It depends on perspective and definition.

Defining patriarchy as male dominance through population than... sport, work, military would be patriarchal.

Defining it as male dominance through control, than some nations would be... but no egalitarian, democratic nation would.

Keep in mind that when this word is used it's referring to feminist Patriarchy Theory, not the dictionary definition of the word 'patriarchy'.

Patriarchy Theory: That all men oppress women for men's benefit.

It's Marxism lite and the idea is to divide the sexes, it's worked pretty well.

Patriarchy

noun

a system of society or government in which the father or eldest male is head of the family and descent is reckoned through the male line.

Radfems love to play with the meaning of words, muddling the definition and using the confusion to better propagate their ideology.

Most countries in the world were patriarchies under the actual definition for most of history. This reality helps gender "studies" to propagate a conspiracy theory it calls "the Patriarchy" that postulates male power and female oppression. The conspiracy theory being named after an accepted and proved concept helps cement its reality in the mind of the gullible.

This conspiracy theory, like all conspiracy theories, does not have a clear or stable definition. It will be redesigned on the spot to fit whatever point is attempted to be made. This way the "theory" can be proved again and again, never acknowledging the thing being proved is not actually the same thing.

Add this to flawed methodologies, logical fallacies and emotionally manipulative discourse and there you have it: "the Patriarcjy" TM is entering public consciousness as something factual. It is not.

The foundational principles of all flavours of feminism (class warfare between men and women with men winning, shorthanded as "Patriarchy") are inherrently anti-male when you examine what needs to be true for it to accurately describe reality. Feminists can claim that it's "just about equality", but it's equality based on bigotted assumptions, presuming psychopathy on the part of men as a class.

Mens rights advocacy, and Egalitarian values in general, are innately anti-feminist.

Here in the UK, I would say we still have a system based on Class. Yes our society is heavily dominated by men - but maybe they are more willing (and able) to deal with the pressure at the top? Plenty of women have ruled these lands, so I dismiss the Patriarchy theory - I would replace Patriarchy with Dynasty.

Feminism was started by rich white women - solely for the benefit of rich white women. If it is pushed by the media and Government, you know it solely benefits the rich!

The concept of it exists and feminism attach the concept to a natural world.

The concept of the "patriarchy" is what? That men dominate certain positions of power.

So? How about WHY that's the case. Hint, it's not sexism and misogyny like they want you to believe.

It comes down to personal choices.

Here's a smaller example: Nurses.

Most nurses are women. Matriarchy I say! No. More women chose to be nurses than men. That's it.

I think by patriarchy you mean systematic sexism.

Laws which were once made by agreement of both men and women are maybe now outdated.

I don't see why not there could be some rules (legal and cultural) which may require some changed because now timed have changed and people have more freedom now.

And some people may oppose change because people have difference of opinion on ethics etc.

But that doesn't mean it's a male dominated society.

But it makes me wonder whether i could apply the same logic to systemic racism and say it doesn't exist ! 🤔

I moved all my living room furniture out of the way, the other day. I took 2 massive handfuls of coins, I could barely keep hold of them all and I threw them in the air.

They rained down and bounced and clattered all around me. When the last coin had rolled to a stop, I looked at what side was face up all around the room.

And do you know what? They were ALL heads. Every last one. It was incredible!

Well... I had to discount some for various reasons and I couldn't see the ones that rolled under the furniture but every valid coin cam up heads

The way I see it, there's 2 possible explanations for this. A. My research methodology is total crap. I failed to take a fair view of reality and should, in no way, draw any conclusions from my dangerously biased observations

Or B. There is a global conspiracy at play, working in the shadows to manipulate these outcomes

Hopefully my research will be judged by the tough standards to which it will be held.

i’m in canada. i would say for women of colour, it certainly does. considering the amount of missing and murdered indigenous women there are and the complete lack of media coverage on it.

for white women.. ehh, i don’t know. women face misogyny for sure, but not so much in a legal sense, just in a societal. and i would say the issue is gender discrimination in general, since men experience it too for different issues (and i’m not a fan of the claim that men’s issues are a result of patriarchy).

i think imo for patriarchy to exist women would have to be discriminated against significantly more than men are, and i don’t think that gap is significant enough where i live to warrant calling it a patriarchy.

i do wonder why women are rarely elected, though. this is where i think patriarchy exists in a societal sense (men are less likely to vote for a woman because of her gender) but not in a legal sense (women have equal opportunity to run).

Natural feminine hypergamy is the ordering principle of every human society. In fact, I think it has been the ordering principle of every sexual animal since the dawn of sexual reproduction.

Overpower is the key concept men have to understand; the ability to direct the choices of others is just as important.

"How do you intend on providing for my economic needs and my endless wants? " -99% of all women can ask this, without laughing at our face.

What is amazing is that 99% of men try to answer this question in a very predictable enthusiastic fashion.

The way I have been describing the myth of patriarchy is that patriarchy has to be a system built around the interest of men to have any validity; Clearly, society is built around the interest of women... thinking men are in control is laughable only because being strong and doing all of the hard work to provide is what a mule does, women are clearly the more intelligent gender because you cannot be the strongest gender and the smartest well finding yourself predictably in the same situation slaving away to make her happy. Smfh

And it's taken 150 years for men to start to question feminist Notions and yet in only 6 years has any appreciable amount of men even thought to question all of them... something women pass on effortlessly. Maybe this has every bit to do with the male ego: thinking that he's strong, in charge and smarter... these assumptions have to be questioned obviously!!!

Patriarchy isn't an orginasation. It's not a concept or a conspiracy. It's women and sissys taking two steps back from what's neccessary, while a lot of men stay where they are and just do what's to be done. Those that you see in the frontrow are those accused of patriarchy.
