100% chance that if she gets the courage to tell him he’s gained weight, he’ll accuse of her of also gaining weight (even if it’s just a pound) and turn the conversation around and make it about he’s not happy about her weight gain.

If she hasn’t gained weight in the course of the relationship, he’ll find something else (whatever part of her body he knows she isn’t happy with or wants to work on) and complain about that, again turning the conversation around and making it about how he’s unhappy.

If he gaslights her enough, she might even agree that she has “let herself go” and apologize to him.

How can he be insecure but not knows he's gaining weight? Of course he knows why he doesn't fit in his clothes anymore, he just won't hold himself accountable, he would rather blame his wife. I'm petty, I would buy him new clothes with condition that he does his own laundry, and if the clothes still 'shrink' he has to pay me back double the amount of money I spent on him. I'll make him sign a black and white contract.

And I hate how women are so careful about men's feelings even though men never return the same favor. Here we have a fucking selfish man who would rather hurt his wife, emotionally and financially than acknowledge he got fat. But his wife still bend over backwards to make sure his feelings aren't hurt. And men still have the audacity to say nobody cares about men's feelings.

We need to start body shaming men tbh. Okay maybe that’s extreme, but it’s ridiculous that men can let themselves go and we’re not supposed to care, meanwhile if a woman puts on weight due to pregnancy or PPD, the man feels like he has grounds to leave.

I HATE that the pickmeishas let men think the whole “dad bod” thing is hot/cute. What’s hot about a man not caring about his health and being sedentary 90% of the time?

I think it's worth the conversation if he genuinely doesn't notice; but he's blaming her instead of taking personal responsibility.

I don't want to defend this guy in any way... and obviously the wife is in no way in the wrong, but he might really believe it. My sister and I used to be the same size until she started gaining weight about 10 years ago. It didn't happen overnight, but she's ask to borrow my clothes years after they stopped fitting her. She's now at least 3 dress sizes bigger than I am, but I don't think she realized at all how much weight she gained until maybe 2-3 years ago. I never did her laundry, but I heard the clothes shrinking thing a lot as well. I think when the weight gain isn't massive, people really don't notice it for quite a while.
