Lots of bloops here will hand-wave away field reports as inauthentic. I think they often come across as spergy and ridiculous too. But I often come across female field reports that are more telling than their male counterparts.

Case in point:

I have been with "Rick" for 5 years as a couple. We were "best friends with benefits" for a year before that. Even then our relationship was a very "comfortable normal" with no surprises whatsoever

But last night I was out with some friends and had one of those "rom-com" like encounters where I spilled my drink all over a guy who was sitting at the table next to us. He made a horribly nasty, yet hilarious joke at my expense and I went through a spate of every emotion in about 10 seconds; from hating him for embarrassing me to being enamored with his blue eyes for being so witty and charming to turn it around so quickly. We ended up turning our stools to face each other and chatted for the entire night. It seemed like it was only the two of us in the entire brew-pub. It went fast and it went slow. We had nothing in common which gave us a tremendous amount of things to talk about out. At the end of the night he asked if he at least have my Instagram account, if not my number so he could stay in touch. It was at that moment that I finally remembered I was engaged and I politely declined. Chances are, I will never see him again.

But I had a totally sleepless night last night because I'm utterly confused. For the first time I'm having doubts about being with Rick.

Here you see a successful neg and charm from a guy that makes her legs quiver and forget she was ever engaged.

I love how she asks if she should give herself credit for not cheating on her fiancé. One commenter likened it to giving yourself credit for not going to jail that night or not being racist.

Lots of comment replies like this:

Seriously, I've dated around so much, I kinda wish I'd stayed w/ the boring responsible guy I dated a few years ago... I tell my friends in long term relationships w/ their first SO sometimes that they don't even know how lucky they are to have found that right away. Don't ever let go.

More interesting comments about settling for the boring responsible guy in that thread. It’s an interesting read.

Anyway, a nice field report straight from the horse’s mouth.

What would your advice to her be?

Q4BP: is this FR fake? Would you believe the story if the man wrote it instead?

Q4RP: What did the guy do right? What’s your personal analysis?
