Sadly, this doesn't surprise me at all. To this day, people are still trying to minimize Chris Watts' horrible crimes by claiming his wife Shannan was domineering, lying about her illnesses, doing MLM scams, etc (as if ANY of that would excuse what he did to his family even if it was true). And some even believe that the smoothies Shannan gave him made him do it! I'm not kidding.

So.....yeah. It didn't surprise me when numerous people started painting Gabby as a crazy abuser because she scratched her boyfriend's face and was sobbing during the police altercation. Nor did it shock me when they speculated that her boyfriend lived in fear of his 90 pound girlfriend clawing him to death!

Even now that she's dead and he's on the run; this poor woman will continue to be slandered

There’s a good study that essentially says women primarily commit reactive abuse. Like 97% of cases where the woman is “abusive” is in response to abuse from a male partner. If a man ever says his ex abused him you should be extremely suspicious of him and vet even harder.

Since there were so many comments too, just imagine how many people have this mindset.

This is exactly what reactive abuse looks like, fyi. People are literally calling HER the abuser because of her reaction to his gaslighting.

It's disheartening to see those comments but it's important to bear witness to it because we need to educate ourselves and other women about what REACTIVE ABUSE is. His defense team will attempt to paint him as the victim and try to claim he murdered her in self defense. And there will be people who buy it. If the cop who responded that day testifies he might double down and insist that SHE was the one acting crazy and "hurting" the murderer. The swaying of public opinion is another byproduct of REACTIVE ABUSE.

A jury of our peers includes these people (the ones waiting comments calling them both "toxic"). It's infuriating because REACTIVE ABUSE is evidentially very misunderstood, even by women suffering through it.

Quick summary I pulled from Google for those who don't know what reactive abuse is or refuse to believe that it's real for some reason:

"Abusers rely on reactive abuse because it gives them “proof” that the victim is unstable, mentally ill, or delusional. Abusers may hold these reactions against an abused person indefinitely, possibly bringing up specific instances of self defense years after the event occurred.

A reaction to abuse might even be used by an assailant to go to police and file their own protective orders against a victim.

It is a method of manipulation that attempts to make an abused person feel responsible for acts of violence. The longer this shifting of blame occurs, the longer a victim may experience feelings of shame, guilt, or blame for reactive outbursts to continued abuse."

The reactions are so disturbing, but unfortunately not surprising.

I believe those scratches were actually self defense marks and that he’d already been physically violent with her. It’s obvious from the way she immediately takes responsibility that she didn’t want him to get in trouble. She’s breaking down because he’s been breaking her down mentally and emotionally and telling her she’s too emotional/anxious when she was likely responding to abusive behavior.

I’ve seen this behavior from multiple abusive men, to myself and other women, when they interact with police, suddenly the victim, suddenly mild mannered, deferring to authority. You can see the act in his words and his body language. The men who want to paint her as being the actor and abuser are telling on themselves.

It’s also very clear he was jealous of what she was trying to build on social media, with him saying he didn’t believe she could do it (before murdering her). Often the abusive/violent behavior ramps up when the nvm feels emasculated by his partner’s success or ambitions (similar to abuse that happens after a baby is born, the woman’s focus isn’t 100% on him).

This is a real-time full view we are getting of the patriarchy at play right now.

Imagine you are dead at the hands of a LVM you made the mistake of trusting, he was abusive, you scratched him a few times because of what he was doing. There’s footage of you being in emotional distress because of it. You die and there’s all these swarms of people thinking he was innocent, saying you were the abusive one.

That’s exactly what is happening to Gabby, make no mistake, if this had been any of us it would have been the exact same discourse of blaming the woman. The one that is not even there to defend themselves anymore. Somehow to blame, right?

I just read a second ago that the whole reason they were pulled over is because a witness saw Brian slapping her on the street and called the police with a description of the vehicle. And yet the police still blamed her.

Thank goodness for FDS. Sometimes it is like a breath of fresh air coming on here. I cannot believe how many people are making speculations of this being an “accident” that he killed her. Like saying he probably pushed her away and she hit her head on a rock. Or he was trying to defend himself. Or that he wasn’t doing a good job coping with her anxiety in some way but he probably snapped because of how she was treating him. Would the doubt be there at all if this was reversed??? Because I doubt it.

Not just YouTube, I’ve seen comments all over reddit like this. Men were really standing up for Brian. They want to assume he didn’t do it. Kept talking about how the video shows that he was unlikely the one who did anything and probably drove away from HER abuse.

I’m seeing FDS members banned from subreddits for incel-like culture. But the average man on reddit is an incel and willing to blame women for anything.

I stopped watching the dashcam after a few minutes of her talking to the cop because I recognized what was happening immediately. I couldn’t bear to watch the cop invalidate her and blame shift. I’ve been frantic like that, I know what that is. Out of respect for her I couldn’t watch it anymore.
