No worries. I think the majority of men here think that way, because we are used to dealing with women that do. For every 1 woman that has no motives about 500 others do so while this may be a not all women case, the odds are firmly stacked against you. I'm willing to give anyone a chance until they show otherwise.

A huge part of the problem is the trust is gone. Too many women have done everything they can to erode and destroy the trust that we men once had. We can't do it anymore, not won't, can't. Far too many of the men on here have had their world's shattered by divorce, false accusations, etc etc. Not to mention the insane screeching coming out of feminists.

That means when somebody like yourself comes in here and says that you support us we are going to be skeptical. It may very well be you have the best of intentions and truly do want to support us. But we simply can't trust you anymore, we have been burned too many times.

The reason for this is because most feminist women are disingenuous and don’t engage with men honestly. They use repulsive tactics such as shaming sexuality or JAQing off to make this movement less credible. There is one in about every thread and don’t even mention the DM’s some of the posters here get.

At the end of the day it can be tiring trying to sift through what is actually engagement and what is not, especially when you know feminists have motive to hurt men. Im with you that allies should be treated better but that sadly is the way it is at the moment. It’s nice to know at least one woman out there hasn’t completely slided into convenient insanity.

Short answer to your question of why. Experience. Experience has taught us that even women who say they care about us often lie. Experience has taught us that women in general do not care one iota about men's issue unless it somehow benefits them. So when a woman comes in acting supportive and siding with us it safer to assume they are up to something and be wary of them.

I have no problem with a woman or women advocating for men’s rights that is a good thing obviously. However the amount of damage feminism does to mens rights groups is massive and most of those feminists are women ofc so I can somewhat understand the distrust. P.S need to clarify that I’m not demonising women for it nor saying 100% of the feminist movement are women as there are some men in it too.

Honestly, I find it upsetting that if a woman posts here advocating for men's rights that there's a 50/50 chance that men here will think that woman has ulterior motives.. (and to clarify, by upsetting, I mean for you all as men, not having a boohoo moment as a woman lol).

I don't even know how to word this properly because I feel like I'm walking on eggshells even making this post to begin with.. Was debating on just asking a simple "why do some of you automatically assume women in this subreddit have ulterior motives, especially when they blatantly advocate for your rights/feelings/etc." because I find if I say anything more with actual substance, sometimes (not always, but often enough) my words are twisted and assumptions are made.

Want to know why we assume the women who post here have ulterior motives?

Because the vast majority of them do.

It's easy to make a post that sounds supportive and positive, yet they often show a very different side of themselves in the comments.

There have been people who have acted all nice in the initial post and then tried to take the sub down based on comments they themselves baited.

Because despite the fact that all we want is equality, we're demonized and insulted, our needs minimized and our dreams stomped on, all by feminists or members of the opposite sex. Why? Because they feel threatened.

What I can say is that I promise you, as a woman, that we don't all have ulterior motives, a lot of us really care and we want to stand by you and stand up for what's right :)

Words mean jack squat. A large amount of us have been lied to by women.

Idk, like I said, it's a bit of a vent so I apologize if this was worded poorly, it just hurts my heart that you can't even feel "safe" from toxic women in your own subreddit, it's not right. You all deserve to be heard, you deserve to know you're not fighting for your rights alone, you deserve numbers at your side and you deserve to know your feelings about how fucked up things are are valid.

Yes, we agree with all of that, yet that's not how it is.

While we appreciate the words, they do next to nothing to help us.

Best way you could help would be to let your actions do the talking for you.

Call out misandry when you see it. Shame people who are being horrible.

I fight for gender equality as a whole, men and women equally, nothing will change that. I believe men and women should be having a dialogue and not constantly fighting with eachother, there's no reason to be "at war", it's silly and nothing will get better from that.

I don't think any reasonable person will disagree. Unfortunately Reddit is full of unreasonable people, not the least of which are Admins, but that's another story.

