Haines said men have "always enjoyed" those "same freedoms" without ever having to "earn" them through amendments to the Constitution.

Women argued against the right to vote, because they were scared it was going to come with the responsibilities that men had, selective service etc.
That they ended up getting the rights of being able to vote, without the responsibilities that come with it is incredibly privileged. Unlike men, women do not need to earn the right to vote.

[–]Suspicious-Sleep5227 136 points137 points138 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Agree. Men actually earned it by the blood spilt in over 200 years of war. That argument is just as stupid as Hilary Clinton’s argument that women are the primary victims of war. Some feminist have their heads too far up their ideological asses so be able to see the truth.

[–]lethrowaway4me 85 points86 points87 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women are the only ones who have the right to vote. Men have a transaction. We have to agree to surrender our lives for the country if the gov't wants us to in exchange for the same thing women are just given outright.

[–]Valuable_Following_2 22 points23 points24 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Men literally had to die to get the vote, while women complained until enough men got tired of it and gave it to them. And even then, men technically don't have the right to vote since they have to sign up for selective service, unlike women. Voting for women is an unearned privilege. Probably gonna get called sexist for this, but idc. It's the truth.

Feminists and their "woke" allies just mean "Men", but since they ignore Asian men, think Hispanic men are uneducated laborers, and are trying imprison Black men, the Feminists feel the need to be specific.

This. Do not let them divide us.

I’d rather us disagree amongst ourselves after we’ve solved these gender relations issues.

[–]mynameistae666 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

Wouldn't be much disagreeing going on men in general don't have an issue getting along and for the most part ultimately we all want the same things for our communities that first starts with taking back our position from these women who are raising the men who end up causing majority of the problems

[+]Zubecci -15 points-14 points-13 points 4 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

What do you think war is? Men suck at getting along.

[–]mynameistae666 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

War doesnt just happen because men can't get along. And most regular men aren't causing wars it's a selected few the men who end up dying and fighting in these wars are also just regular men.

Yeah it’s not like Mary queen of Scots, Catherine the Great, Golda Meir, Margaret Thatcher, Catherine de Medici, Queen Elizabeth I, Queen Isabella etc NEVER waged wars and sent the poor to die over squabbles.

[–]Valuable_Following_2 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Far more women leaders have sent men and even boys to fight each other in wars. Not to mention, the white feather was a thing. Women/feminists were shaming men and boys into fighting in WW1 by handing them the white feather. Maybe get your facts straight before simping for your angels who never do anything wrong in your eyes.

[–]Valuable_Following_2 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yes, cause women are TOTALLY well known for getting along with men and other women. Women leaders are actually 27% more likely to start wars than men leaders, male feminist simp - https://t.co/awlVPwdN02

Women get in catfights over wearing the same outfit and female only workplaces have shut down because they couldn't get along with each other. Meanwhile, it's the opposite with men. Seems like men are the ones who can get along with people of the same sex as them. Not women. But keep telling yourself that, simp.

  1. White men have no special power over the law or constitution. Governments pass laws, not white men. The Supreme Court rules on constitutional issues, not white men. As a white man, I have no more say in matters of law than a black woman.

  2. The 15th and 19th amendments make it illegal to deny anyone the right to vote based on their race or sex. There is absolutely no push to overturn these amendments. These voting protections are not threatened. It’s agenda driven scare mongering to claim otherwise.

Gender representation and political representation are different things that feminists conflate, and a politician being of a certain sex doesn’t mean that sex has control.

I voted for a female governor who won. She is my elected political representative even though she has another sex. The fact my state has a female governor doesn’t mean women have power of rule. Men and women as sexes have the same legal authority regardless of the sex of the politicians they elect to represent them.

If my governor signs a policy I don’t agree with, it’s her, it’s not the female sex that is signing the legislation.

[–]deathzero021 46 points47 points48 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Even if it were 100%, it would still make no difference to the average working class white man. They own us, a poor white man can't just run for office and be welcomed in, there is a class system in place. Our political class has a lot of history and wealth that ties them to political positions.

Additionally, even if congress became 90% female, do you think the feminists would stop there? They are not motivated by a desire for equality or fairness like some claim, they are motivated by hate, envy and insecurity.

[–]la_1099 15 points16 points17 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It doesn’t matter bc radical groups such as feminism and political in general today are all about tribalism. They see the white men in congress and the poor working class white men on the same team. Like your second point said, it’s not about equality or morality but their ‘team’ winning.

It's not coincidence. Men and women are different in many ways, and those differences get magnified at extreme ends of the spectrum. Most men don't want to run for a high office, and neither do most women. On average, men have a bit more desire then women, and this means that on the extreme end, you'll find more men.

[–]TraehNoil 109 points110 points111 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Didn’t “white men” basically give them the right to vote over 100 years ago? God damn white devils, making others equal!

