I reject the notion about them not realizing they're being jerks, the vast majority of the time anyway. Just to pick two examples often brought up in this sub. 1. Young girls who hit young boys. You know, the kind of girls who are always punching boys in the shoulder or kicking their shins. I think they realize full well they are being jerks to boys. 2. Women who grab men inappropriately, AKA sexual assault. Like grabbing a guy's butt at a bar for example. Again, they know full well they are rubbing our faces in the fact that they can get away with this simply because they are female. (could go on, of course - women who never pay their way on dates, women who blow their stack if their partner asks them to get something, but don't hesitate to make the same request themselves of him, and so on.)

What I can tell you is, don't shame him for his insecurities, issues or vents just because he is male, since bias is often subconscious, you need to train this "reflex", men really have a hard time opening up, and they're more aware of doing so with women due to many of them reacting badly to it but wouldn't with a female friend/or partner.

This one is subtle, but i have found many women dont understand the toe stepping boundary issue. If a man is doing a task, and you offer to help, and he says no, but you help anyway. you are not helping, you are getting in the way. Now of course this is situational, but it is part of male communication and social rules.

I have been working with someone moving something heavy (removing an old bathtub) and i had it balanced precariously on a ledge, he saw this, thought i was in trouble and quickly asked if i need help as he ran up. I shouted no i got it, and he stopped. I then finished tipping it over the edge and let it fall like i planned, If he had grabbed hold and not listened, he could have gotten his hand crushed or even been pulled over and fallen with the tub and been hurt or killed. I was in charge for that moment and i gave an order. After that we were immediately equals again, but i gave an order and he followed because of the tone. he wasnt angry that i yelled at him, nor was it even an issue afterward.

But i have had a similar thing happen with my wife, i was moving a fridge and it started to fall, and she rushed to help me catch it, but it was too heavy for her and i knew it, so as she came running up saying "let me help, let me help" i kept saying no, no, no, NO, NO and i finally had to yell "fucking stop". and i let the fridge fall against the wall. And she was upset becasue i screamed at her, but if she had listened to my first no it would have been fine. I wasnt angry, i was giving important instructions that were not optional at that moment. Learn to listen when help is refused, even if the person fails, it is on them, they need to be allowed to have their wishes respected and be given space to work.

I think a lot of men are going to post a bunch of very specific anecdotes or behaviors or whatever.

And if you’re asking this question with good intentions, the answer is very simple:

Treat him with respect.

EVERY SINGLE example on this thread is about: 1. Disrespect 2. Gaslighting when the man protests that he isn’t being respected

You can make mistakes. You don’t need to walk on eggshells or think about a millions things you shouldn’t do. If you upset a man, think, “Do I not respect him? Am I disrespecting him?” If you are apologize. Misunderstandings are normal and no guy would ever hold something against you for a mistake.

This is not to say women don’t deserve the same respect. They also deserve equal respect. And if he disrespects you, be firm and explain it logically (and you of course deserve an apology)

But don’t get lost in the sauce with all these comments. Men just want respect.

I really hate people in general who look at you with a disgusted or disturbed facial expression. But I noticed especially women do this. I'm a really normal and successful guy but sometimes I'm just not in a good mood or am a little bit awkward because of the stress levels. Women really smell awkwardness or lack of confidence from miles and they will usually have a very disgusted face. It's just so insulting and arrogant. And I have no fucking clue why, but not presenting yourself with confidence somehow makes women disrespect you, as if they had the right to talk only to people with confidence. It's a very weird thing that I just can't my head around. It's almost like when you're being awkward women feel insulted. As if you owed them some princess treatment or attention. This is often very common with high-energy women who have to be stimulated all the time. They simply won't respect you for your low-level energies and even plain insult you.
The tl;dr is that I really cannot stand women who openly express boredom, lack of interest or disgust for no obvious reason. Treat people with respect and don't let them know you dislike them. Only if they disrespect you or treat you badly.

But even in small things. Like when guys wanna spend time with the boys. And gets like hound on for that. But have to always respect when girls wanna spend time with friends or family.

Treatment like men's time is less valuable is a very common thing. And honestly, it often makes me lose respect for people. Because I don't feel respected.

Cause making rules for one. But at the same time bending it for yourself. And that really pisses me off and is the main reason when girls do that I don't hang out or be friends with them anymore.

Stop pushing people to fit in your boxes like you have to be like this or like that. People are not the same don't try and force people to all be the same.

People deal with things in different ways. Not everyone is the same.

It's a thing I often have arguments with with my girlfriend. About oversharing things that happen in the relationship.

Or trying to give my number out to people without asking me first.

Or making promises in name of me before even talking to me about it beforehand.

I really hate my life or everything i do basically being a Facebook posting that is easy to follow for everyone.

And my girl loves to take pictures of food and places we go to. But if she posts them. I dont want to be on it and i dont want to be mentioned in them.

For me those are for your own picture book for yourself not for the world to see. Your moments and memories are yours not for the world to enjoy. And have like a battle about who has the best life for likes. In some Facebook groups.

So all things with the house are made of glass things. And oversharing.

Its a common thing do. That people wanna act like they are their own supermodels.

I find it annoying and insulting. Also when every moment they live life is truly a camera instead of being in the moment themselves.

Even had people the whole time being in a fancy restaurant just none stop with there phone in their hands. Like it was more a photo shoot than a dinner celebrating something.

For me it devalues the whole experience and makes me less likely to do the same effort ever again. It's very little to ask to just be present in the moment

I'm really annoyed by women who think they have to teach me or are "farther than me". Just because I'm not an arrogant person and often put myself below others to make them feel better or play stupid doesn't mean I really am. If you were genuinely sensitive you would see through this. I like my friends and colleagues to feel smart and powerful. If they are good people they will reciprocate that. And I notice and they become some of my better friends. I know a lot of people who do. Treating people like that is a way for me to identify those who reciprocate. But a lot of women see weakness in that because they aren't smart enough or simply not willing to understand I'm just pretending and how this is my way of communicating. So paradoxically women think men aren't sensitive enough but will actively favor insensitive men over sensitive.

Their inability to see that what they are doing is wrong. If all women in a relationship would stop what they are doing and ask themselves how they would feel if their s.o. did xyz and if they wouldnt like it maybe they shouldnt do it either...

If you dont want you man to have a friend that is a girl maybe dont get your panties in a bunch when your boyfriend dosent want you having guy friends either.

If you dont want your man to use slurs and foul language towards you then maybe you shouldnt do it either.

And the worst example by far if you dont like someone moving your toothbrush out of the way to the point you.cant find it anymore then maybe you should also keep your hands off his toothbrush...

That last one might sound silly but i have yet to have a girlfriend that didnt do this and it is now my biggest pet peeve. Like i dont care that your make up and perfume are all over the place so leave my damn toothbrush and deodorant where i left them.

In essence dont do things that you wouldnt want your significant other to do either.
