And what baffles is people will justify it by saying bullshit like “it makes a great foundation for the family!” This comes from such a naive belief that two parent married households automatically means a good family instead of looking at the couple does in the family to make it good. Being an attentive loving parent and providing a safe environment makes a great foundation for the family. Being a good spouse and being a good parent are not the same thing.

And then there’s the common complaint from men here that single moms prioritize their kids over their lover, as if that would change if she was with her baby daddy.

At that point, why bother being a (step)parent when you’re that selfish? It would be easier to remain child free, so you’d have no competition for attention.

And then there’s people who hate people with multiple baby mamas and baby daddies. Other than the welfare queens, this “relationship over kids” mindset is why. They dont see kids as family to love unconditionally, they see kids as a symbol of their relationship, so when the relationship ends, caring about the child also ends. They go off to make a new family with a new partner, making the previous kids an afterthought.

Hence, people who believe romance is important than kids are terrible people.