White people oppressed them and stopped them from representation for centuries but no one ever says 'thank you' for when they stopped doing it.

My great grandfather let all his slaves go free when Lincoln forced him to and not one of them wrote a thank you letter. Tasteless if you ask me.

95% of the population was not represented until two centuries ago. Gender and race has little to do with it.

White men or a specific elite group of white men who oppressed literally everyone else? Seems to me that the vast majority of men were in those gutters along with women.

Also during those marches for womens suffrage almost half of them marching were white men.

When a group labels another as a threat to their cause, it's because they are afraid of free speech and democratic voting which does not allow them the control they desire.

Basically, they are not getting what they want, and are blaming others for it.

The biggest threat to everyone is the removal of the democratic voting process.

[–]WeEatBabies 53 points54 points55 points 4 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

False, we are the biggest enabler of women's security and prosperity.

We are demanding equal rights and gender neutral approach to domestic violence and suddenly we are a threat?! To their status quo?? What's a feminist to do for money if she can't falsely accuse of domestic violence and take the kids? Work????

Women have been used to special privileges, so equality feels like oppression to them.

Openly racist and sexist. Women are the majority and politicians vote along the lines of their constituents. Women are elected just as easily as men but don't run. Maybe we need a more family friendly government giving leave for pregnancy and having child care available to entice more women to run for office.

[–]63daddy 46 points47 points48 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yep. Government has passed many pro-female pieces of legislation. It’s ridiculous to argue government is anti-female.

They don't mention that white men take the vast majority of the responsibilities of society. like working, going to war etc. All they have to do is sit in a luxurious tv set getting paid millions for something that a child can do.

Change that just "men" and I will agree with you.

[–]ThicColt 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (21 children) | Copy Link

Couple corrections: not white men, just men.

Also, saying all women can make their living with no effort is a massive generalization. Some can, most can't

If we want to have any ground in standing up for our rights, we need to make sure to only provide arguments that a) are factually correct b) don't offend people unnecessarily

[–]la_1099 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[–]ThicColt 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

I didn't say it's good they can do that

I just said there is a place in society for them. We can accommodate a certain amount of them in our society, like any other job

[–]kwainot 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

But like all people in easy well paid cushy jobs they rely on people behind the scenes making everything happen on a technical basis and that is predominantly men.

[–]ThicColt 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

How is that relevant to the conversation? The only point I was arguing was that it's not something all women can do, and if you can't sewm to form a single argument against that point, this conversation is over ig

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

and when was the last time that you went to war?

Just because most men today are lucky not to have fought in wars, it doesn't diminish the argument that every time there is a war, it will be mostly men that are forced to fight.

[–]Azihayya 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Here's the issue with this:

The only-men draft is absolutely a men's rights issue. That's where the issue ends as an issue of rights.

The fact is that it has been men who are sending men to die in wars, for th longest time--but here we are projecting this absolutely non-empirical and totally biased idea that only women are trying to send men into war, that only women think that it's a man's role to fight and die in war, and that women themselves don't want to fight in war. I imagine that if there wasn't such a prevalence of rape happening to female soldiers and getting swept under the rug, that women would absolutely feel encouraged to join the military--but here's the next thing: when we talk about women performing in roles of power, like the police and the military, that's when the MRA community goes ballistic and starts talking about how only men are equipped to handle those jobs.

You all sit on issues like this like it's a pillow ring for your hemorrhoids--but just to prop yourself up to spew irrational bullshit. If you actually cared about the issue, you would focus on that; what's the problem? It's the male-exclusive draft--but that's not enough for you.

[–]throwaway202108216 points 4 years ago [recovered] (4 children) | Copy Link

The fact is that it has been men who are sending men to die in war

Today in countries like Ukraine where men are being sent to die in war, there are both men and women that hold office that sign off on this decision.

Today, there are women voters that do not have to sign up for military conscription but can vote on whether to send other men to war.

Today, women can hold office despite not having to sign up for the draft, and but can vote on wars that result in men being drafted into them.

Men and women both cheer on war during war time, it's not only men that do it. There are women in positions of power and influence that force men to keep fighting.

