I think a good portion of us might be libertarian. It also seems to me that most MRAs I've come across seem to be a bit on the conservative side.

I don't have any hard data to back it up though.

Men's rights is an inherently progressive idea. However, it's always been bound up in a power struggle with feminism, which is the much more popular flavor of gender progressivism. Out of an "enemy of my enemy" dynamic, this has made uncomfortable bedfellows of MRAs with overtly regressive, right-wing groups like The Red Pill and emulsified those groups to a degree. This is pretty much a vicious cycle; lefties hate MRAs because they're conservative, this pushes MRAs further right, which lefties cite as proof of their point.

I think a lot of mainstream MRAs are pretty conservative at this point, which I think is a huge failure of the left.

Mens issues have nothing to do with political affiliation, and can only be seen as 'reactionary' towards feminism in so far as feminism enforces male gender roles, and fights for things like tender years, no fault divorce, alimony, child support, etc...

All of which are unobjectionably sexist and oppress men.

I think a lot of them are libertarian, with conservative leanings. I'm centre-left and often butt heads with these types.

İve seen some polls asked in the main mens rights subreddit and they showed that 2/3 of the r/mensrights subreddit is progressive and 1/3 is conservative. İ would say there are more mra's in the progressive side than there are mra's in the conservative side.

I'm not really sure why you seem to be suggesting that "a result of the womens' movement" must necessarily equal "right-wing". You didn't give much detail, but as you contrasted it against MRAs who seem left-wing, I'm assuming that's your point.

In which case, I would say that you don't have to be any wing to oppose the extremes of, or problematic impacts of, the present-day feminist messaging or movement. I don't think "MRA" or "anti-feminist" or what-have-you necessarily correlates with "right-wing" or "sexist" or "misogynist".

Political party affiliation really doesn't, and can't, tell the whole story. Some call themselves left or right-wing because they despise what the opposite is doing, more than they actually identify with their chosen label or affiliation. In some countries, both wings endorse the feminist messaging, superficially or otherwise, because it's politically convenient to do so, or because of lobbying.

So in answer to your title question: I don't know. A mixture. Some left, some centre, some right, all for different reasons. Some of them might be more aggressive than some of the rest of us would like. Some might hold traditional views that we're not entirely keen on. But that's in the details, and not easily represented by a party flag or leftness or rightness.

I made a list of things which I found to be important as a man and went through the political parties in Sweden to find what to vote for. None of the political parties had these things mentioned in their lists except the very far right ultra fascists lol. If I’m a rational voter that’s what I would end up voting for.

I have seen both conservatives and liberals on MRAs come together on many issues facing men. I think that is another reason why MRAs are vilified and attacked because it threatens those who financially and politically profit off division in this country.

Only one party is advocating for the gender-neutral draft. The democrats.

Only one party is advocating for the ERA which would radically improve family courts, male reproductive rights (e.g. surrogacy contracts), title IX, and would also end the draft. The democrats.

I think actually the "common wisdom" is wrong about how angry white men are what's pushing right wing politics. It's older white women who make up a disproportionately large chunk of the voting population (since there are fewer men, less are eligible to vote, and less of eligible men vote). This massive voting group tend to vote right wing and they do so to preserve their privilege not to create equality for men.

The majority of MRAs are certainly not Leftist by any means and the communist boogeyman is a regular staple in their lexicon.

The typical MRA or Manosphere member is either a libertarian Capitalist (yuck), a tradition conservative/paleo conservative, or a social democrat with conservative social views. Perhaps there is room for "classical liberals" but that's just a libertarian Capitalist with extra steps.

Personally, I'm a centrist Marxist.

In my experience most MRA’s are Libertarians/An-Cap’s. They tend to be fairly liberal socially (While also being anti-“woke”) but very far to the right on economics.

I’m a rarity in that I’m a bit more conservative culturally (I’m also anti-“woke”, although I detest hardcore anti-wokists), but am center-left on economics. It’s probably the hardest part of being one myself, because it leads to a lot of arguments, and I feel isolated because of it sometimes.

To add my comment there, I mean butting heads with other MRA’s of course. I’m with them on many things obviously, especially the general concept of gynocentrism in society, but I just have to overlook the market fetishism. For instance, universal healthcare is something that’s very important to me, and I’ve had some ugly arguments over that with some MRA’s, and well as the ideas of regulation, etc.

MRA’s definitely for the most part aren’t “conservative” in the sense of being religious Trad-Cons. There is sometimes some mutual “admiration” and overlap going on, as with the general anti-SJW crowd, but ultimately most in the MRM do not want traditionalism, they just want true modern “equality”. That said, many will still ostensibly align themselves with the right, just because they are less openly hostile to men politically and support “freedom” more. About half of them in my experience voted for Trump, half didn’t vote at all.

Unfortunately the left (Not us, but at large culturally) does make it very hard for men’s advocates to align with them because they are very hostile to them, and it definitely pushes them to the right. But that’s not to say it’s impossible, there’s still people like the Prim Reaper who hold fast to left values while also wholeheartedly backing men. Mostly conservative, by a large amount. They might be libertarian or Republican or "independent" and a few liberals but mostly conservative.

If they have an adversarial position to Feminism, as a whole they would not have enough in common with libs to regularly vote with them.

However if they take a co-operative approach with feminism, 95% chance they're left or liberal.
