I have had full custody of my daughter, who turned out to have autism since she was 3. She is now 20, and I am still paying accrued child support from when mom claimed she needed babysitting.

Granted, It was hard for a while when she was younger. I was very busy getting our family in order. Everything between doctors appointments and school meetings kept me pretty busy. I really shouldn't have ignored my accrued child support. But so far, I've had tax returns taken, my bank account seized, and almost arrested when I tried to bring them paperwork proving I had custody.

I think men could and should be able to say "Here, before we have sex, sign this notarized document confirming that if you get get pregnant you will abort it. If you choose not to abort, I am absolved from any and all financial, emotional or physical support of the result of that decision. "

Of course, even that is no guarantee of anything, but hopefully it would at least help, especially if it became common enough be noticed by the legal system.

I really do understand the discrimination against fathers in so many areas of raising children. It’s unjust.

But comparing child support to being forced to carry and birth a child is bizarre and inappropriate. I don’t even know if I could support some kind of legal avenue for men to contest if the future mother wants to abort. I want men to be in equal standing as women when it comes to custody and child support. That’s not even close to the same as robbing an individual of their personal sovereignty and bodily autonomy under threat of imprisonment.

First of all that's not murder. Supporting abortion right is a great thing for men and women. I support men's right, and support the fact that men should not pay for child support if the women wanted to keep the baby, given the possibility to have an abortion. Supporting abortion for women, is also fighting for men's rights too. That how I see it.

Edit: clarifying the last part. If we support the fact that women have the right to choose, it is easier to support that men also have the right to choose.

This is conflation of two entirely separate issues for the purpose of riling you up.

Abortion is, from the pro-choice perspective, the ability of a woman to decide if her body gets hijacked for 9 months and entirely dedicated the process of pregnancy. It's an asymettric risk for women, as men don't have to go through pregnancy. Right now, the law is that there is no baby during an abortion, as the viability of the fetus isn't such that it can survive.

Child support reform is a fine topic of discussion, but you fucktards have gone from "let's discuss reasonable issues effecting men" to "fuck women! if I can't have protections under the law, why should they?"

There's so many incorrect things about this statement that I fear this sub is turning alt right. First off, the right to abortion is not murder. It's a person making a medical decision about their body. I get that you may be half Incel and half butt hurt the one girl that said yes left you. So, choosing what you do with your body is one thing, that's it. Now back to comparing apples and oranges. If a self sustaining child is born, both of us creators are responsible bc the court looks at the best interest of the child and more money to raise to them makes their life better.
