I knew a guy who's baby mama stayed in the apartment they lived in after they broke up. She had the kids with her most of the time but he would come and visit on weekends. The apartment building she lived in belonged to his parents so she lived rent and utility free and he would give her like $1000/month cash to help out with the kids. She demanded more, took him to court and got them to up it to $1500/month. His family told her to find a new place to live. The apartment she was living in for free normally rents for $1800/month...

Yeah that’s spoken like a 14 year old that’s never actually dealt with women. I love browsing some of these stories on this sub and watching smug feminazis get a dose of reality; but don’t act like this is all women. That shit just makes you looks like an incel.

Or someone that went through an awful divorce. My homie was married to this chick and she was nuts. Wouldn’t let him see friends. Wouldn’t leave his side 24/7. She got a job where he works so she could be around him more literally wouldn’t leave him alone. Sure enough they had a kid and 5 years after that she divorcees him. He has to pay $1,000 in child support and $1,000 in alimony. She has a nice apartment and living the dream dating drug dealers and shit. Meanwhile he can only afford an apartment in a less than ok neighborhood now and she won’t let him see his kid unless he goes to her his parents house because his house is in such an unsafe location. Dude hates woman so much after this one day just stated he was bisexual and now only fucks dudes. I think that woman just broke him cause that man hates woman now.

Some guy I know works freelance at construction. Problem is, he gets paid cash, which to the government basically means he is unemployed. So we are talking and he tells me about his daughter, how he paid 500 reais a month for her upbringing, and some stuff like new shoes etc.
Then her mom got greedy and said she wanted more, but she was clearly using the money to herself. Took him to court. Due to his irregular work condition, she couldn't prove how much money he actually made.
Ended up having to pay only 120

I thought people wanted the financial abortion option? I've seen lots of posts where the father should have the right to sign away financial obligation of the child if the mother has the baby.
Why would the financial abortion option not be allowable in this case?
[–]JeebusChristBalls 55 points56 points57 points 6 years ago (44 children) | Copy Link
Because she could have had the real abortion but for some reason didn't. Financial abortion is only for men because men don't have the option to tell a woman what to do with their body. Just like you shouldn't be able to tell someone not to get an abortion, you can't make someone get one either.
[–]sadacal 19 points20 points21 points 6 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
But what if the father wants to keep the baby but the mother doesn't? If the mother is willing to carry the baby to term and have a financial abortion instead, isn't it in everyone's best interests to make this possible?
[–]Coal_Morgan 12 points13 points14 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That would be covered under surrogacy laws in some places. Just get a legal contract saying you’re paying her to have the baby for you and that she voids rights and responsibilities after the birth.
It’s not iron clad though and a lot of surrogacy co tracts haven’t been tested in courts.
[–]JeebusChristBalls 18 points19 points20 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
If she agrees to do that then yes, I would agree with your statement. That is basically an arranged surrogacy. The problem is that that didn't happen because financial abortions aren't a thing in the legal sense as far as I know. I am pretty sure if two adults came to a decision like that, and then then, down the road, the father decided he wants money, then the courts would get him the money.
To force a woman to become a parent would be a no-go. That is the same thing that goes on with men where they are forced to be a parent (at least financially) just because a woman wants to have a kid. The woman has all the choices during the short window of early pregnancy to make a decision on whether she wants to be a mother. The man never has a decision at all but has the live with the choices the woman makes. It is her body BTW.
[–]sadacal 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I was not talking about whether financial abortions are a real legal thing or not, but your statement that they should be only for men. I think women should be able to get financial abortions too for the reason I described in my previous post.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Great idea on paper but I have a really hard time seeing conservative legislatures not abusing a clause like that to make abortion de facto illegal. Just normalize the process of abortion, chip away at the stigma, and don’t give any avenues to criminalize it or further stigmatize women making this decision.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It’s crazy to me that the conservative solution to abortion is an outright ban coupled with terrible sex education. Those two things are proven to only make things worse.
The solution is clear as day. Better sex education, access to female and male contraceptives, and legal abortions. That’s it. That’s how you get there to be less abortions, but for some reason that’s not what conservatives want.
[–]Walter_jones 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
In many states abortion is very expensive, she could be disowned from family for it, medically she can't do it, it's nearly illegal, a variety of reasons. But I don't think that's the main issue.
I don't see why physical abortion removes the financial abortion option. A guy can't get pregnant but the woman can physically sign a financial abortion document. So I don't really see why we need to ban the mother from that route if we're actually establishing the financial abortion structure.
[–]JeebusChristBalls 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think I would gladly pay for an abortion than take on a child. If I didn't have the money, I would find it. These are not good reasons in my opinion to not allow this. If you cannot raise the child and the other person doesn't want to either then it shouldn't be brought into this world.
Also, I'm bored of this topic as it is all fictional anyway.
[–]fidgetthrowaway1 11 points12 points13 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
For two reasons. First, until the financial abortion option exists, we have to try to make the current system as equal as possible. Second, if enough women are forced to pay child support, their chances of supporting financial abortion and its likelihood of getting passed go way up.
[–]rattleglorious 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
If it was a real option, I'd be fine with it. It's not, so seeing cases where the woman gets the system on here for once is nice. Also, I'd imagine she decided she wanted nothing to do with the kid after it was born or at least too late for an abortion and saddled the father with all the responsibility.
[–]ThatDamnedRedneck 8 points9 points10 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Slaynne 358 points359 points360 points 6 years ago (30 children) | Copy Link
Not necessarily. There are a couple states that are notorious for standard child support levels being through the roof. I was making ~$55k - $60k when I was in the military and California made me cough up $1700 monthly.
[–]OverlordWaffles 141 points142 points143 points 6 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
It probably depends on each state but I know in my home state, they could take up to either 51% or 50% of their income for support.
So with that calculation and worst case scenario, she makes $42,000 a year or just over $20/hr.

