There has to be proof beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law that (insert name here) has committed the crime of rape, in order for (same person's name) to be convicted, sentenced, and imprisoned for the crime of rape. Most people start calling alleged rapists rapists when the squad car shows up. Many people, it seems, don't stop even after a jury acquittal or a hung jury. A person can always seem more guilty, but no one gets more innocent than innocent.

You could say this is true of any crime but the reply’s wording is not legally accurate. No one is ever proved “innocent” or “not a rapist” or “not a murderer” the trial just determines whether or not they are “guilty” and convicted of the crime(s) that’s the subject of the trial.

You could murder dozens and get away with it, then murder one and get “not guilty” due to winning the trial. Is the person still a murderer? Yes. Does that really mean anything as far as legal consequences? No

You know... when Bill Cosby was convicted, in a court of law, I stopped suggesting that it might not be true, it's all hearsay, we don't know, etc. But we have a justice system and for better or worse it did what it does, and even though it has serious issues and isn't always right, it's considerably better than the court of ~~mass hys~~ public opinion. (And it isn't really over until the appeals court sings; but for now, it's what it is.)

If people want to believe in unicorns and demons regardless of any evidence, that's on them.

Just because a rapist was proved to not be a rapist doesn't make them not a rapist. Just because someone was jailed for rape doesn't make them rapists either. And finally, someone can feel raped while no rape happened. Justice can fail, rape is difficult to prove/disprove, let's not just fall into one extrema to avoid the other one.

Maybe the issue lies on the choice of word "rapist" and "proven". Just because there's no evidence he did rape her doesn't mean he didn't, but due to presumption of innocence (thanksfuly) he's not condemned for rape.

He wasn't proved "not" to be a rapist, though. The DA just basically said he's not very confident they'll win so they aren't going to even try. Ronaldo may be innocent here but dropping charges so early on is by no means an exoneration.
