It can be a red flag if they’re just using for dinner but dinner alone is not a red flag.

If it's an expensive place propose to split the bill. Judging by her reaction you'll see if she just wants to use you for a free meal or if she's a gf material.

If she reacts as if you're expected to pay the expensive dinner of a person you barely know then that's pretty much a red flag and a bad, gold digger-like attitude from her.

If she mentioned dinner casually its not necessarily a red flag. If you suggesting something else and she insists on dinner that's definitely a red flag.

That being said, coffee or lunch at most. Think of it as a test to be sure she's into you for you and simply wants to spend time with you and nothing else..

These days you run a high risk of being used as a meal ticket. its become the same dynamic as if she let you smash on the first date. You'll get the perception that she's easy. She cod very likely get the same perception for you if you spend $100 on a dinner date your first time meeting her.

She's got options. A lot of guys would take her out for dinner, especially if she's pretty, so she knows she can demand that. If she's in it just for you, a coffee date will be fine.

don't ask if u don't want an answer. u seem to already have a strong opinion on it that people are unable to affect. go if you want to. if u have financial issues and cant pay a meal, say no. women r human and not only after a free meal. personally I think dinner is nice to bond and chat over, as you should on a first date. if the bill is the issue, or trust issues of using you for money, suggest splitting the bill before the date. if she has a problem with it, move on, you dodged a bullet.

dinner dates are the worst because its hard to talk and it ends up being more of interview mode. I would say I can make some bomb ass food at my place see if shes down to come over for drinks and food.. if you get her alone most likly things will be in your favor to get laid

No I don't think it's a red flag. But if they want to go somewhere that's costly or they make a comment about a place that you choose then it's a red flag. And yes there are plenty of girls who just want to go out to have an expensive meal at the cost of not being interested in a guy but still going on the date with him. You pick the place even if it's a little cafe or wing place and if that bothers them then that should tell you something right there

Do ice cream for a first date.

Any sort of sit down meal will be followed with either bloating or a need to sit in the bathroom (or both). And can also get expensive pretty quick. And that's if everything goes smoothly. If the meal gives either of you an upset stomach and/or the liquid squirts, then you'll remember nothing else other than the time that calamari made her throw up or when you had to cut the date short and pass on the bang because you were afraid you were going to shit your pants. And a lot of the time that becomes the only date with that woman.

it stings like a son of a bitch when you're heading back to your or her place and practically KNOW you've got it in the bag... and then you feel that rumbling in your stomach and the countdown starts.

An ice cream date is cheap enough (in most cases, less than $15-$20 for the both of you), and gets her mental hamster associating you with something good.

Going out to dinner with someone is when you're going to find out whether they expect you to pay for everything or whether they'll go dutch.
And no, you don't have to pay. Just know that you're going to screen some girls out If they're looking for a guy who pays for everything. And that's okay.