i was friends with a guy who made 30k a year and had to pay 1000 a month
[–]Slaynne 34 points35 points36 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah. It's not a simple percentage calculation. It depends on a LOT of things. Mostly how much time the kids spend with the non-custodial parent. Health insurance and tons of other things go into how much is owed.
One thing that is not considered very heavily is the situation that the non-custodial parent is put in. Which is unfortunate.

Yes. It was. I had to move and get roommates to make it work.
[–]connecteduser 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It is ridiculous when you think about it. It is like the calculations include shelter and childcare. Something parents provide at no additional cost. I went to my states website to calculate the cost of child support for my kids and it would cost me significantly more in child support than what I pay now.
Technically, you would think I would be saving money because I have one less mouth to feed. Nope.
/I love my wife and kids. I was just curious.

10k a month is like around $130,000 salary before taxes. That’s not really a 70 hour work week salary.
Edit: I can tell the amount of people who don’t work here based on how many think my math is wrong. Most people don’t get paid monthly folks, they get paid weekly or bi weekly. Now divide $130,000 by 52 or 26, multiply that over a month, and let me know what you come out with.

While this isn’t exactly the same, my stepsons mom moved 9 hours away and married a man with his own 3 younger kids. She plays the victim and keeps trying to make the stepsons move to where she moved and was not paying much in child support (based on a verbal agreement before her move). Took her to court and she was to pay $2800 a month based on her income but we ended up only asking for about half that, because we don’t need that much for the kids. Plus she kept telling the kids we were trying to bankrupt her by asking for child support.

For just 100k pre-tax
“According to new data from polling company YouGov exclusively shared with Yahoo Finance, just 9% of Americans are earning $100,000 or more a year.”
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/more-millennials-have-higher-salaries-than-gen-xers-boomers-185011477.html
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the median weekly earnings across all ages, races, and both genders was $908 for the most recent quarter of 2019. That translates into just over $47,000 for the year.
120k even before taxes for a single individual is still pretty damn rare if you ask me
https://www.census.gov/content/census/en/library/publications/2018/demo/p60-263.html
Edit: Who doesn’t love a good semantic argument? Me that’s who. I should have known before I posted any stats that this would boil down to a semantic argument about what “rare” means. I apologize for opening this box of worms I have only myself to blame. 120K is a ton of money to me and in my community you would be one of the richest people in town and that amount obviously means something absolutely different in SanFrancisco or NewYork so there’s another debate to be had about weighting the numbers based on cost of living. Still, for me, less than 10% would constitute rare especially when the upper percentages include the extravagantly wealthy. It’s not just 10% making 100k that’s simply the poorest of that top 10%. It also seems many are confusing household income with individual so keep that in mind. Again, my apologies please use your own judgement. Keep in mind plenty of people who make 200k a year still see themselves as middle class or even poor; wealth can seem quite relative once you get past the point of worrying about survival which many people are not.

Yes, and a little under 9% of people make 120k a year, so it's honestly fairly common.
Nowadays you probably aren't rich if you make that much.

[–]An_Antagonist 13 points14 points15 points 6 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

[–]danzilla0071 points 6 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link
It's actually ~14.5 million people because it's 9% of the work force.
[–]An_Antagonist 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]KayIslandDrunk 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]theoldwisemen 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I wonder if that takes into account the labor force or the actual population and if it includes household income or by capita.
[–]danzilla0071 points 6 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link
It's a percentage of the work force, unless otherwise stated. This is standard because 24% of US are under 18, and another 15% are 65 and over. So 9% of total would become 22% of ages 18-64 making $100k+, which is absurd.
It's like 5% of Americans, it's rare dude.
[–]ysisverynice 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
People with 100k+ salaries are going to be concentrated in high cost of living areas. So for some people it will seem rare but for others it's much more common.
[–]BrokeAssBrewer 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I doubt that figure it weighted against cost of living. There are so many pseudo-6 figure salaries on the coasts and in major cities that are as economically effective as making 35k in a less desirable market. 6 figures is the poverty line in most of CA
[–]UltimateSausage1 points 6 years ago* [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

