In these situations I always save my dignity and don’t respond at all. I walk away. If someone responds in those ways, it means they’re emotionally immature and nothing you say will make them change their mind, so there’s no point in engaging. They view any constructive communication as an attack on their ego, that’s how fragile they are.

Recap of the last three disagreements I’ve had with men: 1) LVX was late and ornery for no reason. Turns it around on me “oh so this is MY fault” (um, yes). 2) male friend: I gently confronted him for saying some hurtful things to me (again), and he blames me for not telling him sooner. 3) male coworker got huffy and stormed off when I played dumb fox and refused to let him gaslight me when he was being sexist.

That is NOT an apology. That's them putting all the blame on you. Yes, we are all technically responsible for our own emotions and handling them, but they played a part in evoking those emotions (through their words or behaviours). And if they can't/won't acknowledge and take responsibility for evoking that reaction in you, then they literally don't care about you. Good people take responsibility. They feel terrible when something they did hurt someone else, they apologize for hurting them and they do better. They don't try to justify it or blame the person for their reaction.

NO don't be sorry that I "feel that way", be sorry that you DID SOMETHING that made me feel that way. Stop frickin gaslighting me into thinking that my reactions aren't justified or rational. FFS.
