Speaking as a prole or I think I am not sure I used to think Dad jeans were a major issue in dating. Then I was at the gym yesterday and they did a pull back shot of Trump surrounded by Republican at Camp David, I think it was Camp David, nobody was golfing. Anyway Mitch McConnell had the worst Dad jeans. I just thought motherfucker you have money, get a tailor. This led me to rethink my assumptions about Dad jeans and working class Bros.

The one dating/marriage problem that everyone has that I think is big is

-Not embracing the monotony of the relationship

When you're constantly seeking fun and enjoyment and not embracing certain down periods in a relationship it shows that you're infatuated with the person and not willing to properly love on them and maintain the love that you have.

Infatuation doesn't last. It's likes a drug. Many relationships fail because the man or the woman seek constant reckless enjoyment. Which I think says a lot about the mental state of people.

If you're in a relationship embrace the normal.

We live in an instant gratification society and nobody wants to put in the time, effort and work needed to make a relationship/marriage last.

My social cycle is mainly middle class and upper middle class people. What I encounter quite frequently among the younger women are very high expectations for a partner (literal lists of criteria with everything from education and income to hobbies and looks), putting off daring/marriage/children until the “next step“ (first it's undergrad, then getting a good job or phd, followed by their ultimate goal of x position, location or promotion) and little willingness to compromize on anything.

What I have not encountered in my own social cycle or even know of anyone affected by it are single moms, baby daddies, welfare queens or gold diggers (don't associate with trashy people but not rich enough for the more ambitious gold diggers).

Issues that affect everyone are cheating, incompatibility, people having trouble finding the partner they want, mental health and looks.

I think insecure attachment is a UMC dating problem; it may be a universal dating problem across all classes. Insecure attachment basically means having the expectation that stable relationships don't work, and acting on that expectation -- either by avoiding intimacy or by clinging. (Men are usually the ones to avoid intimacy, women are usually the ones who cling. But men who cling are really in trouble.)

Lack of concern, almost entirely by women.

Contempt for men.

Relationship avoidance, almost entirely by men.

Families fighting each other.

Overspending as a way of escapism.

Drinking/drug use.

Self harm.

It is weird, this whole "class" thing. My father dragged himself out of the gutter and became a Chartered Accountant. I did the same and became a lawyer. Still, I married a farm girl.

I have dated a few girls in the upper reaches but despite being smarter and better educated than them we never clicked.

I suppose the UMC/UC have particular pressures on them. They have expectations from their family.

Maybe LWC have drug or alcohol issues.

Across all classes: Dearth/shortage of attractive men. Inability of men to get the sex they want in frequency, quality and variety.

UMC/UC: marriages of convenience, higher risk of on the downlow affairs.

Working classes/underclass: economic pressures severely discouraging LTRs and marriage. Just about every other guy is underemployed/paying support to a baby mama; just about every other woman is a single mom with a baby daddy.

Ironically, gold diggers and cheating probably become problems again once you reach higher classes than mine.
