personally, as a girl, i would refrain from mentioning their looks, especially upon initially meeting them. whenever a guy approaches me with a comment on how i look, i immediately write him off in my head, thinking they just wanna sleep with me. I’d try and find a compliment on a book they’re reading, their shoes, something that could be perceived less so as transparently superficial. nine times out of ten a girl will know you’re talking to her because she’s pretty anyway, but it’s about the classy approach.

I think the window of texting 2 to 24 hours later is perfectly fine and the timing won't change how likely she was to text you back. If she was interested in you, she would text back regardless of how long you waited within how long she could remember the interaction.

The content of what you talked about in that 15-20 minutes was the important part. I hope you got her interested in you and got her laughing.

If her interest wasn't high enough after she got picked up, then she wont text back.

In the meantime nearly everyone who has commented has either implied or flat out said she probably wasn't really interested. Both females that commented had the impression you bothered her. You even said yourself you can't or didn't elicit a laugh. Why do you think that is?

I'd suggest reviewing some of the advice you rejected and adapting it to your own style instead of rejecting it wholly.

Nicely done and great courage. However.. in the future I don’t think I’d sit around with her for 20 minutes. You don’t really know each other, and it can potentially make some stress or uncomfortableness rather you know it or not. It’s also better to seem like a busy guy with a place to be. Next time you see a good one approach, ask her a question like where is such and such to break the ice, tell her you think she’s cute, try to get a # and move along. I was really scared and nervous but I did it. I got her number and I was really proud of myself. Few days later I called and set up a Friday night date. You can try again in maybe a week or two; not too soon, and this time forget about complimenting her or telling her you want to get to know her; you've already done that. Tell her there's an event you'd like to attend, something public, a trade show maybe, a local group doing something at the mall, a car show, whatever, and maybe she'd like it too. Not a date, or movie, or dinner, nothing like that. Something you'd like to see and know something about. If she doesn't respond don't worry about it; if you still want to try again give it at least a full month, pick a different kind of event and keep the message short. Don't crowd her. Typically I wait at least a day or two. But I think it has more to do with that message u sent her. It’s kind dry in that in that it doesn’t elicit an emotion in her if that makes sense. It should appeal to her emotions but is casual. Something like “hey [name], it’s that cute guy from earlier ;)” or “hey freak (or another funny word to describe her).. how’s your day ;).”
