I’ve stopped watching shows with entitled Karen calling the manager personality characters that are so myopically righteous that they cause drama, disaster and drive the ridiculous storyline to all the standard cliches endings.

Refuse to watch rape as a life experience that creates growth and development shit too.

Basically have realized that there are no media depictions of how average men talk, act and react. And that many of my positive ideas about men come from media not real life.

This is why I’ve always found myself finding every male character in credibly sympathetic and every real life woman incredibly sympathetic. While women on screen are often dry, boring, and wholly uninteresting—much like real men.

I've started watching Mrs. America in Hulu and it's so good! So many amazing actresses and the writers and producers are mostly women (based on the credits).

There was a great moment in the second episode where Gloria Steinem is arguing with a male publisher about who to put on the cover of Ms magazine. The publisher wants her to put Wonder woman on the cover because she has great legs. They argue a bit and he says, teasing her "oh so you want to be the only woman with great legs, is that?" All the women in the room, including the first black woman to run for president, just kind of stare at him and silence. A LV comment like that would not have gotten that reaction if the show was written by a man.

I can’t stand reading books written by men, ESPECIALLY when they try to write a female character as the protagonist. They are absolutely incapable of emphasizing with what a woman goes through.

I had to read Batman Year One for a class assignment and one of the questions was about the role of women in it. People in my class are about to get an earful on the history of the mistreatment of women by male comic book writers.

Men will even create narratives about real life women. You only have to look at how Carole Baskin was portrayed by interviewers. The interviewers told everyone else in the documentary that the documentary was about speculation that Carole killed her husband while telling Carole it was about tigers and their preservation.

I try to stay clear of big blockbuster Hollywood type movies. I like more female centric coming of age type stories. Or artsy indie films. Not for some reasons, just because I feel like it’s more intimate, emotional, and relatable. I don’t watch many movies anyways, but I’d love to see a big action movie with an interesting character complex background story for a female character that isn’t explicitly a “feminist” movie

This made me realize something crazy! You know how the bulk of fandoms and “shippers” are oftentimes women and girls? And male fanbases is get annoyed “why you girls gotta ship everyone together?” Well I realize it’s because the most popular shows/movies/whatever are created by men for men with lame ass female characters. The best way for ladies to get connected to their favorite male character in the shows is my shipping him with another female character (or with a male character lol). On the other hand the media believes that women are romance obsessed so shows created for us I primarily about romance and little else, and so, despite finally having relatable female characters, they are pretty unwatchable. So we’re stuck taking our passions out to the world of fanfiction and fanart and thank goodness for that because women really show their artistic talents there.
