For many men and women, the fantasy is to catch lightning in a bottle. Sexual attractiveness, availability and adventurousness are widely appealing, and a person with those traits will have an easier time attracting competition and playing the field if they decide to.

For comparison, who would most women think is the greater cheating risk and more exciting in bed: a meek average-looking guy or a socially dominant, flirty, adventurous handsome guy?

I have no idea why, but in my experience this is very true. Men claim to hate promiscuous women but in reality they often want them for both short-term and long-term relationships.

I would guess at least part of it is unrestricted women like sex. Men like sex. It adds up pretty nicely. Meanwhile an unrestricted man might knock up another woman and now his resources aren't 100% directed at her kids.

A woman's odds of getting pregnant by another man are pretty low. And back in 1850, the average American woman had 7 kids; if 1 wasn't her partner's, did it really matter all that much? He still got 6 kids out of the deal.

From looking at the photo, sexually 'unrestricted photo' look hotter. They're probably not measuring what they think they're measuring.

I question that women prefer restricted men even though unrestricted men's faces are associated with more masculinity. As for why men prefer unrestricted it's probably because the increase in sexual avalibility offsets the risk, though that can change if the man knows the woman sleeps around.

I've seen this and other similar research before. Either unrestricted sociosexuality is correlated with features that we consider attractive, or many men do indeed sunconsciously prefer women with a tendency towards promiscuity. This would explain why so many of them complain about sluts when avoiding them should be easy.

Men are most attracted to the most attractive women. The most attractive women have the greatest opportunity of attracting other men. Women can attract other men have a higher opportunity to cheat.

Women's facial attractiveness is what men are attracted to. We do not look at a pretty girl and say to ourselves "Geez, she sure does have the facial features that predict infidelity!" That is stupid.

Men are aware that attractive women will attract other men and very often it's the case that men will actually avoid such women or resign themselves to sex or short term flings and not take such women seriously precisely because they know they are not "relationshipeable."

The only women who show physical signs of low infidelity would be ugly women - if we are being perfectly blunt here.

Men aren’t wired for fidelity. They are wired for polygyny. Monogamy is a compromise solution that gives both men and women partially what they want - a faithful resource provider, emotional support provider and protector for women, regular sexual activity for men, something that is difficult for most men to procure in an unrestricted polygynous environment.

Men are wired towards fearing cuckoldry too while in a monogamous relationship, but they are more wired to wanting polygyny, hence the preferences towards unrestricted faces despite the fact that it could create potential fidelity problems. Furthermore, an unrestricted face would likely mean more sex within that monogamous relationship, even if the risk of infidelity is higher.
