I know I do. The modern left drills it into its adherents' heads that women are oppressed and men are at best not oppressed and at worst the oppressors themselves, and that supporting men is right wing (even if it's supporting them in supposedly core left values, like promoting gender equality, stopping police violence, and and fighting for better labor rights, but never mind). Consciously, I know that this is unjust and wrong, but the constant trickle of messaging is hard to ignore at every cognitive level.

I think men on the left are particularly vulnerable to nagging thoughts of this type. While the right generally attracts people who are unapologetic in their views with no pretension of seeking social justice as a main goal, the left by its very nature attracts deeply conscientious people who are given to introspection about whether they are being fair and just in everything they do. This makes leftist men especially vulnerable to being manipulated into thinking that fighting for their own interests is wrong.

Given this, is it any wonder that men seek refuge on the right, which, for all its faults and bad policy goals, at least lets a large swathe of men be themselves without any expectation of guilt? The left really needs to engage in some of that introspection that it demands of us to realize this and change things, although if the 2016 elections didn't result in that (at least in the US context), I'm afraid I don't know what actually would.
