I'm so upset with the divorce laws in California. I cannot do anything to change it so it does nothing to be angry over it but I can't help it. 20 years married. She never worked. Unless she gets married or gets a job I'll end up paying her Alimony for life. She has a master degree level education and is capable of working. The system is set up to reward the non-working spouse for not seeking employment. After she does the math and realizes she gets more from me in Alimony each month than she could ever earn on her own after taxes. The Spouse that works hard for their partner to stay home is penalized even more than if their partner worked during the marriage. It's been 2 years and now that the divorce is final she is still not looking for a job. There should be something added to the divorce decree that makes her show that she is trying to get a job. She will never work based on how much I have to pay her each month. My life is destroyed financially because of her. The system is set up to reward her for divorcing me. I mean why not. Might as well get a divorce, he has to keep paying me for life and I get to do whatever I want. It's not right.
