TBP isn't laughing at the men she's swiping 'no' on, TBP is laughing at the guy who posted about it wringing his pearls about how shallows she's supposedly being after opening the post with a flippant judgement about her looks. "She was just a 6! Then she started swiping!" TBP is also laughing about how upset some men seem to get when women chose who they want to fuck. And also the ridiculousness of expecting people to read profiles on Tinder of all dating sites, which is explicitly about knee-jerk nexting.

Here is a pubmed paper that backs up the okcupid 80/20 claim.

So if anyone says the okcupid thing isn't reality, or is flawed, they are just wrong.

The combined data was about half of single people in the United States. So anyone who says the data isn't reflective of regular people, they really need to realize the statistics aren't wrong. Their preconceived notions are.

Breaking news, in real life you can't swipe left people who you pass by if you don't find them super attractive and sexy af. Instead, you shall speak to the average looking person and learn more about them.

Also...... Women aren't like guys in that they'll try to fuck the first thing they see that is remotely attractive.

That's what tinder is for. It's for quick sex. So if it's just that, of course your physical attractiveness is going to weigh more than anything else. But just like OkCupid, I want to know for Tinder how many of these 'matches' actually make it to meeting.

Given that more men want casual sex with strangers than women, I assume that if this ratio was reversed and men were outnumbered, then a 6 would be just as likely to pick a 6 as a 10, and if not he'd be saying he's completely unattracted to the 6?

I will just play devil's advocate for a bit but I am an older guy and a good 90% of women are just not worth my time in terms of looks or intelligence or general conviviality.

I might have to experiment for this last week that I am still in North America before I return to China (where Tinder is blocked). Given that most of the people on there are half my age I don't expect results but it might be one of the more useful "field reports" to get posted.

The issues with the OkCupid stats (not a study by any stretch) would also exist with any Tinder stats. That is limited sample selection and disingenuous responses. Also, Tinder has more men than women users. So there's that.

That said, that isn't a stat from Tinder. That's some dude telling a story on the internet about a single woman. It doesn't mean anything.

Online dating is extremely brutal for this reason. I can get as many 6's and a few 7's but I'll never get an 8+ from tinder.

Fortunetly looks are only one aspect. Kino is massive, approaching as well, catching a girl at the right time etc

Basically your chances of fucking any particular girl is like 2% so go talk to 50 girls.

First, OkCupid found that women are more likely to give men an opportunity while most men tend to flock around the most attractive women.

Second, in real life people don't get to swipe people so when it comes to attraction a lot of factors are being taken into consideration, not just looks.

I imagine men and women use tinder for different reasons. Men are probably more likely to be there for sex, so they only care about looks and may not care that much, so they'll swipe right with abandon. Women are probably more likely to be there for a relationship, so they're going to be a bit choosier for that reason alone. Tinder is definitely not just a sex app anymore.

Now, how much this factors into the results of the study, I have no idea. But I don't think your assumptions about what this means are that founded.

I think a lot more men are unattractive when I only have a picture to judge from.

Real life, you're getting so much more information about someone, even when you see them for a few seconds. They could smell great, have a nice posture, good voice, great laugh or even better laugh at the same shit, twinkle in their eye, be really fast thinkers when you talk to them etc.

Also, it's weird how on a dating site people seem to blend in one and the same guy, most have the same few favorite movies and books. Some people you think are great are going to be worse real life because being a good writer doesn't have to mean you're a great talker.

So looks (unless the pictures are old or shopped) are the thing that's going to set someone apart the most. Also the risks are really small, the worst thing that can happen when you aim for the prettier people is getting no replies or a mean one, but it's not like others are going to know, so people just try.

I agree - this is terrible!

According to trp, women are only supposed to care about men's looks at a ratio of 20%.

That 6.5 woman must have devised some technical way of discerning how much money, frame and status a man has just by scanning his photo for a split second.

Damned women! Always finding their way straight to man's money and status!
