in a way that if he couldn’t have her [sexually], no man could. This is a woman being treated as property, not as a human being. Don’t ever tell me men don’t know what they’re doing.

The poor wife, those doctors are pure trash and horrifying to learn the husband went on to work in a women's prison. Male doctors terrify me tbh. I've had some unpleasant experiences.

I am not promoting fear. But I have personally seen men that I have broken up with turn into an entirely different person. They have physical power over you and he counted on you being a doormat, HOW DARE YOU, rage follows. How far it will go is up to fate.

They are angry. You were their bathroom rug to piss all over. Old faithful. They broke you! But when you rise up they are beyond upset. It is an affront to their power. They OWN you in their minds.

Don’t underestimate this rage. I have personally been shocked to the bone in the transformations I’ve seen.

Edit to also say you didn’t think he would cheat, use you, abuse you…but he did. He did all of that. He is capable of more terrible things

Tl;dr: Doctor refers his wife to his doctor friend for medical care. Before wife’s surgery she says she wants a divorce. Doctor friend allows him to perform on doctor’s wife while she is under anesthesia. Doctor sews her vagina shut and removes some of her genitalia (clit perhaps?). They both gaslight her when she says she is not recovering properly. Wife has to have at least 3 corrective surgeries. Doctor tells her “I’ve fixed it so you’ll never screw around on me again.”

“Jury selection began Tuesday in the civil suit trial of a San Luis Obispo doctor accused of surgically mutilating his ex-wife.

The lawsuit, filed by attorneys for Debbie Crandall-Millar in 1985, accuses her former husband, Dr. Glenn C. Millar, of sewing shut her vaginal opening in 1983 during a hysterectomy scheduled to be performed by another doctor.

That doctor, Robert W. Trateau, is also named in the suit. It claims the surgery was performed with Trateau’s knowledge. Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center, where the hysterectomy was performed, is also named in the suit.

Testimony in the trial is expected to begin Sept. 21 or 22.

Crandall-Millar is asking for an unspecified amount of damages, claiming fraud, battery, and medical negligence.

No criminal charges have ever been filed against either doctor in connection with the allegations described in the suit, according to the San Luis Obispo District Attorney’s Office.

Both physicians practice obstetrics and gynecology. Millar has offices in San Luis Obispo and Grover City; Tatreau practiced in this county from 1981 to mid-1984. Tatreau’s staff privileges were suspended at Sierra Vista and San Luis Obispo County General Hospital in 1984, hospital officials said.

He now practices in Colorado, according to the suit.

Crandall-Millar, a 34-year-old mother of two, is charging that Tatreau allowed Millar into a Sierra Vista hospital operating room during her 1983 hysterectomy, and allowed Millar to operate on her. She had recently told Millar she wanted a divorce, according to court records. The suit charges that during the operation, Millar sewed shut the opening to her vagina, removed other portions of her genitals, and caused irreparable injury and deformation to her genital area. The suit charges Millar and Tatreau with battery and medical negligence, and claims the hospital inadequately screened its doctors.

Jay Hieatt, the San Luis Obispo attorney for Sierra Vista, declined to comment on the suit or Tatreau or Millar.

Robert Hilsinger, Millar’s Los Angeles attorney, also declined to comment on the suit, “but I can tell you, on behalf of Dr. Millar - he says it’s all a bunch of lies.”

Randall Cook, the San Luis Obispo attorney for Tatreau, did not return phone calls on the matter.

The suit claims Millar’s actions during the September 1983 surgery “were done with the intent to cause (Crandall-Millar) to suffer shame (and) humiliation” and that Millar “knew (Crandall-Millar) would be emotionally distraught” when she discovered her condition.

But Crandall-Millar didn’t discover the mutilation until she went to see a Los Angeles physician in June 1984, according to the suit.

Before that, though she complained to Tatreau about not feeling like she was recovering from the surgery, both Millar and Tatreau “told her she was fine and healed … (though they) knew it to be false,” the suit charges.

Since seeing other doctors in 1984; the suit claims Crandall-Millar has had two corrective surgeries to repair the damage to her genital area. It said she is scheduled to undergo a third corrective surgery after the trial ends.

Crandall-Millar’s attorney, David Sabih of Monterey, said the doctors who performed those corrective surgeries will testify on behalf of Crandall-Millar at the trial.

According to the suit, Crandall-Millar asked Millar for a referral to a gynecologist in June 1983. He told her to go to Tatreau. Tatreau recommended the hysterectomy which was performed, the suit states.

But the suit charges that Dr. Millar intentionally referred his estranged wife to Tatreau, a friend and colleague, so Millar would be able to perform the surgery. Millar intended to perform the surgery on his wife out of “secret evil personal motives,” the suit charges.

According to the suit, a month after Millar referred her to Tatreau, Crandall-Millar “informed (Millar) that she intended to leave him and obtain a divorce.”

The hysterectomy was performed in September 1983, according to the suit, which says Crandall-Millar separated from Millar in January 1984.

In June 1984, Crandall-Millar consulted with the first outside physician, and in August 1984 underwent her first corrective surgery, the suit states. The second was reportedly performed in January 1985. Her attorneys filed the lawsuit in May 1985.

Tatreau has four malpractice suits filed against him in San Luis Obispo County - two of them as a co-defendant with Dr. Millar.

Millar has eight malpractice suits filed against him in this county, according to court records.

Both Tatreau and Millar are licensed in the state and their licenses show no official disciplinary actions against them, said officials at the State Board of Medical Quality Assurance.

The BMQA in 1986 accused Tatreau of incompetence and gross negligence involving incidents during his San Luis Obispo practice. He is scheduled to have a hearing before a BMQA administrative law judge here in October on those charges.”

I’m concerned about vagina tightening surgery even being a thing in the first place. The muscular nature of it is why exercise is used. I really hope this is an outdated practise no longer being done.

Anyone else remember this-? Back quite a few years ago (2005ish to 2008ish) a doctor was arrested and tried for doing this to multiple women patients, one of whom in the complaint said she remembered the doctor hissing in her ear right before she went under, I'm going to take all the fun bits too, and another who reported her vulva now looked "like a frilled lizard" because he took way more than he was expected to , which he then tried to pass off as the cancer being more widespread than was originally thought. He was convicted, but I cannot remember what country this was, and search engines are of little use these days. It went viral in whatever exact year it made the news. Anyone-?

ETA A really lousy horror movie was made, based loosely on this asshole doctor, just a year or two after the case went viral, but I can't remember the title (I rented it from either netflix online or blockbuster online, getting an actual disc thru the mail). Maybe someone's seen the movie-?

This is not the "love doctor" case which went viral a few years later; the women were older , as was the doctor, and they were going in for actual health concerns such as cancer, not for 'better sex lives'.