If you take anything from my stupid venting, perhaps give the women commenting/posting here an opportunity to prove they aren't just a "pick me" or here for ulterior motives. I've been "bullied" out of participating here in the past for saying a lot less and I just don't understand, though I am willing to hear you out if you can explain :)

You have to understand that if you express ideas that are feminist or even feminist leaning in this sub, you are going to be torn to pieces by the people here.

Feminism is a large part of why this sub exists in the first place.

Some people are just ready for a fight. You have nothing to prove to those people. Just be a good person. However, it really does help you as a person to learn, talk, listen, but please dont ever take the anger you experience here personally. This isn't about you, and this simply isn't your fault. This is about their own baggage and what they've gone through (as men).

Divorce for example, is very traumatizing. Some people decide to hate the opposite sex forever, and theyll rip me to shreds for arguing with them too.

Some of the people who want to rip heads off here arent much different than those people who went to war against nazis and decided to hate germans for the rest of their lives.

Honestly, sorry to hear it got so bad that you felt the need to vent. I know that feeling is what made me get on reddit and landed me here after hearing feminist/anti-male comments from my friend. You're better than me in that regard to even address the people who are causing you to feel that frustration. Unfortunately with any space like this, you'll have people who genuinely just don't want to hear anything a woman has to say or that can sound like you're giving a little fairness to women, but I have noticed that at least they aren't the top comments (though they'll be upvoted still). You'll also have people who have experienced people trying to troll and get them to slip up somehow and don't want to entertain the possibility of that happening again. I hope you get more replies in your favor than against it when there are genuinely good things you're mentioning. Thanks for speaking your mind and sticking with this group.

And 'ya know, ... certainly not unique to men's forums, but certainly also women's forums ... and, heck, many forums ... many, from, e.g. biases from past experience(s) (e.g. trauma), will often have a rather biased to even quite biased perspective, and a lot of suspicion, and even in many cases through no fault of their own - about most anything anyone says - especially if it doesn't fit their world view, experience, or their mental model of how the world (and men and women) work ... even if/when their model of that is way off base.

Alas, used to also occasionally put comments on r/TwoXChromosomes ... if I remember right, I think still two of my top 3 comments are on there ... but alas, got banned from there - so I don't even read it anymore. Probably managed to rub some moderator the wrong way when they were having a bad day (and tough "job" - I'm sure they have to deal with plenty 'o sh*t there). And, not uncommonly, when someone made rather preposterous points there (and not uncommonly I do likewise here), I'd not uncommonly clearly spell out how unfair it was by illustrating ... by merely flipping the genders in the scenario. And, often I'd get praised for that, sometimes roasted, sometimes both on the same comment ... and sort'a similar here too. Ah well. And so it goes.

1) This is not a place for you to vent. You believing it is, is an expression of your female privilege taking advantage of a male safe space for your own benefit.

2) If you don't like it, do something about the mass of female posters here we frequently get that do have ulterior motives. We get them constantly, often in the form of Concern Trolling, where they pretend to be concerned while actually just accusing the community of sexism and misogyny. It's a constant problem for us, so for you to come in here and complain that it affected you negatively is a bit rich.

I get it, you want to help and be supportive but you're talking to a group of abuse victims. You don't get the privilege of saying whatever you want like you normally do in that context.

It's not like i go into a rape survivors group meeting to "vent" about how unfair it is that i don't get the reception i want when i come to that meeting and talk about myself "supporting wymyn", but that's kind of what you're doing.

Sorry if you have had bad experiences, It shouldnt happen. This is a sub for mens rights, provided interest everyone is welcome regardless of gender race or sexuality. Any sexism you have faced is completely unacceptable.

That being said, even if sexism is never excusable we may explain why.

The issue is that many here (like me) have had bad experiences with women coming to this sub claiming to be mras while just trolling. So some here are probably far too triggerhappy due to that.

There are also some here who are genuinely sexist, who ironically are intolerant to women because of the way they have been treated.

Regardless of why it sucks that you dont feel welcome, hope things changes

Probably because a lot of women, when they're doing it, do the "responsibility spread".

