Ladies, here are some common mistakes I’ve seen in text screenshots:

  • Carrying the conversation all on your own
  • Asking him all the questions when he doesn’t ask you any
  • Being overly nice or eager. “Don’t worry about it! No problem!”
  • Self-deprecating. Don’t put yourself down.
  • Playing dumb when you’re smarter than that
  • Trying to push him into asking you out
  • Responding positively to fake date offers. For example,
    • “tacos?”
    • “Let’s get drinks”
    • “Let’s grab dinner”
      • None of these are dates. These are mutual activities you are going to be paying your share on. LET’S means LET US as friends. LET’S is not “I want to take you out for dinner”.
  • Laughing at unfunny jokes or racist/sexist humor
  • Not blocking after he sexualizes the conversation with innuendos
  • Entertaining ex talk, positive or negative
  • Listening to him complain about life or himself
  • Trying to impress him or solve his problems. For example,
    • "I will cook for you!”
    • “I’m an expert at ____, let me help you with that!”
  • Flaunting how much you bring to the table. You are attracting opportunists.
  • Don’t lead with sexuality
  • Match his energy. Don’t be over-eager in response to his one word responses.
  • Take note of whether he is actually getting to know you or if he speaks in monologues
