The population would actually go extinct in both of those conditions. There isn't enough genetic diversity in the second scenario to meet a minimum viable population.

Also, it's why for most modern feminists, it's shifted to being about equity rather than equality. There are always considerations based on biology or a person's circumstance that need to be taken into account. There's no reason for doctors to test for pregnancy in anyone biologically incapable of it, for instance. Equality would be to do so for everyone, whereas equity would be smart and realize this is only something that people capable of becoming pregnant need

I dont think the main goal should be to strive for "equality berween genders." I mean, of course there is the basics that every person should be treated as equal under the laws and such. But beyond that I dont think we should strive for equality. But what we should do is to strive for equal opportubities. Meaning we should have well expanded childcare system so that both women and men can work if they want to. We should have parental leave so that both men and women can be home with babies if they want to. I think just making everone able to have their own opportunities to create their own balance. Then I think itll be pretty equal, but not perfectly equal.

Men are biologically privelleged.

Women have a very bad dealbiologically.

So as far as I'm concerned men should be thankful they are men due to this biological privellege. They simply don't have to deal with the things women have to deal with.

Applying value in that way is counter-productive.

When women shoulder the physical investment of reproduction, there's no equivalent for men. But it doesn't stop there. The investment men offer is partnership and parenthood. Bc reproductive success for humans isn't just giving birth. It's investing yrs into raising that baby, ensuring that they have the tools to be a good partner and parent in turn.

Anyway... equity is always the goal. There's no foreseeable future in which the playing field is even. Our efforts are most impactful in finding where the dips are and doing what we can to bring everyone up to baseline.

Many biological differences mean the idea of a non-gendered society is impossible. There will always be gendered roles and norms and expectations: the question is how strong and what will they be?

But not being identical does not necessarily mean not being equal. Yes, 'separate but equal' or 'different but equal' has a spotty track record of humans being able to pull them off. However, what other choice do we have?