For a woman abandoning a child... it really is.
[+]TheHadMatter15 -23 points-22 points-21 points 6 years ago (46 children) | Copy Link
Yeah except I'm pretty sure that a woman making over $10k a month wouldn't go through the trouble of giving birth only to ditch the kid and never pay for it.
If women don't care about the child, they have an abortion, they don't give birth (which is also the reason why dads end up ditching a family 95% of the time).
[–]kangarooninjadonuts 83 points84 points85 points 6 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, because women are predictable and never do anything crazy. Lol
[–]iApolloDusk -2 points-1 points0 points 6 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link
It's not a matter of predictibility. It's just more so statistical likelihood. The idea that a woman pulling in 6 figures becomes pregnant, doesn't want the child, doesn't abort it, and then abandons said child is infinitely less likely than it being a made-up lie that so many people want to believe because they're tired of seeing women do the same shit to men. Just statistically speaking here, people of higher socioeconomic statuses (like the woman mentioned in the Tweet) are just far less likely to do that type of shit. There's less overall child abandonment among the rich than among the poor and it's ultimately from a lack of education, instilled family values, and personal responsibility.
[–]PartypantsPete1 points 6 years ago* [recovered] (7 children) | Copy Link
Ah yes, because women who make money are never opposed to abortion. Everyone know that if you have money then you’re perfectly fine with abortion and all moral objections that keep the average woman from getting an abortion just go out the window, eh?
[–]InstigaTORxx 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Totally agree with you and it’s a logical conclusion to what’s more likely , it doest mean that the other option is impossible but logic says it’s less likely is all.
The guy below doest want to even acknowledge that there are other possibilities because it doest fit the overall hate .
Bam my logical conclusion :p
[–]KongQiuBBQ 9 points10 points11 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
What if they regret giving birth?
[–]DisWastingMyTime 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
They'd still support it, what you're talking about is pretty much a statistical anomaly at this socioeconomic bracket, for women none the less.
It's a lot more likely that the twitter guy is lying
[–]Jiigsi 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
And that's it, isn't it? It's just less likely to happen.
Why are people acting as if statistics invalidate any kind of anomaly from the norm
[–]MazeeMoo 9 points10 points11 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Some women won't have an abortion, even if they don't want to raise the child. Some give the kid up for adoption. Some give custody up to the baby daddy if they want custody before adoption takes place.

[–]SubmissiveJew 7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Sadly you obviously dont have an open mind ... Think of it this way
Woman makes over 10k a month gets pregnant but knows getting an abortion comes with some serious risks so she paranoid and decides to have the kid but gives the father full custody so she doesnt have to feel bad in anyway about potentially giving the kid to Child Services and she can continue her career since she is most likely a materialistic individual ... I know 2 women growing up that abandoned their children with their biological fathers because the mothers are deadbeats like this one
[–]QuintenBoosje 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
isn't childbirth riskier than abortion?
[–]Cizuz1 points 6 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link
Do you think people make rational decisions; and do you think rational decisions only mean the decision you would make?
I.e. while abortion is rational religion exists; and while that may not be a "rational reason" you would use to make your decision; women do use that reasoning to justify not having an abortion. That and family pressure; the want to have a child; and also peer pressure.
Hell most people have no issues assuming dads are dead beats but when it comes to moms "SHE MAKES TO MUCH WHY WOULD SHE ABANDON HER CHILD" like... WE WANT EQUALITY; MEN AND WOMEN ARE THE SAME; YET WE JUST PRETEND ALL MEN ARE JUST DEAD BEATS AND IT MAKES SENSE HE'S AN ASSHOLE NO MATTER HOW MUCH HE MAKES... but "NO WOMEN WOULD EVER DO THAT HUR DUR!!!" and it's just stupid.
[–]SubmissiveJew 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
If you are 100 lbs having a child ya probably but I mean child birth has had its risks since the beginning of time abortion can cause women to not have children again .. lose all feeling internally ... period alterations from scarring heavy flow from light flow list can go on I'm naming the ones I can think of

OP claims she makes $150k a year. Unusual? yeah it is:
First, OP is in pakistan, so the post is fake.
$150k/year for an individual (not household) is very high.
Women make mess money than men. Younger people, which these are, make less money. Let's say age 30. That puts this woman in the 99th percentile if true. She's basically the 1%.
On top of all that, she appears to be black. Not "Obama" black, either. Actual black. "I ain't givin you shit" black. These women grossly underperform other races in income. So she's not the 1%, she's more like the top 0.1%.
If she was real, which she isn't.

Yeah but the guy in the screenshot used the phrase "baby momma". People who use that phrase usually aren't having kids with doctors and lawyers. you sound like a dweeb incel. baby momma is popular speech by now. its on television and in music, everyone uses it and the fact that you think 1. language is devided by class and 2. someone who makes 6 figures is automatically a higher class thats speaks differently, shows that you are poor yourself and don't socialise with others very well.

