If you define "safe spaces" as a space where the opposite gender isn't welcomed, then you are literally just being a hateful bigot, regardless of your gender. Men and women do not need "safe spaces", free of the opposite gender, any more than white people need "safe spaces", free of black people.

If you want to build an echo chamber, full of like-minded people, you are certainly free to do so and call that a "safe-space" but gender shouldn't be the determinant factor in that regard.
