This is what I tell everyone;

Rejection feels a hell of a lot better than not doing it, and kicking yourself when you're laying in your bed that night.

ie: I asked the Petco cashier out for coffee a few months ago, she said no. I felt like shit for roughly 45 seconds, then I was like fuck yeah, I just did that.

Also, you're going to get rejected WAY more times than you get the result you want, whatever that is.

neither feels great. in my life i've been fortunate to have a few good relationships with females i found attractive and stimulating. it was easy. i was myself and they were around in my circle and things happened. that was a long time ago and i don't live in that world any longer. now, i have to work and put myself out there to be noticed. that should be easy, but I'm an introvert, don't drink alcohol and am particular about my environment. working in a NOC with mostly married men and gamers rarely leads to meeting anyone via proxy. i honestly don't know the first thing about picking someone up, not drunk. 3 years since i drank, 2 of them with my ex.

This is really great advice. Basically, people need to accept that rejection will happen to everyone, and that it shouldn't stop them from at least trying.

Both options have their ups and downs, but only one is right.

We can always convince ourselves we're happy. People going into Pharmacy that couldn't get into Medicine always end up telling people they're glad things went that way.

The only difference is the happiness that is a result of hard work is much easier to live with. You don't have to think about what could've been if you asserted yourself a little harder. You don't have to think about what would've happened if you just got out more... spoke to more people, made more laughs. You don't have to think about everybody else's experiences when you're old alone, and what you missed out on; you don't have to think about the times you didn't take an opportunity.

You only run out on experiences when you stop saying 'Yes' to them. Take every opportunity you can, and you'll be a fulfilled man.

In my opinion, it hasn't got much to do with the rejection itself, but what usually keeps me from approach is my self-perception, if I don't play my cards right. It often happened to me that I freeze up in a conversation and fail miserably, and to be honest, it keeps haunting me to this day, but when I know I did my A-game and got rejected, honestly, I don't feel bad for one second.

So, to sum up, it isn't the rejection that fears us, it's the aftermath of self-judgement... or that's just me.