I don’t know. I don’t make 150k, but I do make over 100k, and I don’t like to give up my money. Currently my wife is upset because I don’t want to spend 10 dollars on an extra toddler potty seat for our downstairs bathroom, so we have to carry him to the upstairs potty every time he needs to go.
It’s not quite “risking a court case”, but I understand the idea of not wanting to give up any amount of money until forced to.
[–]Vloff 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Not the greatest analogy because your option is spend $10 or dont. It's not the same as risking thousands more by not getting it.

Came here to say this.
My ex and I have joint custody of our kid and see him just about equally. Due to the fact he spends literally six hours there more than here I pay child support.
My ex just puts all that into a savings account for him, so I've never bothered to actually go to court and reduce it.
I pay the standard 17% gross. It comes to about $240/mo. I make $50k/yr.
If 50k/yr has a normal, unaltered support rate of $250 per month, the OP here must be making... $250,000 per year?
[–]MiscllaneousShitPost 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]aurortonks 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
In some states, child support can be up to 60% of the parent's gross income. So, she could be making less than 5k a month and still have to pay this amount.
[–]charmandaaa 497 points498 points499 points 6 years ago (60 children) | Copy Link
People are so quick to say this is fake. Have you guys ever been through court for child support? Because I don’t think you have lol. Based where I live in order to get this you’d simply have to make over 100,000 a year which is definitely not unheard of. They don’t base child support on monthly income, they base it on overall gross yearly income, before taxes and they don’t give a shit about your bills. Judges also tend to be much harder on someone who refused to step up and help raise their child.
[–]cantadmittoposting 189 points190 points191 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

[–]cantadmittoposting 21 points22 points23 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah that adds to the insanity, paying during the months you have custody. I asked about that and iirc at 50% custody the monthly payment would have only gone down about ~20-25% and I would have still continued to pay monthly for the half the year I had custody as well. Which is absolutely nuts, it's basically paying a straight up penalty at that point.
[–]charmandaaa 22 points23 points24 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That absolutely is garbage ! I live in Canada and one of the most expensive provinces to pay child support. My bf got lucky and made an agreement with his BM but his BMs new husband pays a lot more than this per child and he makes roughly 200k a year.
For all we know this judge could’ve also made this BM pay back pay for months she’s missed over who knows how long, it could include alimony or as I said the judge straight up fucked her because she refused to be a damn adult and take responsibility for her shit.
I pay $400 a month myself for my four kids and their mother only has them 1 day a month more than I do.

It's such a scam. I know some ppl need it but my mom made more than my dad as a kid and he just did construction and odd jobs. They asked him for something like 1500 a month plus he still had to pay rent and phone bill and all that.
When he couldn't pay he'd get locked up, you still have to pay while in jail so he'd get out and be about 5k behind what he already was. Get locked up again for the same offence. Also it's for the state, not the momma/baby daddy. My mom mailed the state capital and went to court saying she didn't need the payments and it was ruining my dad's life. The state said "oh no honey you need those payments and we like those taxes."
Even after I turned 18 and I was in my early 20s he still owed the state back child support money that probably didn't even go to my mom, funny thing is it never went to me. They should take a percentage of that money and put it in a secure child's account no one can access until they're 18. Sorry for the ramble just my 2 cents, I hate the gov lol

After my parents died, I exercised an option in their will to buyout my two sisters’ share of the family homestead. A local real estate agent set a price range. I used the midpoint to establish a “fair” market value. My older sister sued me in court insisting it was nearly two hundred thousand dollars undervalued. The judge looked at all the evidence and instead of raising the price, he actually lowered it. Icing on the cake: He also allowed me to add an extra 10K to my share to recoup money and time spent fixing up the house while the estate owned it!

Lovely. If you want to make a baby, should you also be willing to at least make sure it is safe, feed, sheldert and recieve education (when it is older).
I am all for equal right and responsebillitys for men and women.
[–]laughing-tree 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I agree with you 100%. I don’t think this is post has anything with “pussy pass”. I think the mother is just a bitch that didn’t want to take care of the child she gave birth to. But for every woman in this scenario there are just as many men. I work at a preschool and we have a ton of single parents... it’s just about equal for single mothers vs single fathers.
[–]DreamingDragonSoul 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think you are right. We just hear more about the single women.

