Urghh can’t tell you how many dates I’ve been on where they turn up in scruffy jeans, shoes or gym kit on one occasion. It’s an absolute no for me now. I always dress smartly, will get my hair blown out for a date. Not wasting the expensive lipstick on the LVM anymore!

Men are visual creatures with a side of misogyny followed by standards that aren’t meant for them. You definitely have to be careful of the company of these men. They will look at you, critique you and your housing (clean, comfort, decor) and see you based on that. Oh, it’s nice and comfy and you like candles in the bathroom? You have good taste. No messes? Great. No vermin? Excellent. But turn it the other way around and the garbage in their rooms are piled high and their moms are cleaning the other areas of the house.

I think the reason why gay men are on the whole much better groomed and dressed than heterosexual men and have more presentable homes is that men are indeed visual creatures but they don't feel entitled to sex from other men and make the effort. They respect other men and seek their approval.

The opposite applies with heterosexual men's treatment of women. They feel entitled to our labour as well as sex and turn fulfilment of all those benefits into something to look down on us for. They know they aren't worth it.

Gay men can be particularly critical of women's appearance and equally misogynistic. They don't live outside the patriarchy and the benefits it bestows on them as men.

So I was happy to suggest my sidebar that doubled as a media console that cost $1.5k and she’s like my husband wouldn’t like the white and it’s too expensive.
