Providing doesn't mean that they should save us. It means that they put the effort in and prove themselves to be reliable and generous for when you will sacrifice your professional life to have his children (if you don't want children, there are other factors too, but I'll speak for myself). You risk your health, you put yourself in a vulnerable position in almost every aspect of life (professionally too), so if he can't put the effort in in the beginning that means he isn't worth your precious time.

As much as men are not poverty eradication plans for lazy women, women are not private chefs, maids, therapists, child-bearers, teachers, and assistants for emotionally stunted, selfish, gluttonous, slovenly, useless men.

This Pickmeisha is Nigerian and I presume lives in Nigeria.

Nigerian men do NOT do housework or cook etc. It is so rare for a husband in Nigeria to see household chores as something he should share even 30-70% with his wife. Which means you the woman is trying to earn as much money as him, working the same level of hours, then coming home and doing 75-100% of the cooking, cleaning or household management. Then there are patriarchal traditional beliefs where in some of the more common ethnic groups, people believe that the mans wealth and resources belong to his family of origin first BEFORE his children or even you the wife. Can’t tell you how many stories I’ve heard of a man dying, then his brothers, sisters and distant cousins swoop on the house and pack up anything of value, or refuse to hand over things that legally belong to the wife and kids (eg. house, land, cars). The police don’t have time for such cases. The wife will be tied up in court for years trying to get back that Land or house.

We’re not even going to discuss the issue of sexual infidelity, especially in the big cities . The idea that women must forgive such ‘momentary lapses of judgement’

As someone who lived in Nigeria as an adult and has found 95-99% of Nigerian men useless and abusive as partners, I say fuck her. Every single intelligent female friend or female relative I know in her 30s has sworn off Nigerian men for the reasons I lay out above. They are among the most entitled men on the planet and it is incredibly rare to find one who will treat you the way he expects to be treated in marriage. You should be financially independent because men will use their money as a tool to control and abuse you, not because you want to make things easier for the poor Nigerian man.

Nigerian women (especially Lagos women) can be FDS gangstas. My friend who is a lawyer, financially independent and working in Lagos has told me straight up (regarding her standards for marriage) that she would “rather cry in a Ferrari than in a Peugeot”. There is an issue with some Nigerian women being overly materialistic, but I would argue to the death that the patriarchal culture has caused this.

Men know women have a lot of sympathy and are taught to be thoughtful, that's why many women are not greedy or egoistic. That's why broken men go to healthy minded women and expect the women to fix them instead of going to a therapy like a f*cking adult and we get blamed for it "You should've chosen better" but when we do set standards and join FDS we get called femcels, high maintenance and gold-diggers though most women just want a non-abusive non-addict employed man who is generous and knows how to show love that we are attracted to.

Girl stop it. I’ve played pickme like most women, but this has ALWAYS been my dealbreaker. I will not shack up with or marry a man that has me paying bills. You have to be on subterranean bum levels to fail at at least doing that. There are LVM that will pay the bills, loser and all. Sorry, but why should I invite a man into my life who can’t provide?
