O man I've seen this so often, and especially in the kink community that basically glorifies poly relationships.

I used to see this exact same scenario on poly forums all the time: Husband suggests going poly so he can have sex with multiple women. Wife is hesitant, but goes along with it cause he threatens to leave if she doesn’t. Wife makes a whole bunch of new friends/new sexual partners, while husband gets one or two dates, at most. Husband gets jealous and says he wants to be monogamous again. Wife declines, husband gets pissy and leaves.

It reminds me of that Futurama scene where Fry is complaining that he’s “not a one-woman kind of man”, and Leela says “Don’t worry, Fry. I’m sure you’ll be back down to zero before you know it.”

Same thing happened my ex husband and I. It also happened with him and his ex. And during that relationship, I spent a lot of time on some of the poly subreddits and this is basically the jist of every other post. Men are so dumb, they really have no clue how unattractive they are.

This is where I, in her shoes, would throw him under the bus: actually, hubby wanted an open relationship. I realized I didn’t, so we’re getting divorced.

ETA I found the original post and am cackling. Men always seem to think that there will be women queueing up to ride their d*ces and everyday will be a cornucopia of women who desire them. Instead, as often happens, OOP connected with someone while her soon-to-be ex just had passing interest, if even that.

I was a little scared for her when she wrote that he went off on her for not wanting to close the relationship because of her new boyfriend (now fiancé), but it sounds like things are working out for her.
