Women are still coddled in our society (United States). They are also very much a protected class. I have the same experiences as you, probably more so because I'm 51 years old. Women are in a perpetual state of childhood in certain respects. But so are men in other respects.

I could spout tons of statistics like the fact that men get sentenced to 63% more prison time for the exact same crime that a woman does. That's obviously not fair. And it shows that we still handle women with kid gloves.

I think it's an ingrained survival mechanism from when their lives depended on staying in a group's good graces. It manifests itself no matter how trivial the matter is. Whether she murdered someone or just forgot to do the dishes, there will always be an effort made to obscure/modify the chain of events in order to mitigate her accountability.

Preserving their social status is always paramount to admission of fault.

It's not so much that men are the more logical gender. It's that we're the more accountable gender. "Sorry, I fucked up, won't happen again." is easy for us to say. It's one of the hardest things in the world for women to say without some kind of "but you're also at fault" addendum.

everyone avoids it for the same reason. when you admit fault you face consequences, especially if it's something major.

you probably haven't had to confront your make friends about anything as major as cheating or lying about something important.

You see more women with problems owning up to shit, because in the class "assholes in a relationship ", women and men act differently even though they are of the same class of asshole.

Women assholes in a relationship, do things you say. They deflect or cry as a way to avoid responsibility.

Male assholes in a relationship don't cry or deflect, but this doesn't mean that they own up responsibility. They admit their faults and then do it again and apologize and do it again and etc.

While if you can get the female asshole to admit fault, which to be fair...unbelievably hard, they will try to change and adress that behavior.

And that's why there's a difference. The women assholes don't want to change and see having to change as part of taking up responsibility. The male assholes belief that admitting and changing are 2 things.

Women don’t like to admit that they made mistakes in relationships because they think it would devalue them for future relationships because that’s how they tend to judge men.

Men are fine with admitting fault because they don’t think it will devalue them for future relationships because that’s how they tend to judge women.

Accountability is kryptonite to women.

Hypoagency is a real thing.

If a woman does a bad thing, it's never her fault. It's because she's been conditioned by society to make this bad decision, so we as society are responsible for saving her from her bad decision.

If a man makes a bad decision, well, that was his decision and his alone. Men are apparently immune to social conditioning and they need to live with their decisions.

I believe this is why men commit suicide more. Every step of their lives, it has been hammered into their heads that there is no help for them. They are utterly on their own.

Women attempt suicide because they've been conditioned to get extra help whenever they need it. So popping a few pills then texting your bestie to "say goodbye" is just another cry for help that she knows will be answered.

Humans suck at admitting they are wrong. It is just the nature of it.

I tend to think young people are worse at admitting fault but I'm old and still hate admitting I'm wrong. Ugh.

No I have no problems seeing my part of accountability in problems/failures. I have made a ton of mistakes.

Women are generally more indirect at expressing their needs, and more annoyed when forced to do so directly. If you really force them to express their needs, they might finally do it, but it will be at the cost of resentment.

When women are willing to admit to this, they’ll say it’s because they fear for their safety, or cultural expectations force them to be deferential. So of course they HAVE to do it.

When they aren’t willing to admit this, they try to claim that men and women avoid responsibility equally. So of course they NEVER do it.

It depends whatever argument is more convenient at the time. It can’t be both, but by god they’ll try to have both. You can already see the split in this thread.

You will probably get a wide variety of answers here. Some will say women always do this. Some will say they rarely do. Some will say men do this more often. Some will say it's an even mix.

The fact is the behavior you're describing is something people of both genders are capable of doing. They will both do it sometimes. Your perception of how often will depend on your environment, your experiences, your age, the type of women you seek, the type of men you seek, the type of relationships you seek and that you have had. And probably a dozen other factors.

I'd encourage you to try to break the behavior you're describing down into concrete habits or traits, and then seek scientific data on the subject. Anecdotal data that comes with zero qualifiers about who, when, where, and how people have learned the information they're giving you is useless here. You need to establish the facts of the question and back it up with actual evidence first.

Ime 95% of getting anyone of either sex to "own up to things" is learning how to communicate grievances effectively.

It's like there's a matrix where communicating in the way that feels correct (e.g. yelling, insults, nagging) is diametrically opposed to communicating in a way that produces the desired result (e.g. an apology, reparations, ownership, whatever). This is especially relevant when communicating with the opposite sex. Ime if getting people to admit they've fucked up is a recurring problem for you there's a good chance you're in the wrong sector of the matrix. You can think that it's total bullshit that you have to play these types of games in order to get people to admit they're assholes, but then again the world doesn't revolve around what you think.

Women are coddled to death in our society now and as any child is coddled they become entitled. The only way to deal with a child is treat them as such and give them hard fast rules to straiten them out or an ultimatum to smarten up or leave. Works very well for weeding out the losers and the winners.

In my experience it is dependent on the state of the relationship.

If my wife is angry about something and then proceeds with some very insulting and disrespectful behavior then "she's justifed".

I do something by omission or commission and I'm called out I'll admit fault. But, forgiveness is never going to be lasting. It goes into the past offense bank. This make tell my wife about any problem or mistake on my end a choice of near term or long term disrespect.

Not all women are like this in my experience. I think some women got raised as second class to brothers or men and this leaves a deep resentment. I don't see this I'm women raised on an equal footing and responsibility with men.

Historically women have had to rely on social navigation and manipulation more (for survival) so most have been raised to be more obsessed with it.

I’ve noticed when I confront my gf or past girls about serious issues in the relationship they always deflect or cry. These are issues regarding lying, cheating or lack of communication. When I confront my guy friends general they say something like “ I fked up or sorry man” but I’ve never had girl do that. They either turn the situation around on me or deflect making up excuses.

You are not dating romantically or fucking your guy friends, so they feel like there’s less stakes and consequences to admitting their faults to you.

My girl cousins explained to me how younger girls generally aren’t used to criticism and conflict the way guys are, Therefore will try to avoid it. Is this true?

No. “criticism and conflict” hits us at the same rates, but in some instances that “criticism and conflict” takes different surface-level forms based on gender.
