Intro

What GLO is trying to communicate to you, "readers", is simply his prognostication RE: the economic and social consequences of the current cultural narrative. I treat his answer to the question of these consequences as I would any other - a data point, with bonus care since it's from an interesting and well-read person.

I do not think the USA is going full authoritarian anytime soon, but I do not like the current cultural narrative, and I like to hear radical positions when they are well-argued.

Economics

Generally speaking, economics create the shape of the sexual marketplace. 1950s marriage is better understood as "single income family is possible" than "trad wife was a female virtue". Likewise, the politics of the time supported this position - family and racial law(s) meant being white and married was a pretty good proposition.

His point is simple - the best alternative according to GLO is to go where you are treated best, and his opinion states that is no longer the United States if you share the values articulated above in the OP.

Let's expand upon the broader topic, though.

The Flow of Change

Politics --> Economics --> Culture. But, cultural changes are a loop arrow back to politics - as the changes in culture beget changes in politics.

Women's rights and civil rights have materially changed the SMP and the economy. Those rights movements essentially added a massive amount of supply to the labor force, and excess supply stagnates wages. See real wage vs. productivity since the 70s - it is stagnant.

It's quite obvious what the "problem" is that TRP is trying to solve. The old model used to be that everyone gets married and has kids.

The new model is that everyone goes out to work (women as well) and delays childbearing as long as possible. Dating and mating ceases to be universal with coming of age rituals attached to it, and instead mimics the social darwinist dog-eat-dog nature of the economy.

Media and culture in a capitalist society tends to follow the logic of capitalism, which is impersonal, austere, and imposes calculations of worth based on the commodity form. Desirable partners then become a scarce resource and fulfilling relationships an aspirant transaction, rather than a universally assumed rite of passage, which leaves a lot of unhappy consumers (usually surplus males).

It is not unique to the West and is happening in India and China.

The Child Problem

What childlessness correlates with is a custom of delaying childbirth. Countries like the US or Japan make young people, especially teenagers, completely financially insolvent. First world countries also have a standard of living that radically outstretches the earning potential of young people. The result is that having a child isn't even an option until your mid to late twenties, meaning less children.

We can see this across different time periods. In Europe, the wealthiest third of society had more babies than the bottom two thirds between 1200 and 1850.

I completely ignore and disregard any person who does this because they are not worth talking to. If your empirical and physically verifiable talking points are unsubstantiated crap present in the current narrative, then there is a ~100% chance that your philosophical points are too.
