Koreans do that all the time. There's also a snack food called bbushu bbushu that is basically ramen you are supposed to eat dry with the seasoning.
Can't say I see an issue with the occasional snack, as long as it is occasional and a snack. I'm not sure why being a doctor is an issue here either. Do you think doctors should forgo cake at all times? Brownies?

Maybe my own boases are bleeding over. I just figure he should be able to cook food instead of eating dry ramen, but i guess you're right: no amount of college will teach you that. I'm just surprised his wife puts up with that kind of weird. Not that it matters, but he isn't asian and neither is she so I have no idea where he would have picked that habit up.
Why would you extrapolate that to all snacks? Cake and brownies pretty universally meant to be eaten after cooking as well. If he were eating the dry mix out of the box with a spoon, is that considered normal now? Maybe I'm out of touch. 🤷🏼♀️

You're missing my point. I never mentioned college at all. He commented that he loved eating it that way, not that it is the only way he knows how to eat it. If he hung out with Asian friends he probably learned how to do it. It seems a bizarre leap to say he can't cook at all or make other assumptions, and it's particularity odd you'd point out he's a doctor.
The mention of cakes etc was because it sounded like you found the snacking distasteful, rather than the method. It seems you meant the method. But I don't see that much difference in how one approaches junk food because junk is junk.
And yeah, some ppl love eating cookie dough. I'm not one of them but I think it's only an issue if snacking becomes meals and they literally don't know how to make anything else, hence my lack of commentary on KD guy.
Edit: oh I see what you were saying about college. Indeed, it doesn't translate necessarily into life skills or even critical thinking skills.