Example: Man in situation says "I have X problem, as far as I can tell, this stems from your behaviour, so I would appreciate it if you could do Y to help me with that issue."

Women's reply: "I agree, X is a problem for us all, and I think we all need to take steps to do out part."

Basically the situation is turned from one where someone is articulating a problem, specific to them, where others shoulder some responsibility in that issue (the individual does too, but this is often implied acknowledged) and the focus shifts onto how that issue affects "everyone else too" and the solutions to said problem are focused on the parts "everyone" has to do rather than the parts that individual (who was being asked to do something) has to do personally.

This is very similar to why men don't tend to open up in domestic situations with partners about issues, because it is fairly common for the grievance the man brings up to be turned into an "issue for the both of you" which "both people need to do work on" whilst when the woman articulates issues, often the man is the sole bearer of responsibility.

TLDR: Men don't tend to like sharing with women about grievances much less accept support from them because they tend to co-opt and change the trajectory of the issue away from the original intentions of the man (either knowingly or not). Sometimes men just want someone to go "yes, that's rough, what can I do?" and not explain to them how they also bear some responsibility and they need to ensure "their nose is clean" before anyone else has to make any sort of move.

Hey! I was also trying to figure out how to explain that I stand for men's rights as a woman, but was afraid of backlash. It's upsetting to see what people have done to each other. I've been raped, beaten and verbally abused by men my whole life but have never generalized it as "all men are bad". It was just those men that were bad. Just as we are saying "not all women are bad".

I'm a mother of 3 boys who have a shitty father, so I came here for a different outlook. I can't help raise good men if I only understand them based on my own experiences. I know good men are out there, and I want to say I am proud of you for being true to yourself. It is tough out there for humans in general!

I red some comments and i dont agree. I usually was in mainly women groups (medical etc) and women didnt had more hostility to men. The issue men/boys are facing is:

1) There is a built in pro-female bias in society 2) The bias is particularly strong among women 3) The faux "for IKWALITY" groups grew so strong most people don't dare to challenge them openly

Concrete examples: 1) Lies about domestic violence 2) Lies about false rape accusations being very rare 3) Insane lies about girls being "oppressed" in education, that lead to outright boy bashing

"1 in 4 homeless are women, LET'S DO SOMETHING".

Recent OPUS by UN Women: "11% of killed journalists were women, STOP TARGETING WOMEN JOURNALISTS".

Thinking of it like there are "good women" and "bad women" is... wrong.

Let me think. Maybe beacuse many men hear from women: you can open up then their weaknes was used against them. Men have much smaller groups of friends than women, they vent them more, so in the times of crisis they can count on them, not that they would leave them on the pavement.

When something is too good to be true its usualy not true. Thats why "Dont stick dick in crazy" is very gender specific, beacuse we can count for any help if we would make stupid decision that our genitalia force us too, while women have this privilage to pick bad boy and blame him that he is bad.

Most men don't think like that. Some are probably either because they have trust issues (for whatever reason, trauma, betrayal, etc etc) or are just very insecure, or feel unsafe, they might be idiots, or even 'bad apples' etc.

From my experience, I tend to think women have ulterior motives due to a lot of unfortunate encounters I had with them. It was never my intention to treat women differently than men early on in life but I've basically grown towards doing it naturally due to said encounters. Men and women are very different creatures, especially in the way that we think. I think I'm a little suspicious of women standing up for men's issues because I notice that a lot of them do it either for the grift or to get clout, or both.

That, and I can't get some things I've read and heard about out of my head, such as that women find 80% (or more) of men unattractive. It wouldn't be such a problem for me if it didn't impact the way women thought about a man they deemed to be unattractive and changed their behaviour towards him accordingly. I don't mind that most women find me unattractive, if they do, but I still want to be treated like I'm a human being instead of some creep when I talk to them, is what I'm saying. Sometimes I catch women looking at me when I'm just walking past them in the mall and I automatically assume they view me as ugly. Other times I'm convinced that they think I'm a creep by the way they look at me (I always try to scan how people perceive me by the way they look out of their eyes), and I can get so angry during those moments because I wasn't even thinking about them sexually. It feels as if I'm being unfairly judged simply because of the way I look without valid reason, since I do not want to do anything with most women.