A recent example is:

Member of the Verkhovna Rada in Volodymyr Zelensky's "Servant of the People" party Maryana Bezuglaya, a woman, who introduced a bill proposing to allow Ukrainian officers to kill conscripted male soldiers who arbitrarily left their positions or refused to obey orders.

https://archive.ph/oojxK

A member of the Verkhovna Rada and Volodymyr Zelensky’s Servant of the People party, Maryana Bezuglaya, has introduced a bill proposing to allow Ukrainian officers to kill soldiers who arbitrarily leave their positions or refuse to obey orders. The bill is in the database of the Rada. Changes are proposed to be made to the statute of the internal service of the armed forces of Ukraine on ensuring the possibility of stopping criminal offenses in the conditions of a special period. The current version of the document states that "in a combat situation, the commander (chief) may use a weapon or give an order to his subordinates to use it, if it is impossible to stop a criminal offense in another way, while not causing death to a soldier."The draft proposes to exclude from the document the last part of the phrase - "while not causing death to a serviceman."

https://archive.ph/V4cYi

Another example is:

a woman human rights chief in Ukraine that perpetuated the false idea of 'systematic rape' by russian soldiers as an incentive to keep men fighting

https://archive.ph/uoM7p

Stop pretending that women play no part in sending men to fight in wars. They absolutely do.

My response was "fuck off".

It's amazing that a bunch of people have gone full circle from "racism and sexism, assigning people to groups and judging those individuals based on traits of a group, people not from those groups assign, IS BAD"
To "Yolo fuck everyone not like me and they are all evil and all a problem leeeets gooo racism and sexism!"

Sticking to their argument that women are the majority, then if they want majority of Senate then perhaps they can represent other sectors where women are also the minority, as in the army and battlefid.

Fact: men are the minority, yet make up pretty much all military casualties at war, make up over 75% of murder victims, majority of workplace injuries, the bulk of homeless population, most suicides, etc.

When the time comes, men step up to protect women and children, even if it costs them their lives. And at the risk of sounding sexist, men don't need women to really do anything for them. Men can cook, clean, raise kids, and do pretty much do anything that a woman can do all by thrmselves, and sometimes they're even better at it.

If they want to claim equality then they need to accept equality, the good and the bad.

This is frustrating because people will believe this and there was zero facts about how "white men" are blocking her right to vote. It just becomes opinion when there is no facts within the conversation.

Also, she acts very entitled. She feels like she has some responsibility as if she was a part of the 19th amendment passing, and acts like the white men of today's society are the ones that oppressed her (she was not alive during those times) in the early 1900s.

This is why anytime someone regardless of their "group" says well "50 years ago we were segregated, or didn't have the right to vote" it bothers me. Yes that was a problem back then, but the only things we can do is make things equal for our time moving forward. What can we do moving forward? Make things more equal for all. So until facts are brought up, it's all just noise from people who want to feel like a victim.

How about calling it what it is, which is a legal contract between 2 consenting adults. I’m not all into the lgbtq stuff, but your post sounds very much like you want women at home pregnant barefoot and all that instead of having the ability to earn their own way in life outside of marriage and children, if that is what they choose for themselves.

[–]FreeAndHostile 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

See, that's not the thing, though. Marriage was solely defined as the union between a man and a woman. Period. It's like saying, "well, it's an archaic thing to consider day and night defined by the sun rising and setting... What if I work nights and sleep during days, shouldn't that entitle me to refer to days as night, and vice-versa?"

During the 90's, the LG communities said.... "we should also have that right!" which they did all along. A woman could always marry a man. A man could always marry a woman. THAT is marriage. Straight men could not marry another man, and straight women could not marry a woman. The law was equal. The LG community wasn't satisfied with this, because they said they could not realize the legal benefits of unions. In turn, the government created "civil unions" to address it. They now had all the legal benefits of a marriage (and marriage is still the union of a man and woman to me. We have words for a reason). But that should have satisfied all demands. The fact that it didn't, should tell you everything you need to know. The pushing for the change in definition was never about social acceptance. They already had that. It was never about equality. They already had that as well. It wasn't about legal differences. They had that as well. So, what has the intense push been about for the last 20 years?

[–]NoAudience8137 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I agree with most of what you say, but marriage is adopted from religious meanings. Why would we accept a government who accepts a religious meaning of the word, one which discriminates against a sizable population of our society? It was decided correctly that this discriminatory application went against other sex/gender protections. We need to have a government who can create fair, nondiscriminatory laws that do treat everyone equally and don’t base laws around gender when it’s not relevant.

[–]FreeAndHostile 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But that's the thing... We did. Civil unions solved everything, but it wasn't enough for some reason. There was no discrimination. It was just a new legally-recognized thing, equal to marriage. So, what didn't civil unions solve for?

[–]plainwalk -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Biblically, marriage was defined as a contract of sale between two men, where a man could own as many wives as he could afford.

Mormons defined it that way until very recently, and some still do. Other cultures still do.

You are cherry-picking the definition you want, when gay marriage doesn't affect you in the slightest. Don't want to marry someone of your gender? You don't have to.

[–]FreeAndHostile 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I wasn't talking about biblical definitions. I was talking about legal definitions. No cherry-picking involved. Again I will ask, if civil unions didn't resolve the legality, what didn't it solve for? Why wasn't that enough?

