Because the oversaturation of dating apps these days have lead to women being more picky. It's also skewed how men and women behave with each other among other factors. Unless you're in the top 10% of looks or have a good profile, it's going to be hard to get matches. Plus, a lot women aren't going on dating apps these days to date. Because men generally go for looks first whereas for women, "looks" is not only physical but emotional.

Men are also more willing to date/fuck down whereas women look to date/fuck upwards.

So you get a lot of men, hitting on a far smaller number of girls. And you get generally good looking men who die to market dynamics have to hit way below their league, boosting the perceived value of less attractive girls.

It isn't the fault of men. Or of women. It's simply that our biology has nothing within it for online dating. Online dating screws everything.

I think because women have it pretty easy and they also find it embarrassing to meet someone online so if they’re gonna have that backstory the guy needs to be top tier

since dating is easier for them they try to focus on in person guys , since then it can have their good backstory, and it’s often difficult for most random men to become a part of that unless they cold approach.

Whereas ALL my female friends that do online dating actually read the profile and swipe based on the photos and what is written in the profile. Woman here. And while I don’t speak for all women, I’ll say this:

In general, women aren’t just looking for a “good enough” guy to fuck. If they are looking for sex, they want the guy to be different and exciting. They want it to feel like an adventure. A guy needs to stand out.

Now, this is where I diverge from some people here. To stand out, you don’t need to be the hottest guy. In fact, being another gym-going dude who dresses like everyone else will just make you blend into the pack. Being toned and well-dressed isn’t unattractive to most women, but it’s basic. It’s not going to get them to swipe right.

I would argue that an “average” looking guy who is interesting or unique is going to do better with online dating than a good-looking, bland guy. Everyone has unique characteristics, but you have to be willing to stand out and let those shine.
