Rarely do I believe posts like this. A lot of sex workers lie about how much they make/receive. Not only that, but every sex worker I know that DOES fill the voids in their life with this expensive stuff, is beyond broke. They spend every last penny to purchase these luxury goods and are scrambling at the end of the month to pay their basic bills. I can’t emphasize this enough.

It sounds and appears glamorous at first glance, but many women lose themselves to this lifestyle, more often than not picking up drugs, prostitution and just an empty life. The quality of the body goes too, eventually, with all of those prior mentioned factored in.

It is possible to get all that without stripping or hooking, and from a man too, js but that also has it’s pros and cons.

I just hope they're saving money for when they're too old to sell their bodies anymore and have no marketable skills. Also you could hustle and make plenty of money with a career that makes a positive impact on the world rather than degrading yourself and adding to the objectification of other women.

I know first hand that this woman is fucking miserable. Every stripper or escort no matter how high class and well adjusted they seem has been completely messed up. Vast majority on drugs or big drinkers. Girl I worked with blew her whole night's earnings on meth more than a few times, she had autism and nobody give a shit, other strippers stole from me, lots of physical fights and sabotage, the money makes you feel nothing after a while, every girl had past sexual abuse history or had been raped, it is not some amazing sisterhood draining the patriarchy of cash. It is a HORRIBLE life.

Not only that, but she'll have trouble showing this shit off if she's not following tax law TO THE LETTER and men constantly follow and threaten you.

Most women in stripping long term won't get out without some kind of plastic surgery as men will literally tell you what's not attractive about you, as an escort you're not going to become a premium unless you're 11/10 perfect. The injuries are nasty in stripping too.

They don't understand the concept of long term consequences for short term actions.

What is she gonna do in 10 years when she can't strip and has nothing but tacky 'designer' gear with no resell value and a ton of debt?

SOME smart women strip during school while they study, save invest and make smart choices with their money long term, but the reality is, most don't. Only a very small selection of women will ever work at high end clubs where they have a consistent income and are well treated. The rest get used and abused and end up turning to drugs.

I do think we need to go easy on these women, it's not always easy to see what's really going on behind everything.

For example, my mother has only ever been with my dad. My dad is a very flawed person, but he is ultimately a good man to my mom, and my mother has zero experience of any other relationship. When I complain about men, she literally doesn't believe me. She thinks I must be making things up or reading into it too much. She has no frame of reference for how bad it can be.

I see these women in the same way. They get into it and at first because they are young and fresh, they make good money. And because they are young it seems like A TON of money, and it's hard to imagine that income stream drying up. They only see the good side, they wonder what everyone is complaining about. They see drug addicted strippers turn to prostitution and think "that'll never be me".

It'll be a few years before she realises that she's earning less and less as she gets older, while still spending at the same rate. She starts having to work much harder and put up with shit she wouldn't have before to earn money maybe she starts doing drugs in tiny amounts just to give her more energy to dance longer. It's a slow slide, and many don't see it happening until it's too late.

i believe in supporting yourself financially, pampering yourself and buying and/or investing in worthwhile products. however, i don't believe in "flexing" (or luxury goods equating to anything but a false sense of status) or stripping to be aspirational. sex work will never be aspirational, idc what the choice-sex work minority says over the majority. like y'all said, it's a glimpse into this world. anyone can make salt look like sugar if you don't look too close.

No amount of money is worth my self respect. My mother was a sex worker before she had me. I had no idea and when I was 14 a girl at school was told about it by her mother. I think this may be unpopular here. I understand why ppl are commenting that she’s glamorizing her life but I think it’s irresponsible to paint all sex work and all sex workers w such a broad stroke. I think it’s so complex. Open to hearing contrary opinions though