[–]serious_grey[S] 15 points16 points17 points 6 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
Prolly works in a law firm , let me know if u find her, we can compete with each other and see who gets the price
[–]disco_pancake1 points 6 years ago [recovered] (6 children) | Copy Link
If she's a lawyer, then she would have basic knowledge of how child support payments work and would know that $500 was a steal. She also would not want it to go to court because it's very possible that word could get back to her peers/clients about it. Abandoning a child can be a career killer for professional women due to the beliefs that women are supposed to be motherly and put their family above all else.
If this post is true, I'd bet anything she's not a lawyer. A lawyer would probably take the $500 and make it so she gets the child one and awhile so she can keep up the appearance of being a family woman.
[–]Nukken 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You're probably right, but my anecdotal story is my wife is a paralegal and there are plenty of stupid, spiteful lawyers out there.
[–]ILikeToArgueALot 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Could this work in reverse though? Like she is so arrogant about being a lawyer she thinks shes good enough to win the case? and then fails.
[–]disco_pancake1 points 6 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link
I'm not a lawyer, but I don't think you can win a child support case if you're not caring for the child. You just have to pay whatever the judge/laws say you have to pay.
Aside from that, in a professional setting most women wouldn't want it to be publicly known that you abandoned and wont support your child. It can just be so damaging to your career. Some of the women (and men) I know feel pressured to have families because their firms/clients value that family man/woman vibe. It's worse for women since there is a lot of 'there must be something wrong with her' sexism in the workplace when it comes to women who don't have a family as they get older.
[–]ILikeToArgueALot 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah true. Well I dont think she was a lawyer then. If the pic is true she most likely was a woman in a high end job that thought women always win.
Though it doesn't make sense either. A well earning career woman wouldn't usually have the kid in the first place if she didn't want it. Just get an abortion.
[–]SpecialSause 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'm not going to argue with y po u but there's lawyers out there that know the law and still do absolutely stupidly illegal shit. Look at good ole Rudy. Prine example.

[–]Hippo_Operator 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
1750USD per month? Damn, what a broken system... or she's making 10's of thousands per month.
[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Why’s it matter how much she makes? Shouldn’t there a be a “this much is required to raise a child” limit?
[–]Hippo_Operator 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes, I agree with you. It should be based of what it costs to raise a child, but it's actually based off how much you earn as an individual.
They don't factor in, bill's, rent, medical expenses etc etc.
Its based on income. Because a child shouldn't have a worse life just because one parent is richer then the other. Still kinda BS though
[–]iApolloDusk -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Yeah that's a six figure income easily if they're taking that much lmao. It's just so fucking fake that it hurts. Rich people, especially rich women, are just so infinitely unlikely to have an unwanted pregnancy, not abort the kid, and then go and abandon it that this story just does not hold up. The type of behavior being presented just does not correlate to the typical lifestyle, background, and family values of a person that would be pulling in a massive salary. I mean it very possibly could be real, but I have some huge doubts.
Youre totally right pal, I couldn't agree more with what you are saying.
[–]Yolo_Quant 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Idk if its fake but when I was in Boston I dated a nurse who made over 90k and had lost her child custody and paid child support..
Also dated a Marketing director who made six figures and she was easily the most selfish and fucked up person I ever met.
So your guys give too much credit for people who goes to college and work their way up, you don't have to be smart just lucky sometimes.
[–]iApolloDusk 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You'd have to be making about 150k or more in some places in order to be mandated a payment like that. I'm not saying that it's impossible, it's just that given the three aforementioned criteria PLUS the unlikelihood of a judge actually handing out a gender-equal order is just insane. It's probably a 1/100,000,000 chance this happened to the poster, meanwhile it's feasibly more likely that it's someone making shit up and trying to give broken men a justice boner.
Statistical likelihood doesn't mean that I'm right, but if the story seems to good to be true- it probably is.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Someone above got 50 upvotes for saying, "a woman with the work ethic to earn that much is exactly the kind of woman who wouldn't sacrifice her career for kids," as if that makes this post more real. They're right that those women are career oriented, but that just means their pregnancies are planned and often happen when they're in their 30s and they're settled into their career trajectory.
It's the same for men. Higher income and higher education are correlated, at which point the likelihood of a child out of wedlock, divorce, or an unwanted pregnancy being carried to term all drop precipitously.
Precisely my point. If a woman didn't want her child and she's in that socioeconomic status, she's far more likely to abort it, give it away for adoption, or at the very least hire a full-time nanny. It'd be so much cheaper to just have a nanny take care of your kid if you're being ordered to pay $1700 in child support lmao.
The system is broke, hence why my father threatened my mothers family to keep her from going for custody

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
1750$ a month is honestly insane. I’m not saying she shouldn’t pay, I’m saying something doesn’t add up here..
[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
It's based on income. Make more, pay more.
[–]Faithlessness_Top 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Which is still insane. It should be based on how much a child costs to raise. A child doesn't cost 2 million a month just because someone makes 20 million.

