I am by no means an expert on the subject, but I think this needs to be talked about.....

The choking? The hair pulling? The slapping?

Since being introduced to FDS, I have to reflect on some partners that I've had in the past that were incredibly aggressive in the bedroom. The last guy I dated incorrectly choke me, to a point where I was coughing harshly and my throat hurt for a week after. He also pulled my hair so hard, that I cried, and one time I instinctively lashed out and punched him because the pain was so great and I wanted it to stop. He also kept giving me hickies, despite me asking him not to. Since reflecting on it, and learning a bit more about BDSM from some friends, I've come to realize that those situations were assault. Plain and simple. It was assault.

It was Non-consensual violence in the bedroom. I never asked to be slapped, or have my hair pulled or to be choked. None of this was discussed prior to having sex. No safe-word was established. There was no respect for my autonomy in those situations. Tbh, I think it's caused some trauma for me. I don't know if I want to have sex for a long time now.

I hope more women become aware that these behaviours of non-consensual BDSM is absolutely not okay, should never be okay and you are right to feel upset or uncomfortable doing those things. Your comfort is important, it is 100% the top priority in such a vulnerable situation. You deserves a partner who respects you and what you want in the bedroom.