I wish I had never heard and read about such things because I am quite aware of my bias but I can't turn it off. Every time I talk to a woman I instantly get the feeling of wanting to leave since I think she must be thinking things about me.

Furthermore, men are meant to be cannon fodder. We're much more expendable than women since one woman can only carry one (or a few) child(ren) at a time, but only one man is required to fertilize all of their eggs. I believe nature programmed us all to care less about men because we are less important to mankind's survival. We can't carry children and thus need an external reason to make ourselves useful to the tribe, in stark contrast to women who will always be useful by their childrearing capability even if they can't do anything else. Why would women care about us, if men themselves can't, to a large degree?

Do you know how many "men's charities" exists which then turn around and blame the men themselves for their problems? (e.g. mental health charities blaming men for being suicidal because of "Toxic Masculinity" or because they don't behave in the way that women behave)

Do you know how many feminists come here insisting that feminism is just about equality and if only we would work with feminists to "Smash The Patriarchy" together then all of our problems would be solved?

Part of it is everyone has some ulterior motives. This isn't saying just because they are ulterior they are automatically against you, some work in your favour but the majority don't.

Women, whatever their rationale, have developed in recent times more of a reputation for increasing their hiding or distorting of these motives. The "watch what women do, not what they say" saying has become common place for a reason.

I try to take most things of somewhat importance with a grain of salt, sometimes with the whole shaker. The grain of salt is for those that say/show their ulterior motives up front. I'm at least a bit suspicious, whether it is warranted or not, of those that don't.

My apologies if anything that I have said has made you feel uncomfortable in this group. It is always hard to accept the automatic distrust that one’s mere presence can evoke. Welcome to our world; this is what men experience every day. We are vilified by the press, portrayed as a buffoon or criminal by the media, treated as guilty until proven innocent in the courts, accorded second class status by governments, placed last in line during an emergency, are the only ones drafted to die for our country, are forced to endure violence, even as infants, without being able to fight back and this isn’t even all of the major points. Not only have none of the above deficiencies been addressed in decades, but in some areas, men have fallen further and further behind the “equal” that has been widely promoted. If we complain, we are ridiculed further. The level of frustration is through the roof for most of us and suspicion of anything female is now automatic.

We do appreciate that not all women are enemies. However, not being an enemy is not the same as being a friend. Many men have stood up and are still doing so for women’s rights. Even those who may not have done as much are willing to moderate their behavior and loudly condemn the wrongdoing of other men. Why are women willing to do so much less or nothing at all? I have seen countless examples of gross injustices, many of them documented in this group, and am still waiting to hear that storm of protest from women toward their own gender. All of them appear to be sitting on their hands. I have come to the conclusion that most women are silent because they INSIST on being exempt from the very laws they call upon to protect them. Though your gender is often referred to as the fair sex, I mentally prepend “un” to that adjective when I hear the expression.

I am an oldie – yes, from the baby boom generation. I will not go into the details but at the ripe old age of 12 I could sense attitudes and see the way the world was evolving. I vowed then that I would never get married nor have a live-in relationship. That was decades before MGTOW was a thing (and no, I am not a member). I have never broken that promise nor had cause to regret it. Indeed, the unfolding world I see now has made me wish that I could somehow have doubled down on it. In better than a half century, I have only seen an increase in inequality. The world of my youth wasn’t equal but female privileges (which are really just rights not shared equally) may have provided a balancing factor to make it somewhat fair. Now it isn’t even remotely equal or fair.

Again, my apologies but you did ask why there is so much hesitation and suspicion on our part. If you are sincere, I hope that everyone in this group not only hears your words, but listens carefully too. Understand though, we are not looking for sympathy, we want the equality that has been demanded of us.

You have to understand that some women do have ulterior motives. You may not, but all it takes is for a man to get burned once or twice to make him hostile and suspicious