[–]JeebusChristBalls 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Some states, I believe, will toss you in jail for not paying child support. I don't agree with that but it's a thing.
[–]waltwalt 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Jail does no good unless they're sitting on a pile of money that can be automatically garnished for support. Putting them in jail just cuts off their income, possibly permanently.
[–]JeebusChristBalls 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I don't agree with that but it's a thing.
I understand it is like modern day debtors prison. I was just making a statement that not paying child support could put her in jail.
[–]waltwalt 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Oh so like weekend jail, not lose your job and start getting raped frequently prison.
All srates do if you do it enough and try and block there other ways of getting the money.
[–]sikagoon7 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I don't think court judgements have any affect on your credit whether or not you pay them. Unless it's a bankruptcy.
Courts get their money out of you in other ways.
[–]waltwalt 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Well the court gets paid, but now that there is a court order to pay support that can be taken to a different authority and either garnish their wages or show they're not paying support and that counts as unpaid debt which hurts your credit rating.
[–]sikagoon7 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'm not an expert in this but there are different types of debt. Debt to creditors that can be sold to collections and written off affects your credit. The company has to write off your debt and sell the rights to it to a collections agency that will open an account on your SSN
Child support and alimony debt are not typically sent to collections if you're behind. I've never head of a single mother selling her child support debt to a collections agency and the state won't pay you missed child support and then sell that debt either. Will it show up on your credit score as debt? Maybe if it is reported by your baby mama... but who thinks to do that?
Collections is recourse for a creditor you spurned. Courts will just garnish your wage. They're way more powerful that way.
[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That's how it's done either way. I go by the government table for child maintenance. When I left a very good paying job due to my health (graveyards for 10+ years) and asked her to sign a form accepting the lower payment due to a wage cut. The bitch said NO, that's not what the Court order says was her reply. Wtf? I'm not your personal income? So have to take her to court to change the court order it cost me $9000 in legal fees to take a $20,000 pay cut but my quality of life and health has gone up exponentially.
The best part of all of this is that her lawyer gave my lawyer things that I should "do" to prepare for the case and the last minute tells her client that they are going to lose and bilked her of her money without ever going to court. I won and she doesn't get one dime over what I had asked for in the first place...
[–]JonSnowLovesBlow 6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Wtf? The reverse of this happens all the fucking time. How is this on here?
[–]mayrunal 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
thats kinda the point—the reverse happens all the time. she was trying to avoid paying bc she’s a woman but the court held her liable.
[–]JonSnowLovesBlow 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
No, i meant guys get away with not paying child support. How many dead beat dads are there vs dead beat mums?
[–]mayrunal 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
oh i see. you’re right about that; but then again, there are also a lot of fathers who are forced into paying child support when they shouldn’t have to, so it just goes both ways i guess
[–]JonSnowLovesBlow 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah i see what you mean
[–]BabyStockholmSyndrom 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
First, it's likely fake. But how is this because she's a woman? No one said that. The post just says she said no. This post clearly is just a woman hate train. People in this sub rail against support all the time when it's the woman demanding it lol.
[–]mayrunal 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
well she said she wasnt going to pay shit & probably assumed she wouldn’t have to, though that’s only a guess.
but you’re probably right, it probably is fake—it’s really unlikely that a court would ever rule in favor of the father

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Not sure if this is real. If she fully gave up her rights as a parent she isn't required to pay child support. If only custody as in the child just doesn't live with her at all but she is still part of the child's life legally then she may be required. I am sure this is different for certain countries.
[–]Ed98208 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
She just gave up custody. It's really hard to get out of your legal responsibility as a parent. You would need someone to accept that responsibility for you and agree to no financial support. You can't just say "I don't want to raise this kid or pay for it, take me off the title" or every deadbeat parent would be doing it.
I agree
[–]TheCrowGrandfather 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
That's not how it works in the US at all. Even without parent rights you are still legally responsible to provide for that child.
Seems dependent on the situation.

Don’t drown me in downvotes because it’s not a popular opinion but why is this here? This subreddit is meant to be when people play the pussy card and it’s revoked, not just any punishment / recourse that so happens to be happening to a woman. I know divorce payments, child benefits etc are usually from man to woman and this is special because it’s woman to man but nothing from the post suggested that the woman the guy is talking about tried to use a pussy pass. If it was like “I’m a girl I don’t have to pay you shit” I’d understand but this just looks like people are happy that a woman is being punished and it fuels the fires of people that say the sub is just for shitting on women.

[–]watch_over_me 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
If you look at the number where both the man and woman make the exact same amount of money, and have equal parenting time, men still always pay child support, and at higher rates, compared to woman who typically aren't ordered to pay child support at all.
The most sexist institution alive, is the Friend of the Court. And looking at any number of stats proves it.

