I mean why would men be adviced to not hurt women if it's not punishable? No consequences baby

[–]nutmeg_reborn 25 points26 points27 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Is it me or is the world becoming a lot more dangerous for women than it used to be? I definitely didn't feel this scared ten years ago but perhaps it was because I was younger and more naive.

[–]MuffcakelordFDS Disciple 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nah. We literally invented witch hunts just to kill women with money and property to steal it. We implemented all kinds of rules so that women are unprotected from any justice system. Only difference now from before is men are more frequently turning to terrorism because less women are being killed and tortured in private because of marriage.

In a way that makes the world more dangerous to women than it was perhaps 100 years ago? But the danger has just changed its shape; before it was more about being forced to depend on men and every woman was basically kept hostage. Now, you never know if you'll be the next victim of a femicide terrorist attack.

I've told my mom not to worry about me and that i'll likely die soon or at least early enough for her to live through it just seeing how the odds are atm. It's lucky not to fall victim to a man as a woman in any "fuckable age-group" now, a little more than before. We can blame porn for this as well; men fabtasize about killing us every time they watch average porn.

Over all i'm prepared to, and ok with dying. If i wasn't i would be dying of stress instead

[–]seraph9888 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

there are consequences if you're armed.

[–]MuffcakelordFDS Disciple 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not really. Men torture and kill women unarmed just fine so when they are armed, they usually intend to kill themselves after their rampage. There are no consequences, only results going according to their plan.

[–]Equal-Ear2312FDS Apprentice 67 points68 points69 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

the advice for women is to basically behave as if they're hunted prey that should always expect a rape to happen. protect yourself from rabid wolves - situation.

yeah, instead of putting down all rabid wolves and enclosing and monitoring them or even better, training them not to attack, just wear your protective helmets, whamen! this is a safe community so keep safe!

the mental gymnastics are astounding.

[–]Toot--SweetFDS Newbie 333 points334 points335 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

The male friend who walks you home after the bar closes is more likely to rape you than a man hiding in the bushes.

[–]Equal-Ear2312FDS Apprentice 100 points101 points102 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

if you remember the Sarah Everard from earlier this year (March, I guess), the policeman who raped and murdered her pretended she had to be arrested. so he used his authority to get her handcuffed first. he falsely arrested her in order to do the deed. bbc article here

can you imagine what the advice should include? run from men in police uniforms trying to arrest you... it's the ones that should protect that attack.

[–]missybFDS Newbie 46 points47 points48 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

The govt has now advised us to flag down a bus if we are dubious about a lone police officer.

[–]Betty_BottleFDS Newbie 34 points35 points36 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And refuse handcuffs 🙄

As if someone intent on doing what he did is going to be like "oh okay, sorry."

[–]ElizabethHiems 20 points21 points22 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because that’ll work!! In Manchester they don’t even always stop when you flag them down at a bus stop. Might work here in Wolverhampton though.

[–]MorthaPFDS Newbie 13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

the police, your friend and helper! they might rape you tho so ask a random bus driver for help maybe

At this point, I'm asking why men are allowed out without an escort, given the potential for harm that they represent. They commit more than 80% of all violet crimes. When is enough finally enough before we crack down on this for the right of women to move about freely and without fear?

Edit: This was obviously said tongue in cheek, but the howls from the men indicate that they KNOW that men pose an undue risk to women, and they just don't CARE. They want to be able to go out whenever they want. Oh, really? You want to go out when you want? Well, women do too.

FDS Disciple

I always said they need a fucking curfew.

and men were suddenly very vocal and clamorous when a female politician said that jokingly to expose the hypocrisy!

[–]NovemberinthechairFDS Disciple 28 points29 points30 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They sure were. Then a woman ends up murdered, the story goes online, and suddenly there are all of these comments from men saying it's her fault for getting killed.

[–]purasangriaFDS Disciple 15 points16 points17 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women effectively have a curfew when we have to remain home after dark to avoid being attacked. I demand the right to move about freely and unmolested.

