I never put the seat down nor will I. but I once heard someome try to argue this with math, which ends up still being female sided.

Lets say there are just as many people taking shits as peeing. So 1 shit equals 1 piss. Females shit and piss sitting. So 1+1=2 for sitting. Men shit sitting and hopefully pee standing. So that is 1 for sitting and 1 for standing. So we have 3/4 for sitting. Therefore we should put the seat down because 3/4 for sitting is the majority.

First problem: I piss like 8 times a day, stay hydrated people, so no, its more like 8/9 times to the bathroom for me in a day standing instead of sitting. Therefore I ain't putting it down. Second, I'm not bending over if I dont have to, that is wasted energy.

My boss has both a son and a daughter. He made it a rule in his house that both the seat and lid must be down after someone uses it, so that regardless of gender, you have to lift something before use.

Toilets have lids for a reason, and that reason is to stop the spread of bacteria when you flush. The debate is stupid because if you're going as far as to be concerned about where the seat is you may as well drop the lid as well. It has a pleasant side effect of making men and women equal.

I put the seat and the lid down, always. Does everyone forget about the lid? Bathrooms look much nicer with the lid down.

My usual response to this request is along the lines of:

"Women need mens help to go to the toilet? Are you serious? Well, so long as you're prepared to be mocked for it forever, that's fine by me. God knows what you'll do if stuck somewhere without a man to help you figure out how to lift a toilet seat lid, I suppose you'll just have to piss yourself. No no, don't pretend to toilet train the children, we both know that's just wishful thinking, they'll need a man to teach them how to actually do it."

Just continually make fun of them for what they asked you to do until they realize how fucking humiliating a request it is and they'll never ask again. Ask them if they need you to check the bathrooms in public places to see if the toilet seats are down, really hammer it in how much of an idiot it makes them look to make this request. Alternatively agree to do it and make a huge fucking mess of it, spray shaving cream everywhere, fill up the bathtub, tear off the shower curtain and stuff it under the door, you name it. When she finds out just admit that she's right and lifting the toilet seat sure is a complicated endeavor, you had no idea how badly it could mess up.

It can't be good for womens image to be continually reinforcing the idea that they're too incompetent to use the toilet, and it can't be good for mens perception of themselves that so many of them consider this a reasonable request to be made of them when the other person is entirely capable of doing it themselves. "It's my job to do things for women they can easily do for themselves, it's where my sense of worth comes from baka!"

We should all just sit down to pee. That would make life much easier and much less pee on the seat for anyone to clean up. Also, it's more comfortable.

When I use a public unisex bathroom, I just return the seat to the condition it was in before I used it.

(unless its simply a portable outside toilet, then I just simply shut the lid because that shit stank.)

When I use my own in my apartment I use discretion according to who I have over. If I have guests that are mostly men I will put the toilet seat up after I have finished. If I have mostly girls over then the opposite.

I probably overthink it, but I'm an overly courteous person.

Honestly, I'm fine with a social standard that everyone agrees to stick to whether it be up or down. But I can't fathom why women wouldn't insist seats be put up after use by everyone, as it makes it far less likely that some idiot covers the seat in piss before they have to sit down on it.

Nah, leave it down. Just might want to be aware I'm not gonna lift it regardless of what I'm gonna do to the toilet.

(As a side note, when I go to sit I clean it first with soapy papertowel (or TP if nothing else is available)).