God damn... The court has insane idea of what amount of money one person can give the other.
It's made to protect one but it's actually insane. I have my kids 50% of the time, but because I thought I'd help a good person out of a difficult situation( I was retarded, she was not, its a classic I wish someone had done this to me help moment but I should of just helped myself). She never got better, was a complete narcissistic manipulative person who lied to me about all her interests for so long. Turns out she's a stupid trash radio listeners, that love to eat at McDonald and buy stuff at the dollar store.
Well that said, after taking care of that bitch for 6 years at full cost, wondering when she'd wake up. Something happened to me, got sick. She left for someone else. That person dumped her... we have 2 kids (that she forced on me) she tried to come back. Telling me all the things about family, respect and how no other people can offer us what we can have. She spent all that time yelling at me and we split again.
On an everyday basis that weird behavior of pointing all my mistakes, shutting me down like she's constantly trying to prove that "I'm not THAT good". 4
Well... now we have split custody, 50/50. Because she's a lazy fucking bitch who is not about money. Bitch does not work. Bitch get 950$ because of it. She lives in the pool of some other douchebag thinking a good person needs a little help. She's kind of a bitch to the children too. Not lose custody bitch... just controlling, too hard/too soft parenting style,
I'm getting through but my life is absolutely ruined.. non only did I have to quickly sell the family house that was out of town but I can't ever imagine a future in my current direction... at 950$ all dreams are out... It makes no sense to me. I think I'm going to have to turn to something illegal... or start my own business and get out of having revenues... She's an adult, she's got multiple diplomas with 90%+ score on exams.
Fuck I hate the court.

Can confirm. My ex wanted a 1300 a week paycheck from me. I said I would give her 500 a week. She declined and took me to court. Judge scolded her for lying about expenses and ended up at 300 a week and she owes me back 8k in arrears. So 250 a week for the next 3 years roughly.
[–]serious_grey[S] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Bro 500 a week ? U earn 6 figures too?
[–]colonel80 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Barely. I literally was taking home 40% of my pay after taxes and support. And my ex was making 98k as a school vice principal with a masters degree. After the divorce she got fired and now works as an English teacher making 60k. She also accused me of being grossly under employed in court, the judge chuckled.
BOOSH!

Unless this woman is pulling in 6 figures a year that is insanely high. I'm paid 21.20hr and my child support is 167.75 a week. I make under 50000 a year.

According to to my monkey math if she is providing support for one child she is around 135k / year... if this is even real.

I was facing
8k alimony/ month 6.5k child support /month
My gross income is obviously really high. But at the end of the day 6/12 months I take home about 14.5k after taxes etc. The other 6 months I am somewhere between 14.5k and 23k take home
She makes 50k/year.
I would have had to basically hand over my entire pay check 6/12 months and the other 6/12 I would get a fraction of what I earn.
Feel good story: I got her to sign a marriage agreement capping child support and eliminating alimony. We will probably divorce but at least I know now I am not gonna blow my head off out of necessity one day.
Family law is FUUUUUUCKED.

Correct me if I'm wrong. Isn't this actually pretty rare that the mother has to pay? It feels like it's usually the father that gets gutted for child support, not the mother.

Fucking win!
I tried paying my sons mom money just to have my son part time and couldn’t make it happen without rerollint court sessions.
Now she’s fucked up out of her skull on drugs and have given custody to me and my sons little brothers father (amazing dude and kid, TOTALLY welcomed into the family, and they welcome us to theirs).
She’s so messed up she gave us (the two fathers of both her sons) full custody and thanks us for being such amazing dads for picking up everything in her doped up leave of absence.
I’m not saying this in any vengeful way at all. Please know that everyone. This is just something that everyone called out would happen eventually where our legal system gives the mom the automatic full parentship from the start.
I love my son but his mom and I do everything I can to make peace and we been good for years but she been dating a dirtbag pos who has kept her influenced away from what is important I. Her life (her two amazing, beautiful sons)
She cooperates with everything that happens in court with us (the fathers) taking full custody of our sons. It was always something everyone expected would happen and in NO WAY something that is sex biased towards either parent being the “better parent”.
I am so fortunate enough in the chain of messes she has started that everyone works together for the kids sake and with us dads having custody of our sons that she turned over without a fight, that in this mess we all work together for the two kids.
I don’t know what it’s worth but just saying, even when someone is totally messing up their own life with drugs or whatever, that they CAN still do what is right for the best interest of the kids. It’s not common, but it can happen. I am so fortunate for the people involved for things being how they are.
While it’s happening, I’m working to help his mom with her addictions and abusive relationships she has been Involved with since as much as possible, making sure she can see my son (her sons, we both help as much as possible) even though she doesn’t show up often enough that we don’t ever tell the kids they will see their mom later in the day and just let them find out if it happens on their own because it’s often enough that she says she will show up and doesn’t.
It is a Jerry fucking Springer show. I know, but I could not be more grateful for how much EVERY party involved works completely towards what is best for the kids, even when they know they are giving up custody of their kids.
Drugs are fucked up. I wish more than anything that my son(s) mom can get past them because THEY NEED HER. And not only that, we all (her family, her kids, her exes family, my family) miss the good mom she used to be and will do whatever we can for our kids to have their mom choose them again over going out for a night where she will get to snort shit up her nose.
I know I’m rambling and ending it now, but just trying to make it aware, that in the most intricate of messes, that good things can still happen.
It isn’t something that all people are able to do for sure. I have a best bud since we were kids who isn’t the best person himself and his babies moms do everything they can in using when he can see his kids against him because he can’t afford to get things settled in court with their cooperation, even though he would HAPPILY take them half the time (and as much as possible after that) if he could.
This could be just as well reversed towards a deadbeat father (like my best friend, who many day is deadbeat but really just can’t afford to make things fair custody).
Just trying to put the message out that everything isn’t always what it seems, your enemies can also be who you work together with for something better and bigger, and that even when things fall apart for shit reasons likes drugs, it doesn’t always mean everyone smites that person for everything they can crit on them. When it comes to the kids, WORK TOGETHER AND NEVER USE VISITATION as upper arm against the other parent.
The kids will grow up and be able to see/investigate the story for themselves. If my son ever decides to look into this when he gets a little bit older, he WILL KNOW that I did everything I ever could to help his mom in every possible way. And not that I would ever bring the light of it to him myself, IF he investigates enough he will see that his mom threatened me and her sons other father with every last threat of taking them from us and never seeing them again. At the same time they will see that since her being fucked up that the dads AND HER did and cooperated in every last way to doing what is best for the boys.
This story is almost NEVER the case in breakups and parental court orders, but I’m just trying to put a message out there that if more people didn’t use their kids as bargaining chips, they could make their kids lives so much better faster.
Again, just stating thus could be a story going BOTH WAYS. There are just as much dads out there who aren’t the best people as the moms. However this story can help anyone, I’m happy for sharing it.