[–]plainwalk 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Seperate but "equal" has never been equal. Likewise, laws change. That's kind of what we're here for. Changing laws so they apply equally to men and women.

Edit: specific instance of civil union not being equal- gay men being denied access to their spouse in care because they aren't married and "policy states" only someone married to the patient is allowed in.

Peoples have always had various rights recognized in civilizations. But in all of history, isn't it one particular skin color and gender who put equality down as law? And specifically included women?

And we're always pretty quick to point out those surface qualities don't matter.

I really wonder if this particular trait combo is under attack from them because it gave common people freedom.

Never mind that more women are set to vote to overturn Roe v Wade than voted for it, or that support for abortion rights has pretty much everything to do with political alignment and nothing to do with a person's gender. In fact, if I recall correctly, the percentage of men in the US who consider themselves conservative is higher than the percentage of men who are against abortion, which suggests that conservative men are more open-minded on the issue than their female conservative counterparts.

I don't have any insight into the racial component of the claim.

Feminists are the biggest threat to women's freedom

2nd wave, "right to work:" no more days spent at home taking care of the kids (only when not in school). Nope, full time employment, stress, and everything the men get from it.

3rd wave, sexual "freedom": now men dont even have to commit, shes giving it away for free. Second half of 3rd wave, "the pill": now they dont even have to raise a family with her to get their jollies.

4th wave, "#mealso" (edited cuz bots): now women are revealing themsekves at a record rate as falsifying accusations to get what they want.

Every wave gives women less freedom

A slight majority of pro-lifers are women. A lot of the recent abortion restrictions were pushed by women legislators and women voters. Women are as likely to win office as men, if they run. They don't run nearly as often. Should we force women into politics?

[+]OneThroughSeven17 -50 points-49 points-48 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

The abortion decision is being made by the Supreme Court. Out of 114 Supreme Court members in history, 108 were white men.

[–]duhhhh 34 points35 points36 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Roe v Wade was decided by who? Do you disagree with them?

The decision is most likely going to turn it into a states rights issue.

  • The Alabama law was written and sponsored by Terri Collins. Her first attempt at the legislation failed.

  • The Alabama law was signed by Governor Kay Ivey without a vetoproof majority.

  • According to PEW, 58% of Alabama adults wanted abortion illegal in all or most cases - 49% of them were men and 51% of them were women.

Yes, the majority of the legislators that voted for it were white men. They were representing their constituents wishes. Women are as likely to get elected if they run for office, but are half as likely to run. Should we violate their bodily autonomy and force them to run? What if they are pro-life women like Collins or Ivey?

  • The Texas House bill was initially sponsored by Shelby Slawson.

  • According to PEW, 50% of Texas adults wanted abortion illegal in all or most cases - 48% of them were men and 52% of them were women.

Abortion isn't a gendered issue.

Do you have any idea what reproductive rights male legislators have given males? None. Even raped boys owe the women 2-3x their age that molested them and were convicted for the act of conception child support.

TL;DR - Knock off the sexist narrative and learn the facts.

[+]OneThroughSeven17 -43 points-42 points-41 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Abortion isn't a gendered issue? How many men will be forced to carry a baby to term if abortion laws change? My guess is 0.

Every state has at least 65 percent men in politics. They will have to be the ones that decide what women can do with their bodies.

It's like letting women decide whether circumcision is legal. And everyone knows that's dumb.

You may come to the conclusion it is primarily rural religious Republicans of both sexes against terminating human life at any stage of development instead of thinking it is all about white men controlling women then. That may tend to require a nuanced discussion rather than misandry. Promoting misandry is easier and more socially acceptable.

[+]OneThroughSeven17 -6 points-5 points-4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

? Women voted them in. How do you want to blame men for it.

Who voted them in? Mostly women. There you go. Plus there are pro life women and pro choice men in the government.

And this doesn't mean much since now it would be on state on state basis. If you don't like it move elsewhere. It might finally help America since you are two party system just split.

Almost half of pro-abortionists are men and almost half of pro-lifers are women. Not very one sided like you and other idiots like you make it seem. If women don't wanna get pregnant than they can either not have sex, have protected sex, avoid sleeping around every night, etc. Only 0.1-2% of abortions are due to rape, incest, etc.

Meanwhile, men and boys are literally forced to pay child support to women who have raped them, yet people like you are bitching that women might not be able to kill babies as a hobby anymore.

Looks like the numbers have swung off the long term historical averages in the last two years. Here are the historical numbers for people who support abortion in some but not all circumstances (e.g. widely available in first two trimesters but not in 3rd trimester without medical need) for recent years. It is pretty equal with the split being only a few percent on either side. (Note: Men are the green line which is usually showing more support.)

Pew reported that in both Alabama and Texas, women were the majority of pro-life voters when the restrictions there passed.
