So... We have 2 males and 7 females with insults levied at men who don't want to be hit. Wow looks like most people are living in about 1955 with their attitudes about women and relationships. Women in the U.S. and Europe are anything but traditional now and now over half of women are HUGE, fat and massive from eating like pigs and extremely BUTCH and mannish like MEN and extremely confrontational, spiteful and sociopathic. Today Western women ARE men essentially, but like criminal men. These people need to start taking a look around them.

Pretty nasty comments. But it all goes to show how incapable we are of viewing men as a group of potential victims. To be fair, I think after finding out the egregious details of individual instances, their tone would probably change - but the initial prejudice will always be something along the lines of "he deserved it".

As most of us here, I had a hard time accepting gender parity in DV perpetration for a long time. But now I find it striking (!) that women do not make up the majority of perpetrators. For a very simple reason: women have never learned that it is not right to hit men; in fact, arguably the opposite is true. Men, on the other hand, have learned that to protect the weaker is the essence of being a man. If you hit a woman, you have reneged on your social mandate and you will lose your social worth. That would take much, much more pushing than it would take for a woman to slap her husband.
