So my parents are divorced and I had pushed back at the start of their proceedings for 50-50 custody, and my mom eventually conceded that for a trial period I could spend 50% of my time with my dad. The trial period ended and nothing changed after that, which I was pleased with. I didn't choose this because I prefer one parent over the other, I chose it because it was what seemed fair. Living with my dad isn't always as easy, his cooking is poor, and he works two jobs so he can pay for the divorce settlement, utilities, and my sister's child support.

But today I was in the car with my mom who, out of nowhere, began complaining about the set-up. She complained that she was 'getting screwed' and she only really let the trial period work because she figured either the eventual ruling would make her my primary custodian or that I would just get sick of living with my dad.

How do you handle the women in your life who refuse to see the imbalance and complain when it's not upheld?