In any other sub, we would be gaslighted by the "notallmen" horde and comments about how men are victims too. Yeah, victims of other men. Sounds like the problem is: MeN.

[–]Big-Respond8481FDS Newbie 27 points28 points29 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ugh. The "notallmen" always sounds like: Not all people have corona virus, so why did everyone have to stay inside? 🤡

Exactly the same logic. I wish there was a vaccine that makes you immune to male violence, though.

[–]purasangriaFDS Disciple 14 points15 points16 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It is all men. All men make all women feel unsafe. ALL MEN.

Don't like it, men, being assumed a danger to women? Then DO SOMETHING about your fellow men.

If men began hunting abusive men vigilante style, would this shit stop? Yes, it would. Men would be afraid to attack women, because they would have to be constantly looking for that vigilante attack over their shoulders. Putting FEAR into men is the only thing that works. Thread of punishment apparently does not work. Fear of bodily harm when they least expect it might.

[–]VmchikRuthless Strategist[S] 165 points166 points167 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Honestly because that would be the logical thing to do at this point. It’s not hard to come to the conclusion that statistically men are sociopathic. They’re even the greatest danger to themselves. Notice how women are rarely large threats to other people percentage wise. It’s always men.

[–]purasangriaFDS Disciple 98 points99 points100 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Exactly. We've seen the lengths to which society is willing to go to respond to the Covid threat, and I think it makes sense to consider our societal responses to other threats as well. Perhaps a nighttime curfew for men is something that should be considered due to the safety risk that men pose?

What else might be done to combat these risks to the safety of others? Men allowed out on certain days, and women on other days? They did that in Panama during Covid, and crime dropped.

[–]extragoudaFDS Newbie 44 points45 points46 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Chastity belts for men.

[–]Equal-Ear2312FDS Apprentice 23 points24 points25 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I am sure that will make the crime drop too. whenever curfews have been in place for covid, crime dropped, especially since bad men relied on the protection of darkness to commit crimes. however, with lockdowns, domestic abuse began rising, because women were practically locked out with their abusive spouses and partners. either way, it shows the affected party is always women.

[–]dinarvand88 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Panama actually set a curfew for men on some days? Wow. Impressive.

[–]purasangriaFDS Disciple 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

During the pandemic, women were allowed to leave home 4 days a week, and men 3 days a week, no socializing between the sexes allowed.

[–]Tiny_Equivalent9214 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Is it only 80%? I’m surprised it’s not more

[–]purasangriaFDS Disciple 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Right? I thought it would be like 95%.

But they probably lying about that too.

[–]andwhenwillitbeginFDS Newbie 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]arnezuaraFDS Apprentice 139 points140 points141 points 4 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link

Men (as a whole) are not to be trusted. Unfortunately so, they have proven, time and time again, that they are dangerous to the well-being of women.

Yet they still screech at how unfair life is to them: it’s just too hard to climb the man-made hierarchy of power; it’s getting harder to abuse/manipulate women into compliance and free labor.

Yet, we see that their blame always finds a woman — they expect us to carry the weight of their misfortunes, addictions, and depravities on our backs. They take their hatred and anger out on us. They add to our traumas, give us children we do not want (to raise with them).

Women were not taught how to quit on men: drop everything and let them perish. It’s a habit that many of us have been told not to develop, as it would significantly lower our market value.

After all, what man wants a dog that he can’t train to obey?

[–]HereForTheFreeFoodOkFDS Newbie 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So men need to start doing the work.

Their misogyny dictates that is up to women to fix their problems that are unique to their gender.

They are incomplete humans because their fathers were absent or poor role models. Yet they blame the mother.

From Pearl Jam's Jeremy. I reference Pearl Jam as it's a classic band loved by millions of men and the lyrics are essentially about male pain. In fact, the entire Pearl Jam catalogue of songs are about men's emotional turmoil around themselves, around each other and around women.

Back to Jeremy

"Daddy didn't give attentionOh, to the fact that mommy didn't care"

The song is about Jeremy's who was a quiet weird kid who gets picked on. The lyrics show his dad gave zero fucks about him - this alienation was extended to his mother. This weird kid in school gets picked on constantly by other boys Suddenly, the weird kid starts fighting back to his male abusers/bullies in his class. How does he fight back? He kills himself in front of the entire class.

