Working your ass off is no guarantee you'll get anywhere. The biggest indication for what social class you end up in is the one you're born in.

All of us, men and women, do what we can with the cards we've given. Sometimes, this leads to poor outcomes despite doing everything you're supposed to do. It's possible to make no mistakes and still lose because of unexpected curveballs or merely having too many strikes against you at birth.

I'm surrounded by doctors and lawyers and most of them have never talked with a 10/10 woman.

Yeah that’s not true at all. If you look at statistics the men who are most sexually active are typically dumb and criminal. Meanwhile something like 30% of MIT male graduates are virgins.

So being smart, ambitious and following the rules means you have lower odds of procreating.

As for getting to the very very top of whatever organization you’re talking about of course being smart and ambitious helps.

I've heard it said that anyone struggling in dating will just focus on what they don't have.

Like if you're poor, then all women care about is money. If you're a little bit odd looking, all women care about is looks. If you're shy, all women care about is social skills. If you're short, all women care about is height.

I don't think those assessments are truly wrong. Honestly, I think that it just comes down to everyone cares about everything. We filter potential mates out based on a long list of criteria. The list of criteria that women have might be a bit longer than men's, but there is a LOT of filtering going on.

The men that you're describing who have countless 10/10 options would be those that have it "all".

LMAO no. I have multiple elite degrees, am average height (5'10) earn in the top 1% for my age and have interesting hobbies and still have to work extremely hard to get anything. It's not like I don't have any free time either...

I don't drink but as we've been told women care about the big picture etc. so given all the other things I have they should be able to see my value when sober but somehow most of the interest I get is on social occasions when the women have all had a few glasses to drink...

If we’re talking about leveling up your income or SES, it might land you in a “higher” social strata to date within but if you have to work your ass off to get there and are stressed and had no fun in life I’m not sure if it’ll meaningfully benefit your dating life.

For one, dating scene isn’t designed for anyone, but that’s semantics.

More specifically, as a moderately wealthy, moderately ambitious, and mildly intelligent man, I still don’t feel that I have the pick of the litter. Maybe I’m not as awesome as I believe myself to be. But my salary is in the top 2-3% of household incomes, I’m smart enough to be entrusted to practice medicine, and ambitious enough to have landed a solid partner track in my group.

Sure, anecdotes aren’t as valid as data, but where I put in some 10-20hrs/wk towards swiping/writing messages/etc and will average 1-2 matches/wk that translate to 1-2 first dates/month, I know a couple of guys who invest similar amounts of time but average 10-20 matches/wk and 2-7 first dates/wk. From a wealth/income/education/etc standpoint, I dwarf them. But they’re both about 6-8” taller than I am, are both Caucasian, and have about 50-60lbs of extra muscle compared to me. We’re all running around 15% body fat.

These experiences inform me that dating/sex/relationships nowadays is so much more looks driven than anything else.

Ambition won't make you popular by itself, ambition won't make you rich, ambition won't make you good looking. Women aren't looking for someone that wants to be any of those, they're looking for someone that is as many of those as possible. And ambition is only a very tiny factor in making anyone rich/famous enough, this is why I dislike redpillers. Yeah there's a net benefit to improving yourself but there is no way any man can reach the top or anywhere near with effort, most can't. This is what happens when you listen to dating coaches that are only able to get lays due to using your money, of course you'll say: "Life is easy as a man" if you earn 100k selling that same bullshit to idiots online tat increase your status and wealth while pursuing an unrealistic goal.

Working your ass of in the gym to become far better than average can pay off for a lot of guys. Working your ass off to propel a career or business will only pay off if you're phenomenally successful. For most guys being a bit better than average money-wise doesn't mean shit in the romantic marketplace.
