Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t the original premises of feminism that women deserve equal treatment and equal opportunity? Personally, I think all people deserve equal treatment and equal opportunity. In my opinion the problem is how some modern feminist’s have contorted or forgotten these original ideas to essentially elevate women to a position of privilege and view men as universally bad.

I don't think this is a particularly unfair assessment. The only problem is that the feminist movement also comprises of some truly despicable people that are actually just misandrists. Most people are relatively in favor of equal treatment for people regardless of biology, race, gender, whatever.

I use the caveat relatively, because clearly there was some things that people are going to be less capable of doing. For instance someone who is wheelchair-bound is not going to make a spectacular firefighter, but besides the point I don't find this stance to be all that unacceptable.