OP just posted something he found on Instagram. I don't think he's trying to say he's Mike Jenkins.
He posted a bunch of details like he knows the people involved.
I just checked and it's a real twitter post, but people on twitter called the dude out as being full of shit. Dude replied to himself trying to sell merch, so it's pretty obvious he was just trying to go viral to get clicks to advertise.
It's very, very implausible to say the least. Like 99.9% implausible.

I'm against the whole idea of forced child support. If you want to keep the baby and the other person doesn't that sounds like it's fully your choice and you should take on full responsibility.
[–]Fizzwidgy 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
People should have to pass a test and get certified to have children.
Change my mind.
[–]serious_grey[S] 14 points15 points16 points 6 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link
You both produced a child now fking pay for the kid, alot of times a parent is forced to take custody of the child either the child father or mother is idiot and one has to sacrifice. To care for the kid one parent gets to sacrifice while the other give his her share of price
[–]Zadien22 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
If a woman doesn't want a child, she gets to abort it. If the man doesn't, tough shit, he's gotta pay for that for 18 years? Fuck that, and you.
[–]granolanutbars 6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah I hate people who talk about “you both made this child now you have to pay”
Suck my balls bruh, I’ve had chicks have abortions without telling me. I’ve been told again and again I have no right to be angry, it’s her body. But if they ever decide to keep it, suddenly it’s “you both made this child, now you have to take care of the consequences”
[–]openyourojos 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
stop. that thinking is seriously outdated and harmful.
women get a choice. if they don't want to have a kid and you do... they can kill your kid. if you don't want to have a kid and they do they can force you to have one.
there needs to be recourse to say "I will not be a part of this child's life and want no rights or responsibility"
if they choose to then go through with the pregnancy knowing that its 100% on them.
this whole conscription buillshit is super fucked up ESPECIALLY when the state doesn't even give a shit if they have the right guy.
https://www.firstcoastnews.com/article/news/man-forced-to-pay-child-support-despite-dna-test-proving-he-is-not-the-father/77-f0f77af5-409c-40e4-8c6e-3336123e1f85
this shit is disgusting and needs reform. its not 1950 anymore. women have high paying careers and can work and have all the same rights I do. there's no reason to force men to subsidize their children for them anymore.
alot of times a parent is forced to take custody of the child
you mean a lot of times fathers are kept from their children because of outdated and harmful beliefs about mothers being more important? is that what you meant?
To care for the kid one parent gets to sacrifice while the other give his her share of price
you're disgusting.
give his her share of price
seriously? absolutely abhorrent. THAT'S A FUCKING CHILD NOT A HONDA CIVIC YOU DISGUSTING MOTHERFUCKER.

Wasn’t ready to raise a child or have one.
Then you shouldn’t of opened your legs in the first place girl. This also applies to guys too. If you think your pull out game is on point and even if she’s on the pill plus maybe you wear a condom. Always know there’s a chance it can still happen. That’s one a few reasons I ain’t trying to get fresh with girls. I’m in no position to support a family, not just a kid. I’d be there for my child no matter what, but I’d like to provide them with everything they need and what I didn’t have if possible.
Lastly, I’m not eager for another big reason. I don’t trust anyone. If you can and I can provide proof we’re both clean, then I’m all for it. I’m definitely not gonna get something off someone. I feel like plenty of people go in silly nilly then come out with something. That’s an easy pass from me
