I went to my local bouldering gym yesterday, and while I was in the dressing room (alone) two women and one of the women's son walked in. The boy was maybe four years old. The mother's friend starts undressing and the boy makes a remark like "eww, you can't show that!!!" "Is that how you're going to work out?" "You need to wear a bra!"

Neither woman stopped him, they patiently said "yes I am just changing wait up". I was fuming at hearing this! The woman then changes into a sports bra, and the boy says "you're not going like that are you?". He's visibly offended and disgusted. He also made a comment about her tummy. The woman's friend only said "I'm going to put on a shirt don't worry."

The women then paid the boy no mind but I was so irritated that I said "that boy needs some lessons in feminism" and the women meekly assented but in a shrug, boys will by boys type of way. The boy could barely speak in full sentences but he could comment on his mother's friend's looks that way? Aaaaaah!!!! It starts so early you guys.

I do think this boy will grow up in a society that is more vocally against these attitudes (as I'm seeing guys who are now 18 tend to have much healthier attitudes already).. just upsetting that these women let a little boy walk over them, and probably taught them this in the first place.