The entire song is about boys abusing boys - culminating in a boys suicide.

It's a sad horrible song. But the lesson here is that men/boys don't even have empathy for each other or themselves.

Again - Their misogyny dictates that is up to women to fix their problems that are unique to their gender.

No! Men need to take a stand about the toxic culture they create - from abusive absent minded fathers who neglect the needs of the mother - and these women can't show love to their sons because they are being narcissistically/financially/emotionally abused by their husband, withdrawing into an internal nightmare of mental illness, anguish and alienation. Common denominator? Men failing to be competent humans.

The only way to fix this is that MEN NEED TO FIX THE PROBLEMS INHERENT IN THE CULTURE OF THEIR GENDER.

The manosphere blames women, blames feminism - because they too much of piss weak scardey cat to point the finger at themselves - their own kind for allowing this generational apathy, absenteeism and emotion suffering they inflict upon themselves.

That is why they simp for each other - because it is the only time they have ever received 'support' from a male entity. But this 'support' just feeds their shitty ideas and delusions that men are somehow not responsible for their own pains.

They need to wake up and start doing the work.

[–]throwaway-fdsFDS Newbie 54 points55 points56 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Why would we give advice for men to not harm women? Why would we give them advice on how to do the absolute bare minimum of human decency? I hate when people bring this up and that "teach men not to rape" because it gives men an excuse. It still implies ( to an extent ) that they're just simply poor, uneducated babies who didn't know that it's morally unjust to cause harm to another human being! 🥺 That sounds so fucking dumb. It's not our responsibility that men cannot exercise what is not even the bare minimum.

[–]VmchikRuthless Strategist[S] 42 points43 points44 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

That’s the part that breaks my heart because this victim blaming idea that women can protect themselves is always false. At this point, living without male violence is just luck. There’s no other solution to their depravity because we have to live among them and hope that the men around us with power and access to us aren’t going to harm us one day. What can we really do at this point?

[–]DeterminedblondeFDS Newbie 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Women can’t protect themselves from all harm. We have to accept the dangers…it’s not much of a solution though.

[–]VmchikRuthless Strategist[S] 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

But the problem is that most of these dangers are extremely hard to avoid as well. Many examples of women getting roofied by bar tenders, maintenance men coming in randomly, leasing people using master keys, estranged coworkers with guns, abusive boyfriends or family, you name it. As much as we love to pretend working hard at protecting ourselves is enough, we fail to acknowledge that it only takes one slip up or one man we shouldn’t have trusted to have our lives in danger. I’m all for protecting ourselves but knowing that anyone of us could be in great danger at any moment simply from being women is sobering as hell.

[–]DeterminedblondeFDS Newbie 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah that’s why I’m disappointed by all these things. What are we supposed to do to protect ourselves? Just hope we’re lucky?

[–]VmchikRuthless Strategist[S] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I’m gonna make sure to be as protected as I can be but won’t blame myself if a perpetrator breaks through. The problem is men, and unfortunately they’ll always be in our lives.

[–]cakewalkofshameFDS Newbie 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I hate the "teach men not to rape" thing as well. Children, sure, but what about the grown adult men that are terrorizing women right now? They know it's wrong, they just do not care about the women they victimize. You can't "teach" empathy to this brutes like they are just some Tarzan creature who merely needs to hear of the concept in order to internalize it.

[–]HiILikePlants 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

  1. See women as human beings 2. Be capable of empathy for fellow human beings

Idk how to fix those

[–]purasangriaFDS Disciple 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

For those who are saying, "this just punishes all men for the actions of a few," think about this: All women are afraid because of the actions of a few men.

You need to come up with better reasoning, men. Women should be able to go about their lives without living in fear of male attack. This is a male problem. You need to figure it out.

[–]rinabeanFDS Apprentice 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I get the rage at the unfairness, it is unfair, but I don't like the way it's always framed.

There is no such thing as a man who rapes because he doesn't know it's wrong. This whole "educate men" thing is such a dangerous idea. A man who rapes you is not some kind of co-victim of a society that never told him it was, to start with, illegal... Men are out there warning each other about how to get away with rape. They don't need advice. They need consequences!

It's also dangerous to fixate on strange men doing less harm to us than known men. That's because we strive to be safe around strange men because they are more harmful. The advice we hate, because it's such an imposition, and because we get judged if we skip a step and that's the day a man makes the choice to hurt us? Well, it works pretty well. (I don't know if smiling is actually protective, though... it's infuriating that we have to consider all this nonsense and walk all these lines, absolutely.)

I know it's not the intention but it would be easy for a woman to look at this screenshot and this title and come away with the conclusion: "Okay, so I might as well get blind drunk around strange men, because avoiding it won't save me." I literally was once part of a feminist group where women were saying that because women's male partners and ex-partners do the most violence to us, that it's safer for women to sleep around with men than to have a male partner! Including that you should go to their homes, because you're most likely to be hurt by a man you invited into your home! No matter how good the motivation, it's easy to see who benefits.

[–]VmchikRuthless Strategist[S] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I totally get what you’re saying and agree. I don’t think we should come out of this with a defeatist mindset that says we shouldn’t protect ourselves at all. I just think this idea that it’s always possible to avoid violence is wrong. Living as a woman is accepting that at some point in your life you will be subject to male violence. A woman who doesn’t isn’t necessarily better at protecting herself, just lucky.

I think it’s important to highlight that strangers are just as dangerous as men we trust because a lot of women think the men in their lives would never harm them. I also don’t care to change men that do harm but more so challenge the cultural idea that it’s the victims problem rather than looking at the systemic issues causing it.

Focusing so much on mitigating takes away from the opportunity to truly look at what the problem is and tackle it. This stance of women protecting themselves is exactly the same as people telling black people that complying with police officers is enough to avoid police violence. This is obviously not true statistically and it also serves to distract us from the fact that the police institution was created specifically to subjugate POC and the lower class. Destroying it and rebuilding it would be a better move than forever finding ways to be on the defense.

I would rather focus on the problem that is men and finding ways to destroy systemic misogyny because let’s be honest, at this point it is systemic and purposeful. They want us to be constantly vigilant and in distress. They need men who do harm to face little to no consequences so the bar is lower than hell and to make us feel grateful to be alive.

It’s a hard problem to deal with because it’s so complex, but I’m so tired of seeing women having to become more and more vigilant because men keep finding ways to bypass our safety measures. For every effective method of safety there is one man working to find a cheat code. It’s honestly all just lose-lose for women at this point. We just have to hope we’re not the victim of violence while using as many preventative measures as possible.

Be nice. Smile.

Also - don't be nice or smile - or your boyfriend will get jealous and kill you. A had a guy once who couldn't even take it if I spoke to a cab driver. He was constantly telling me I was too nice.

Adding to the list of how to make yourself safe from attack.

Get yourself a lovely big german shepherd. I take my baby for walks after dark, mainly on the back tracks so we don't run into many people. When we do, they avoid us.

I was walking on the footpath one night and a guy ahead, turned towards me and crossed the road to approach me. Sigh. My dog is reactive, so I step off the path, behind a tree into the dark and wait for the guy to go past on the path. Waiting, waiting. Where is he? I step back onto the path and into the light and the dude is now running away from me. God knows what he thought, but I assume from his flight, it was not nice. Projecting?? He had bad intentions, so assumed I did too?

Women are victims. What’s wrong with acknowledging that? Having a gun also won’t help much if you shoot someone and are sentenced 25+ years for manslaughter. Having every safety precaution in place can definitely help protect you but it isn’t full proof. And this post isn’t advocating for women to stop being vigilant. It’s a discourse on how fucked up it is to be a woman.

Fact: more than half of women’s prison populations is abuse victims that retaliated against their abusers/attackers. Get as many guns as you would like but don’t expect the state to protect you once that bullet is lodged in a perpetrator.
